《Alternate 2020》Prologue

I thought about this every year. Well... at least once a year, New Year's Eve.
The seconds before the end of one year and beginning of another, it's an exciting moment.
I watched and listened to the small fireworks building up the tension in the background as flashbacks fill my mind.
"I wonder what will await me in the future?" I said looking up to the sky.
2020, the start of a new zodiac cycle, the year of the rat, a new chapter in my life.
The countdown begins.

A stream of fireworks set off and shone brightly in the starry night. The city sky filled with smoke trails left behind by the fireworks as the crescent moonlight reflected upon it; a truly mesmerising sight to behold.
Janda tapped my shoulder. "Hey!"
"Hey, bro!" I replied. "When'd you get here? Isn't your accommodation a few blocks away?"
"Hmm... let's just say I missed ya."
"Hoho? Are you sure you're not here for something else?"
"Well... what about sparing me some food?" he laughed.
"I knew it... you're too lazy man!"
I passed him some food as we talked and chattered while eating on the bench in my courtyard.

"Ha... I wished everything would have been the same," Janda sighed while lying on the grassy bump beside the bench.
I took a bottle of coke and handed it to him. "Man, you're making this too emotional."
"Hmm... I wonder... well anyways," he said while sitting up. "I'm gonna head back now, got someone waiting for me haha," he laughed while scratching the back of his head.
"Wha-? Since when did you..." I muttered. "Ha... never mind. Just get going!"

We fist-bumped and the next moment he was on his way back to his accommodation.
I looked up at the sky again.
"I hope this year will be another great year."

A Sith? During The Fall
Darth Zaros was the Empire’s Wrath; the greatest Sith Warrior and a man feared across the galaxy. He was also just my Old Republic game character until I somehow woke up as him. If that wasn’t bad enough, I was sent thousands of years into the future to the eve of the Great Jedi Purge. Alone and surrounded by enemies, can Zaros survive long enough to figure out how he got there? Can he ever find his way back? Follow along as Zaros uses his powers and more importantly, the knowledge of a fan, to navigate his way through a dangerous Universe. I'm working with a mixture of canon and legends stuff. If it hasn't been written over in canon then it will probably be free game. Because I’m reconciling various different sources, power levels won’t be blown out of proportion to the point that force users become the only relevant people in the Galaxy. I added the gore tag just in case. This is Star Wars, so there won’t be any needless blood spatters, but lightsaber duels often end with some body part cut off.

Hawkin. Bronze Ranked Brewer.
07/11/2022 Update: We're currently at the end of the 7th arc, out of 10. My plan is to continue to publish a chapter at least 4-5x a week for the next few months. Synopsis: Hawkin found his place in the world, far from humans and monsters. He abandoned the adventuring life long ago and left civilization, opting for peace and isolation instead. After ten years out in the northern forests, he befriends a strange creature and his life changes. A traveling trio of monks then show up in Hawkin's woods and share with him the best beer he's ever had. After that beer, Hawkin wants to do nothing but accept the brewer's path and brew. This story is intended to be slow and easy. It involves a slow progression of power and brewing more powerful beers. There is occasional conflict. Thanks for reading, and I really hope this story relieves a bit of stress from your days. Note: I'm behind on Audio, but I hope to catch up soon. Linked Audio is always free. Scholar of the Fog
Leaving a trail of blood as he climbed up a hill, his limbs felt like lead. He was gasping too, his lungs burning with every step he took. It felt like a bundle of broken glass was scraping away the inner walls of his flesh. He was dying, obvious to both him and his pursuers. And it would not be long till he dropped dead as he bled away. If not, the people chasing him would surely finished what they had came for. It was as if the Gods themselves had already predestined his fate. He took one step forward and stood at the peak of the hill. He let his legs rest as he could barely go on. Heaving deep breaths, he could hear sneering voices and shouts behind him. They were close, and the grim realization stoked the embers of his most primal fear. He did not want to die. He had dreams, like any other youth. There was glory to be had in this world. He wanted to learn more of life, and lived through its motions. He wanted to live. He swept his gaze, and across him was a spanning forest of old. With a glint in his eyes, and jaws clenched, he decided to gamble with all he had. He was dying, and by now, it did not matter where his grave was. He ran down the hill, and stopped where the plains and the forest met. His eyes swept about the trees, and he could feel an instinctual urge to drag himself away. He knew what this forest was, and here, he would find his salvation. Or his doom. The voices behind him grew closer, and among the noise was the faint clanging of steel. Gritting his teeth, he ousted all the will he had from the depths of his soul and stepped forth into the forest. Damned he be by the Gods if they wanted him dead. -new synopsis 10/6/2016 ---------- A new chapter would be released every friday. And the quality of writing should improve each time, hopefully. Another important thing to mention is how the story as of now, is only a bedrock for a massive world if it ever gets there. (CH18) And if possible, reviews are very much appreciated. ---------- For the ones who are interested in the old synopsis: With one foot in the grave, he ran away for that little bit of hope. Exhausted and bleeding, it was only a matter of time until he passed out. By then, his fate would be sealed and he would be no more. Thus, he had to make a decision that might just save his life.
