《The Diamonds》Who We Really Are

{Ron}
I sat down in my room on my bed, trying to wrap my mind around the fact that a mother doesn't care about her daughter the way she should. Patty practically handed her daughter over to someone just so they could assault her! She says she wants Abigail to come home safe and she knows good and well even if Abigail does come home, she's not going to be the same ever again. Especially since she's been put under the Fog, who knows what Dr. Crow is doing to her. He probably just picked up where he left off before Abigail got away from him.
Who knows what Dr. Crow will do to me, once he gets his hands on me again. I'm going to rescue Abigail. If I have to give myself up to get closer to her, then fine I'll do it. I'm going to do whatever it takes to save her. If the others think I'm insane, then I'm insane. I don't know why I feel so strongly about protecting Abigail, but I felt the need to protect her even before we got together.
Protecting Abigail has always been in the front of my mind. I didn't make stellar weapons just to impress Abigail. I made weapons to the best of my abilities in hopes that they would protect Abigail every time she went on a mission. Even if we hadn't gotten together and she was with someone else I would make the best weapons I could for whoever her significant other might be. I would want them both to be safe no matter what the costs.
There was a knock on the door. "Ron? Are you okay? I heard you and Abigail returned from your mission and I heard you were upset about something, can I come in?"
I smiled because that was just like Simon being concerned about his twin's boyfriend. I opened the door, "Sure Simon, what's up?"
Simon sat down on the bed and he didn't look happy. "Look I know there's something wrong with Abigail, I can sense it. I figured I'd come to you because if anyone would know what's going on it would be you."
I sighed, "Okay, something has happened to her, but you need to promise me that you won't say a word to the others. Got it?"
Simon nodded. "I got it."
"Has Patty ever told you about a weapon Dr. Crow has called Fog?" I asked.
Simon nodded. "Yes she has, she said when someone is put under that then you're pretty much Dr. Crow's puppet, why?"
I took a deep breath and let it out slowly, "Abigail's been captured, and…"
Simon's eyes went wide as saucers. "She's underneath the Fog isn't she?"
I nodded and looked away. "From the looks of it, yes."
"What do you mean from the looks of it?" Simon questioned.
"Well when we went to go save her Dr. Crow left us a nice little video message," I said, "and from the way she was acting, it looked like she was put under the Fog."
Simon gasped and covered his mouth. It took him a moment to compose himself, "So that's why you're upset! No wonder! But why did they say that Abigail had returned?"
I looked at him. "Do you think that if an Agent got captured that they want everyone to know about it?"
"I see. That makes sense," Simon said. "So how are we going to save her?"
I blinked. "We?"
"Yes we," said Simon, "I'm her twin brother so of course, it would make sense I would go with you to save her."
"I don't know. In the video message," I said. "Dr. Crow wanted me to go to the basement of Shaw Castle-"
"Wait, what?" Simon said. "Shaw Castle! But didn't-"
"Apparently not," I said, "so what I'm thinking is we go to Shaw Castle and…"
"And what?" Simon asked. "You wouldn't be planning on being the sacrificial lamb, would you? If you are then you're insane!"
"Honestly," I said, "I don't care what happens to me as long as Abigail is safe. If I need to be Dr. Crow's servant for all eternity to keep her away from him, then so be it!"
Simon reached over and slapped me across the face. He slapped about as hard as Asher did recently. It surprised me that the slap didn't break my neck.
I rubbed my cheek feeling the sting from the slap. "Okay, I'm getting annoyed with people slapping me!"
"Well, we're doing it to knock some sense into you!" Simon roared. "Honestly Ron, I don't think you trading yourself for Abigail is what Abigail would want you to do! I think there's a better way we can do this."
I raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"Well, Dr. Crow's probably going to send Abigail to fight whatever DA's are sent after her," Simon said. "When and if we wind up fighting her, we capture her and take her back. I think Abigail would want that instead of you offering yourself up to Dr. Crow and who's to say he'll keep his end of the bargain?" He calmed down and sighed. "There's one more thing I should tell you."
"Okay," I said.
"I've been having these really weird flashbacks," said Simon, "and no Dr. Crow didn't touch me but I remember him touching Abigail. In my flashbacks, I came around the corner and saw Dr. Crow touching Abigail in a certain way and she didn't look like she liked it. I told Patty about it in the flashback and she said don't worry about it. I got worried about it because you know she's my twin. I was seething with rage when I heard Dr. Crow sexually assaulting her one day. The thing that made it worse was Patty was standing in front of the door. She was guarding the room so no one could get in. I tried to get in there and stop what was going on and I got disciplined for doing that. Every time I tried to save her, I got flogged two hundred hundred times! I was surprised the punishment didn't kill me."
"That stupid bitch!" I roared. I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down. "Yeah Patty was just a pushover, some mother she was and she's not doing any better now. She let Dr. Crow sexually assault me too."
