《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 8: Ghostly Extermination

Callie frantically raced through the corridors of her airship with multiple items in her arms and a giant sword on her back. In her arms, she was carrying a pale lavender cloak, with a dark purple upwards pointing triangles and pale yellow downwards pointing triangles at the end of the cloak. The cloak also had a pale golden neck guard, that had a purple gem in the centre and a pale yellow scarf.
The sword was inside a completely grey scabbard that had a grating like pattern on the middle area of the scabbard, surrounded by multiple metal covers. and had an airtight cover around the sword's guard. The sword handle was a mix of silver and gold with a purple crystal sphere for the pummel. She was also carrying pale golden knight themed boots, greaves, arm guards and a chest piece. Callie arrived at the loading hanger and spotted Zulcrestus by the loading hanger door.
She hurried over to him but accidentally tripped over a part of the purple cloak she was carrying. She was sent flying, along with all the items she was carrying, across the loading hanger and was heading straight for the hovercycle, which has a similar design to the airship. Callie and all the items suddenly stopped mid-air as they were surrounded by a cyan aura. She was slowly lowered to the ground and placed on the ground before the aura faded.
"Thanks, Zuzu," Callie said as she ran over to Zulcrestus, who was still looking at the loading hanger door. The floating objects followed behind Callie until she stopped behind Zulcrestus. Zulcrestus slightly turned around and looked down at Callie.
"What are you up to now, Callie?". Callie grabbed onto the floating cloak and pulled it over to Zulcrestus.
"Well, I've been making some new equipment and thought this would be the best moment to do some practical tests.". Zulcrestus looked at the floating equipment and back at Callie, who was looking at him with anticipation.
"Very well.". Callie excitedly bounced around and raced around Zulcrestus. While Zulcrestus was changing equipment, Callie started to explain that the equipment does.
"This cloak is made from...".
"Could you only tell me their functions; you can tell me their backstories later," Zulcrestus said while putting one of the greaves on. Callie looked at Zulcrestus with an annoyed expression while pouting.
"Fine... the cloak's able to half the mana cost of spells. The gem on the cloak's neck guard gives the cloak multiple high-grade magic barriers; the gem also has a flight spell in it allowing the person who wears it to fly. The armour also has the same grade magic barriers along with speed enhancement magic, reinforcement magic and I even manage to create a magi-chip that can use the mana in the air to auto repair all the equipment.". Callie quickly pulled the magi-chip out of the gem in the neck guard and showed the pink coloured square, which had thousands of interconnected pieces.

"That's very interesting, Callie; maybe you'll be able to make a magi-chip that can replicate my telekinesis one of these days.".
"You don't need to rub it in, Zuzu.". Zulcrestus finished putting on the new equipment and Callie put the pink magi-chip back into the gem on the neck guard. A Zelkio knight approached the two and handed Callie her goggles.
"You forgot this ma'am, and we are directly above the army of soul reapers.". She thanked him and told Zulcrestus to make sure he get very detailed combat data before running off. Zulcrestus stood back up and turned to face the loading hanger door.
Callie returned and handed Zulcrestus the sword.
"I must warn you Zuzu when you're finished using the sword make sure the air-tight lock is actually locked properly and not slightly open, you'll hear a click when it's actually locked.". Zulcrestus nodded and made the sword float behind him and hover an inch away from his back. Callie waved goodbye before racing off.
A warning light-activated and a message on the loudspeaker warned the people in the loading hanger that the loading door was about to open. The loading hanger door started to slowly open, and thanks to the special magic barrier the air in the loading hanger didn't rush out. Zulcrestus walked through the barrier and stood on the edge of the door. He looked down at the ground and spotted the army of soul reapers. He figured he was about five km above them.
Zulcrestus jumped off the door and quickly plummeted to the ground. He extended out his right arm and created a white magic circle, with two white intersecting crosses (+) with eight white circles on the perimeter of the ring. He aimed the magic circle at the army of soul reapers. He swiped his arm horizontally and the magic circle multiplied to around a hundred. He snapped his fingers and the magic circles started to gather light magic particles into a ball at the centre of the magic circle. He fell past the magic circles and nose-dived towards the soul reapers.
The army of soul reapers continued to march onwards until they sensed Zulcrestus and suddenly stopped marching. The soul reapers, directly below Zulcrestus, fired a barrage of black fire bullets at him. Zulcrestus created a large white magic circle behind himself and the gem on the neck guard flashed a faint green. Zulcrestus abruptly stopped falling before avoiding the black fire bullets by flying around them.

