《Legend Of Blood And Flame》Chapter 11 Old Friend

LBF Chapter 11 Old Friend
Earth, the planet was still the same as the 21st century, well...except for the reversal of climate change. The number of satellites orbiting the planet had increased though, coupled with space stations.
Space junk, which had cluttered Earth's orbit had been removed. A three elemental string being has a domain which can protect them from the horrors of space, not to mention the capability of flight. Multiples of them had teamed up and cleaned up all the debre from decommissioned and destroyed satellites. It had been thousands of years ago. Now every decommissioned piece of technology was removed and recycled the moment it completed its duty.
According to research, elemental particles were beginning to influence non-living matter, but it would take at least 100,000 years to see any visible effects...well, except for the planets created by gods themselves.
The current population of Earth was just under 40 billion, composed of mostly those at three elemental strings and below. Higher level beings generally all moved to Nearth. Like all artificially created planets, it had a very high concentration of the elements. Elemental mines were the lowest valued resources that could be produced by those planets. If the creator of the planet was dead, many demigod clans would have fought to possess it.
The concentration of elements proved to be toxic to all those below four elemental strings.
A figure, Demigod Blood, real names being Damien Okoye, appeared above Earth, just a bit away from its gravitational pull.
A nostalgic look appeared in his eyes.
'I wonder whether there is still someone alive.' That thought popped up into his mind.
He lowered himself until the gravitational pull begun acting on his body, causing him to plummet. As the velocity increased, friction with the atmosphere caused flames to ignite on his body and temperatures to soar. But no matter how high the temperature rose, not even a corner of his suit was singed.

Since it would take hundreds of thousands of years for the elemental particles to fuse with everything, these flames were normal. What he was doing now could not be replicated on Nearth, a planet doused with the elements. He would only be courting severe injuries...and that's because he's a demigod. Others, below his power would simply perish.
As his body plummeted, like an asteroid, multiple electromagnetic waves scanned him. He didn't conceal himself so they withdrew after a scan. They had confirmed his identity.
Down on Earth, in one of the cities, the night was young and clouds were obscuring the night sky. Demigod Blood had plummeted into the side currently away from the sun. The moon had long been destroyed and the debre cleared away. Though, Nearth had its own moon, courtesy of that legendary god.
Many people were still moving, along the streets and the sky walkways. An orange glow appeared within the clouds attracting the attention of the majority.
As the glow intensified, a hole was torn through the clouds, as if a spear had pierced through. Something burning and plummeting down was observed almost leading to a panic.
(Don't be alarmed my citizens. Its just a powerful human, Demigod Blood, who has returned.)
A voice spread to all the corners of the city from the tallest building in the center of the city. The panic, turned into cheering, enveloping the city like a tsunami.
Boom!
A few kilometers above the city, an explosion was heard, setting off a very powerful shockwave which pushed away the clouds, revealing the night sky. The stop had been abrupt, defying the laws of momentum and physics.
A metropolis with highly advanced skyscrapers and sky walks and tunnels appeared within his gaze. The city was bright and many large holograms were currently projecting his appearance onto the screens.

(Welcome back, Lord Blood.)
A gigantic sentence appeared above the city bringing a smile to his lips.
'My friend. It looks like you are still among the living.' He chuckled at the thought and vanished fromntge night sky to reappear on the roof of the tallest skyscraper in the center of the city.
He had landed in a city on the African continent, his birth origin.
"Lino, you have gotten old." He commented.
"I also see that you are still one for dramatic entrances." A man talked. The voices of the crowd entered both their ears. The chanting of 'Lord Blood!' by the populace.
"Thank the universe that you are back alive." The man said. He was burly, bald, but with a few wrinkles on his face, signifying that he was getting on in years.
"Why haven't you merged with the elemental string I gave you a hundred years ago?" Damien asked as they took an elevator down.
"At this rate, you have less than a 100 years in you!" Damien tried to make his voice appear as calm as possible, but it was seething with anger.
"Haaaa...it seems that luck isn't on my side. I still haven't found the merging point." The man sighed. But he didn't appear down.
"I thought you would be dissapointed." Damien commented.
"I am not. I have lived for a long time and seen everything that's there to see. I even have a couple of descendants. If my time has come, I will accept it calmly." He answered. No regret to be found anywhere in his voice.
"Among us friends, we are the only two still alive. Paul kicked the bucket twenty years ago." Lino said.
"He...died. I see..." Damien felt something heavy in his chest. He had already witnesses many of his friends' lives ending through the years, but it still didn't soften the pain that came with the experience.
"If I kick the bucket, you will be the only one left among us. Can you do me a favor and make more friends?" The man pleaded.
"..." Damien didn't say anything or make any gesture.
"You can start with her. I know the princess broke your heart, but you can still be friends. Or could it be that you still have her in your heart?" He asked.
"Our fate ended a long time ago." Damien answered calmly.
"I came here to see you one last time. I will be heading to Pantheon city." Damien said when the elevator stopped and they walked out.
"So, you succeeded. I was never an advocate for your crazy hunting of others at your level, always thinking that you will die before me..."
"...its surprising that you have succeeded." Lino said, amazement thick in his voice.

With no home, no family, and only death waiting for him, Jayce decided to escape north to the uncharted Northern Territories to begin a new life. Forced into situations he was never prepared for and trying to cope with his past, Jayce tries to find safety in a place spoken about only in legends. There for the first time, he will make true friends and find people he will come to see as family. He will encounter strong enemies, build powerful alliances, and become a person his ancestors would be proud of. But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here