"W-what?!" Simon gasped.
I nodded. "Yup and from what I know of, Dr. Crow was only interested in me and Abigail at that time. Patty just handed us over and let Dr. Crow have at it. Patty's excuse was that she was terrified of the guy. Yeah, that's not a good excuse to let someone assault their child."
Simon looked like he was thinking about something.
"What is it?" I asked.
"True, Dr. Crow is definitely after you for sure," said Simon. "So we can use that to draw Abigail out and we fight her, capture her, and bring her back, end of story."

"You make that sound so easy, but it won't be. Because Dr. Crow is a tricky one and I bet that's why we haven't been given the order to kill him yet." Out of nowhere, I started to get the worst headache I've ever had. I held my head in my hand to try and block the pain but it didn't work.
Simon put a hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry Ron, I didn't think I slapped you that hard!"
I groaned, "No, I don't… Think that's it…"
I braced myself on the edge of the bed to keep myself from falling off it because the pain was so bad. Simon pulled me into his arms and put my head on his chest. The headache kept getting worse by the second. I was starting to see stars. Eventually, the world left me.
* * *
I opened my eyes and felt a cold washcloth on my forehead. I looked over and was surprised to see Patty sitting by my bedside.
"You okay Ron?" Patty asked.
I gave her a wary look even though she looked concerned. At the moment I didn't believe her concern, not one little bit. "Yeah, I think?"
"I understand why you don't believe my concern," said Patty. "But believe me when I tell you I do want my daughter home safe. There's something I should tell you. I'm going to tell you this despite what the higher up's say."
"Huh?" I said.
Patty opened a briefcase that was sitting next to her and handed me a huge file.
"What's this?" I asked.
"It's information on an alien race called the Diamonds that came to Earth over two hundred years ago," Patty explained. "The reason why the Diamond Division was created was because of this alien race. The Diamonds are ten times stronger than a human. They're pretty much indestructible too. If a limb gets chopped off, they can regrow it.
"Anyway, The Diamond planet was beautiful inside and outside. This is a picture of what it looked like before it got destroyed."
Patty showed me a picture of a planet that looked like one huge diamond in the shape of a hexagon. "Inside the planet, the streets were paved with crystals everywhere you looked. The houses were made of crystals too.
"The government on the Diamond planet was a monarchy but a lot different from the monarchies on earth. The Diamond government was made up of six different clans, the black clan, the silver clan, the red clan, the blue clan, the purple clan, and the white clan. The clans were divided based on the color of the crystals on the planet. Every clan had some form of royalty within their clans. Of course, Abigail and Simon being my children, they're Princesses and Princes too."
"Okay," I said, "what does this have to do with me?"
"It has everything to do with you!" answered Patty, "You see there was one clan that ruled over everything and that was the black clan. I was the Queen of the Diamonds and my real name is Queen Pearl, Abigail being my daughter, her name is Princess Black, and Simon's real name is Prince Shadow. You know those codenames that we gave you for when you go on those missions?"
I nodded. "Yes," I paused. "Wait, are you telling me that our codenames are our real names?"
Patty nodded. "Yup! That's exactly what I'm telling you! You and the others that got those keys are all Royalty."
"So that means…" I swallowed, "My real name is Prince Silver?"
"Yup," said Patty, "anyway before the Diamond planet got destroyed, the original King whose name was King Ibee and he was a kind and wonderful man. When he ruled with me there was mostly peace among the Diamonds. Then one day we got word that someone was planning on destroying the Diamond planet. We had no idea who but King Ibee and I decided to talk to the Elders who were basically the royal advisors to the King and Queen. They already picked out two different places that we should try to make peaceful relations with just in case we had to flee the planet. King Ibee volunteered to come to Earth and we sent an ambassador, a man named Wrinkler, to Earth too. I still have no idea why they decided to send two people to Earth but they did.
"When King Ibee left for Earth I thought he would be back by the end of the year at least, but that never happened. So ten years later King Ibee was still gone and the Elders didn't think it was a good idea for me to rule over the Diamonds alone so they asked me to pick another king. That's where Dr. Crow comes in. I picked Dr. Crow because he seemed like he would be a strong ruler. His real name is King Sairia."
I narrowed my eyes. "But why did you let him touch us?"
"There was nothing I could do about it when Dr. Crow took an interest in you and Abigail," Patty said. "If you went against the King's orders no matter how sick you think they are, you would get disciplined. I got tired of being disciplined myself and started being afraid of him. So I did what he wanted me to do. I don't know what Dr. Crow's reasoning on this was, but when he talked to me and said that he wanted you to be Abigail's husband when you two got older, I thought he lost his mind. But in the end, I agreed with him, mostly because you two looked cute together. You guys spent a lot of time together when you weren't being terrorized by Dr. Crow. So I agreed that you two would be married but not until you two became adults."