Zulcrestus snapped his fingers and a volley of white magic spears raced out from the magic circle. The magic spears moved at close to light speed and pierced through multiple of the soul reapers and disappeared into the ground. Multiple of the soul reapers crumbled away while the remaining ones continued to fire at Zulcrestus. He easily avoided the fire bullets while his magic circle continued to fire light spears at the soul reapers.
His magic circle disappeared and his horns started to glow before his whole body was encased in a veil of cyan mana. The soul reapers tried to move out of the way but they weren't fast enough.
Zulcrestus punched the ground and the mana around his body exploded off his body and sent a shockwave of psychic energy that sent all the soul reapers it hit flying. All the hit soul reapers suddenly stopped mid-air as their bodies were encased by a cyan aura. Zulcrestus stood up straight and raised his right hand. Zulcrestus grabbed onto the handle of the sword.
Hundreds of the soul reapers reacted to Zulcrestus, grabbing the sword, by each firing a large black fireball at him. He focused mama into the scabbard's lock and the moment the lock opened an overwhelming heat waved flooded out from the scabbard. The heatwave was so intense that the soul reapers' attacks were blown away or completely wiped out.
Zulcrestus tightened his grip on the sword; he slowly pulled the sword out of the scabbard, causing the intensity of the heatwave to dramatically increase. Zulcrestus instinctively tried to cover his eyes due to the brightness of the blade, flames spewed off the blade in a similar fashion to the sun. Zulcrestus managed to look at the sword and couldn't figure out if it was a single-handed sword or a two-handed sword, due to its size. He aimed the sword behind himself, causing all the soul reapers to flinch.
The floating soul reapers, due to Zulcrestus' telekinesis, were violently and drastically pulled towards Zulcrestus. He swung the sword horizontally and effortlessly sliced all the floating soul reapers in half. Before the soul reapers could respond, Zulcrestus proceeded to dash over to some soul reapers and slash them at their necks. A group of soul reapers tried to flank him, while blacks flames enchased the blades of their scythes. They were instantly stopped mid-air by Zulcrestus' telekinesis.
Zulcrestus continued to evade the attacks of the soul reapers in front of him while the skulls of the soul reapers caught in his telekinesis started to crack. He dodged a scythe attack before jumping into the air. Right as he jumped, the soul reapers behind him were dragged, by the telekinesis, through the air and smashed into a cluster of soul reapers, creating a cloud of dust.
A soul reaper slashed through the cloud right as Zulcrestus plunged his sword through its skull. Zulcrestus let out a disappointed sigh as he sliced the soul reaper, vertically, in half. He placed the sword back in the scabbard and used his telekinesis to close the lock. The temperature of the heatwave, in the immediate area, rapidly went down and the sudden temperature change caused Zulcrestus' body to shiver slightly.
The soul reapers, believing he had dropped his guard, instantly raced towards Zulcrestus to try and attack him. However, he easily stopped them with his telekinesis and crushed their skulls with it.
"Why'd you stop... using the sword?" Callie, while heavily panting, asked Zulcrestus telepathically.
"It should be obvious, given your current condition.". Zulcrestus continued to destroy the soul reapers while Callie regained her breath.
"I guess... you're right, I'll try to recalibrate the sword later.". Zulcrestus looked up at the sky, causing the surrounding soul reapers to charge at him. Zulcrestus jumped into the air and disappeared, right as the soul reapers slashed at him. The soul reapers fumbled around as they tried to get their scythes untangled. Zulcrestus appeared above the magic circles he had created before the start of the battle. He watched the soul reapers frantically looking around, in an attempt to find him.
"I suppose I can't expect a challenge from every mutant I encounter.". Zulcrestus snapped his fingers and all the magic circles fired a beam of highly condensed light magic; the beams instantly disintegrated all the soul reapers as the beams collided with the ground and exploded.

This Book
The author, Edward Faust is aware that “This Book” does not really describe what this book is about. We shall pretend that it is a meta artistic choice but the reality is that Mr. Faust is bad at coming up with titles, and since starting This Book back in 2015 as a NaNoWriMo project he could never come up with a good one. This Book’s genre is YA Supernatural, but that’s only as helpful as any genre tag (IE: not very) so I shall describe it further. This Book is primarily about reincarnation, but it also features mythical creatures such as angels (known here as Seraphs), demons, Byzantines, as well as homeschoolers. Two mythical homeschoolers in fact make up the main characters of this work, a pair of siblings named Grayson and Kish. They live in metro Atlanta in the year 2019 AD with their Aunt. On one particular day they are plunged into a rabbit hole of spiritual and metaphysical politics by the arrival of a mysterious one-eyed Green haired woman and strange humanoid creatures into their lives. That is where the story begins. Yes. This book can also be found at https://thisbook.home.blog/
