《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 32: Collective Slumbers

Zinvalia begrudgingly strode through the illuminated streets as the rain hammered down mixed with the sound of rock music and relentless buzzing from the neon signs polluted her mind. Zinvalia walked past a bar allowing her to hear the rock music more clearly.
"Tsk, rock music... at least it isn't that kid's bop rubbish," Zinvalia complained. She walked in front of a short alleyway and glanced through it at the arcade bar called Dragon Heart Arcade, signified by the giant golden neon sign with a Chinese dragon on it.
"H- it's a heathen!" a male voice shouted from inside the alleyway. Zinvalia heard a slightly distorted snicker, accompanied by weak pleases for help, making her groan before she turned and walked into the alley. The distorted snicker started to become more abundant and prevalent as a slender humanoid crystalline tiger monster started to emerge from the shadows and slowly stumbled towards an injured couple.
The three of them glanced over at Zinvalia and watched her as she walked past while paying no mind to the situation. The heathen slowly panned its head back at the couple. The couple closed their eyes as the heathen swung its claw at them until Zinvalia stabbed a demonic black metal knife with purple engravings into the side of the heathen's head. She tightened her grip on the knife and slammed the heathen's head into the ground causing the knife to slice through the heathen's head and sliced free from the heathen.
"How pitiful, for a heathen you're laughablely stupid." Zinvalia snarked before kicking the heathen in the face forcing it to stagger to its feet. The heathen covered the slash mark on the side of its head and roared at Zinvalia. Zinvalia scoffed as she twirled six of her knives on her right index finger while using her other hand to taunt the heathen. The heathen gritted its teeth and blindly charged at Zinvalia. The heathen tried to impale Zinvalia with its claws but she easily evaded the heathen's attacks before she kicked the heathen in the gut. The heathen tried to strike Zinvalia one more time before it was struck in the face by the buff arm of a golem that launched the heathen into the air. The golem's arm quickly disappeared back into Zinvalia's large shadow as she glanced over at the scared couple.
"Tsk, I expect compensation got a problem with that?".
"N-no ma'am." the guy said as he shook his head. The heathen darted its head down and frantically looked around when it could only find the couple. The heathen felt its back hit a hand and it quickly spun its head around to see Zinvalia stare at it with an annoyed glare. Before the heathen could even respond, a purple flame erupted from Zinvalia's hand and instantly incinerated the heathen. Zinvalia landed in front of the couple and glanced over at the male. The guy frantically reached for his wallet and asked how much money Zinvalia wanted.

"Just give me fifty-five Valt," Zinvalia stated. The guy nodded and placed a silver coin with a large V on it and five copper coins with large Vs on them in Zinvalia's hand before she walked off.
"Thank you." the couple stuttered. Zinvalia rolled her eyes and scoffed.
"Yeah whatever, just don't let me catch you in this situation again." Zinvalia voiced before she rushed across the street towards the Dragon Heart Arcade.
Kukamo placed two soft drinks in front of Fei and Mei, the two of them grabbed one of the drinks and started to drink them as Zinvalia entered the arcade.
"Good evening lady Zi-" Kukamo managed to say before Zinvalia cut him off.
"I'm not in the mood, wardrobe disaster." Zinvalia snarked as she walked past the bar and went upstairs. Kukamo looked down at his outfit and scratched his head.
"Don't worry Mr Kukamo, Lia's just in a bad mood since big sis got out of doing the boring mining mission," Mei stated while placing her hand on his.
"Oh hey, Lia-" the slightly muffled voice of Majin said from upstairs before a loud crash vibrated throughout the building.
"Can it Xinia!" Zinvalia yelled while being accompanied by a laughing Xinia. Kukamo dismissively shook his head and pulled out a medkit from under the bar counter.
Meanwhile, Callie in her scientist attire with her goggles over her eyes layed flat on a smooth floating oval-shaped piece of metal over the large test tube with the mini-snowstorm inside it. She carefully placed the auroraite, the white gem with the mini aurora inside it, inside some tongs before slowly floating the tongs above the test tube. The roof of the test tube opened and Callie methodically lowered the jaws of the tongs before releasing the auroraite into the test tube. Callie removed the tongs before closing the roof of the test tube and floating back down to the floor.
Callie watched as the auroraite started to dissolve and merge into the snowstorm. The snowstorm rapidly calm and morphed into thousands of dancing snowflakes. Callie intently watched the snowflakes until the test tube's nameplate caught her attention.
"How'd I miss that?" Callie remarked as she raised her goggles to her forehead and grabbed the holographic nameplate and changed the first a in Yakuza, making the nameplate read Glacious-Tempest Prototype Alpha-39 code name Yokuza before placing it back. Callie yawned and rubbed her eyes.
"I wonder if Zuzu would agree to be a bodypillow?" Callie remarked to herself.
"You sure have a weird way of requesting things," Zulcrestus said while he was reading a book titled a comprehensive guide to using Novathane V2. Callie grumbled to herself as her face slowly turned red and looked up at Zulcrestus.
"How long have you been here?" Callie mumbled. Zulcrestus sighed as he placed the guidebook into his Storage Pocket and stood up while taking off one of his gauntlets. Callie tiredly looked up and squinted her eyes when Zulcrestus placed his hand under her goggles.