"Okay," I said, "so when does a Diamond become an adult?"
"Usually after a Diamond hits puberty and a Diamond hits puberty at the age of thirty, it takes up to a week after that for them to be considered an adult. You and Abigail would've been set to marry each other the following week after you become adults. But that didn't happen, because the Diamond planet got destroyed and we fled to Earth. When we arrived on Earth, the government allowed us to stay at Shaw Castle. There we remained hidden from the public eye.
"Dr. Crow disappeared right after the Diamond planet got destroyed. I figured since he was gone then you and Abigail would be safe. But then, everyone started to transform into humans and went through puberty as humans, and started to forget who we were. Either way, I saw how you and Abigail were towards each other and I held out hope that you two would end up with each other. It looks like my wish was answered.
"Another weird thing about the Diamonds when they hit puberty that's when they're the most sexually active, it's kind of the same with humans when they hit puberty. The thing that makes it strange is that both males and females can get pregnant." Patty said.
I practically threw up in my mouth when I heard that. Males and females can get pregnant? That's unheard of!
"Don't worry if a Diamond doesn't want to get pregnant then it won't happen," said Patty. "Now if their partner wants to get pregnant then that's a whole different story."
"So how does a Diamond know when they've hit puberty?" I asked.
"The telltale sign is when they grow fangs," Patty answered. "Anyway, you want to see what you and Abigail looked like before you became human?"
I nodded.
Patty took out of her file that she had two pictures, one picture was of Abigail before she became a human and the other one was of me before I became a human. I smiled because the pictures looked exactly like what I saw in my flashbacks. Another picture Patty showed me was of me and Abigail sitting down at a bench and holding hands.
Patty chuckled, "I took that picture when you two weren't looking. I have a couple of other family pictures and you're in every single one of them. You know because you were picked to be Abigail's future husband and I'm still holding out hope that you two will be married one day."
"I wonder," I said, "if that's why I feel the need to protect Abigail at all costs? Even if she didn't wind up with me, I would've made sure her husband would be protected also."
Patty shrugged. "I don't know, but I'll let you keep those three pictures I showed you. Right now, I'd say rest for a little bit. You're worried sick about her I know. Believe it or not, I'm worried sick about her too. I don't even want to think about what Dr. Crow is possibly doing to Abigail." She shuddered. "Nope, I'm not thinking about it. But I bet that's why you passed out earlier. At least for one day, rest and then we'll figure out a game plan. Knowing you, you'll find some way to be stupid about this. That's why Asher slapped you earlier and that slap looked like it hurt. To tell the truth, I'm glad all I got was a smashed desk from Wrinkler."
"No kidding," I said, "Simon slapped me earlier too. I guess I'm just so desperate to save Abigail, I can't think straight."
Patty smiled. "Makes perfect sense. But please try and rest for the day. We'll figure out what to do tomorrow."
I nodded and once Patty left, I laid back down after I put the pictures she gave me on my nightstand.

Ursus Ex Machina
Ozzy was a man of the wild. Raised in a remote village atop the world's mightiest mountain, he'd been taught to respect and revere the natural world. The realm he was born into had been there long before him, and it would remain there long after him. Sure, there was the occasional madman who threatened to destroy it, but such boasts were always empty. No one individual was actually capable of demolishing this beautiful blue-and-green ball Ozzy called home. No matter what terrible magics these villains wielded, they were incapable of causing permanent harm to the environment. Even if the planet was completely devastated, it would recover. Life would find a way to flourish, same as it always had. That was what Ozzy believed from the bottom of his heart, so he never once felt the need to save the world he loved. After all, it was never truly in danger. The world would be fine no matter what. The people were a wee bit endangered, but that was another story altogether. However, what would happen if Ozzy suddenly found himself devoid of his beloved wilds? What would the man do if the realm he knew - one of wonder, magic, and chaos - was replaced with a man-made environment of concrete, industry, and steam? Ozzy could never imagine such a thing happening, and yet that was his new reality. After losing a fateful confrontation with a mad wizard, he and his friends found themselves transported to a strange world so thoroughly alien that every waking moment feels like a fever dream. Separated and scattered to the four corners of this land, each of these adventurers will need to adapt, survive, and overcome if they hope to reunite. They would also need to do so quickly. The sooner they are able to find one another, the sooner they can figure out a way back home and have another crack at putting an end to the villain's plans. Whether such a thing was actually possible in a world with barely any magic in it was a valid concern, but Ozzy had more immediate things to worry about. For instance, why did the air smell like a perpetual forest fire? How did ships sail through the sky as if it were water? And most importantly, was the pavement he was hurtling towards at high speed much softer than it looked? Probably not, but a man could hope.