"How've you managed to get a fever?" a bewildered Zulcrestus asked before he picked Callie up and carried her under his arm.
"It was probably the constant exposure to- hey where are you taking me?". Callie continued to incoherently mumbled as Zulcrestus walked towards the lab's exit. The lab door closed behind the duo and the lights automatically turned off, leaving the only light source in the room being the two active test tubes. Small cracks started to form across the Yokuza labelled test tube before all the liquid inside it instantly froze solid.
Zulcrestus entered Callie's room and tossed Callie onto her bed. Callie stripped off her clothes until she was just in her underwear and she crawled under her bedsheet. Callie rested her face on her pillow and let out a muffled groan. Zulcrestus turned to leave but felt a tug on his right arm. Zulcrestus turned his head as his right arm was hoisted backwards.
"Don't... go..." Callie meekly pleaded with her hand reaching out for Zulcrestus. He sighed as he turned around and walked back to the bed. He sat down on the bed and kicked his shoes off before laying down on top of the bed sheet. A delighted and sweaty Callie instantly wrapped her arms around Zulcrestus and pressed her cheek against the side of Zulcrestus' face.
"My yandere." A sleeping Callie mumbled. Zulcrestus covered his eyes with his arm and tried to go to sleep.
"I'm...not a yandere, you stupid furry meatshield," Zulcrestus muttered in a half-asleep state before slipping into unconsciousness.
A kid with a striking resemblance to Zulcrestus, excluding the kid having purple hair, looked up to the sky of the Azurescape until he heard a young boyish voice calling out to him, causing a white stone corridor to form around the two.
"Come on Z-2! We're going to miss the fireworks." a young pale-skinned boy kitsune yelled as he tried to straighten out his glowing cyan with none glowing cyan tip hair along with his six tails, that matched his hair.
"Whatever, Z-1," Z-2 mumbled as Z-1 glared at him with the pupils of his pale cyan eyes narrowed into a narrow line. Z-2 rolled his eyes and marched over to Z-1 as he struggled to stop his kimono from falling. Z-2 grabbed the back of Z-1's kimono and tied it together.
"Thanks.". Z-1 quickly hurried off until he faded away and the walls faded away as well. Z-2 sighed before walking in the direction of Z-1 and fading away as well. Z-2 reformed wearing a jumpsuit as a large white box formed around him while multiple blue silhouettes (actual silhouettes not the creatures) in ancient-themed lab coats and multiple different coloured kid silhouettes stood behind him while they all looked at Z-1 who was also wearing a jumpsuit and his skin had turned paler and slightly cyan.
"Alright subject Z-2 attempt to erase Z-1's arm.". Z-2 spun around and looked up at the scientist that had said that, with a shocked glare.
"We haven't got all day.". Z-2 glared at the scientist before turning back to Z-1 and raising his right arm. He aimed his hand at Z-1 who seemed completely unfazed and was even asking the scientist what they'd be eating for lunch. Z-2's arm started to shake as a conflicted frown grew on his face. He contemplated whether he should go through with it and started to slowly lower his arm with Z-1 even giving him a cheeky wink.
"Will you hurry up already!". The scientist continued to badger Z-2 and threw verbal abuse at him as he continued to do nothing. The scientist's relentless abuse caused Z-2 to violently frown. One of the scientists aggressively yelled, which startled one of the kid silhouettes.
"Shut it brat.". the scientist went to strike the kid but the moment their arm was inches away from the kid's face the guy's arm was instantly encased by a teal glow. The scientist pulled his hand back at tried to inspect the glow on his hand before it was violently contorted into a bloody pulp. The scientist fell to his knees as the other scientist rushed to his aid.
"Man, now you guy's have done it." Z-1 joked as he jumped over to the four kid silhouettes and grabbed them with his tails. Z-1 quickly jumped into the air magically attached himself to the ceiling as the walls and floor started to rapidly crack. Z-2 began to be encased in a purple aura and his hair started to glow as he slowly turned to face the scientists with a murderous glare.
"I've had enough of you," Z-2 stated as he focused purple mana into his right hand. The scientist frantically rushed for the room's entrance while Z-2 gained a devilish grin. A giant energy blast erupted from Z-2's hand and the light from the attack completely covered the entirety of the room.
Lola frantically woke up in a sweat and darted her head around at the foresty surroundings. She look around at the sleeping Zalroth, Kusana, Snow and Scarlett and she let out a relieved exhale. Lola layed back down and went back to sleep.
