《Lost In the Void. (Monster Evolution LitRpg)》Chapter 15. Waking Up

POV MC
Like being hit with cold water I awoke with a start. I laid there on the ground of the shed. Iron mask huh, did I get one of his skills. He had a mask on when he gave it to me. This will definitely make completing my quest easier that before. I will still need to prepare before I go and begin the slaughter. First I need to see what time of day it is right now.
Leaving the shack I looked at the sky and thought it looked a lot brighter than night so maybe late morning or a little after that. I slept in longer than I needed, but I will have to get up and ready for tonight. I got a body of one of the things I killed yesterday out of my tattoo and ate half of it then put it away.
Next I looked for something very heavy nearby to lift and train with. After 10 minutes I found a big rock slab laying on the ground. Picking it up was hard, so I used the tattoo to get it and I had used over 200 pounds (90.72 kg) taking up a large amount of space. I knew I couldn't fit anything else like that in there until I removed it or evolved into a higher tier monster. I ran up and down the hill while using my skills to damage myself and only stopped to heal and recover mp. When sitting there on top of the hill I began trying to lift the stone slab. I had a hard time lifting it above my head due to how long and big it was. So I would only lift a part of it to roll it over and repeat.
The training went the same as the times before. I was getting stronger faster probably because I made the training harder. I did this for a few hours then stopped to get ready and rest for tonight. Pulling out the rest of the thing I was eating earlier I finished it all.
Str + 9, Vit + 10, Agi + 8, Int + 2, Chs + 5. Some skills have increased in level.
After being able to shorten the system prompts I looked over my gains seeing something weird. What the fuck why did Chs increase all of a sudden? I haven't interacted with that… Did talking to the Timir increasing it that much? I was only there for an hour I think? I hope that Timir doesn't hurt himself I felt a real connection with him. Something inside me tells me to trust him, saying that he won't betray me.

I need to rest now, so I am in prefect condition. I headed to the shed door and just then I noticed that nothing ever came close to this area I was at for some reason. I felt eyes but all they did was watch from far away never coming towards the hill. I looked at the shed and wondered if the shed had some type of repulsive field to keep everything harmful away. Going inside I sat and began thinking of ways to begin the fight tonight.

POV Timir
As I sat there and watched the scene replay over and over. I contacted the only other god to knows that my best friend was still alive. Opening dream mirror to the Goddess of Chaos. “We need to talk about what has happened and what you know of the soul you saved.” I said to the glowing dark purple eyes of the Mother.
She smiled at me sending a shiver up my back. Causing the old scars from battles long ago to itch once again even though they are healed. “Why have you touched my newest child and brought his soul to your realm of Dreams? It has been many ages since someone has dared to mess with me Timir.” She asked coldly.
It was hard to keep myself composed in front of this overwhelming being. She has killed a ton of Gods and Goddesses before. I need to play this carefully, so I may help kill those responsible. Taking a deep breath I responded to her “You should know of why I called him after all you made him a blood bond to him to fix his soul. I fixed the damage done that you could not repair before he had his first evolution, that should make it safer for him and he won't die from it. I am his best friend before he was killed and after a while of not being able to contact him I called his soul here. Even if I was barely able to make a connection to him at all because of how changed his soul was from how it used to be.” I said meeting her gaze without wavering.
She looked softer at me than before some coldness fading away from her. Her glowing eyes even shone a lighter color of purple. “What do you know of the damage to his soul? If the Soul God or the God of Death ever found out that someone did that to a soul they would be enraged for someone breaking the rules. Of course, I know that when he came to me a woman of Light with 4 wings threw the ball that had sealed the rest of his soul. She had a yellow light glowing from her body and a white blue necklace with a gem that was sea blue.” She said.

My face hardened even more under my mask. I knew that she knew something but didn't want to believe that the only other friend we both had would betray the one she loved. “So it was her after all. She was the only one who could get close to him without anyone noticing something off. He probably didn't even fight back against her. But how did she kill him he had more resistances than most gods ever had. Not a lot of things could even hurt him anymore. She most likely had him come to an area where only the Light god and the strongest could enter and trapped him there as they tortured and killed him. Those bastards.” I spat with venom oozing from me.
She snarled as I said all of this to her trying to analyze every bit of information I had at my disposal. I showed her the dream crystal In was watching just mere moments ago before calling her.
Time went by slower in the realm of dreams this meant that both of us were able to plot out a plan to help my friend and kill those coming to kill him. And if everything went well he would be able to kill the God and his unfaithful wife responsible for the crimes they committed.
I made the Void dream mirrors for the both of us to be able to contact each other where ever we are at a moment's notice without outside interference.
After that she had asked me more about how he used to be and what he did in his free time. And she showed me what he was up to in the Void. We happily talked for a few more hours about stuff he had done and guessed what he would do in the future.
Once I saw his soul I knew right away he would not turn out like he had used to be. He would become a terrifying monster in the future, and I was okay with that. It didn't mean he would destroy everything in his path to power. He was kind at the very center of his soul but now with two outside pieces attached to his soul it may affect on an emotional level making it easier to become angry or happy it really depends. But that will have less of a role as he grows stronger and the skill I gave him should help strengthen his will power making him more in control. I just hope he doesn't get a berserker skill again it was a pain in my ass to help him learn how to control that.
“Well we will contact each other again every few weeks or when either one of us has a new piece of information. But should we tell the God of Death or Soul God about what those assholes did it would be easier to stop them from hurting him again?” I asked her.
“No because if word got out about it, they would wipe the evidence and wipe everyone who was involved memories. By the time the two of them got the message they would already be too late. Plus even with the dream crystal you have right there they may try to say you made it up by stitching dreams together. It is best to wait until we have them cornered and kill them. If any other gods say anything about it, we can show the evidence and tell them to fuck off or die. Since I can't leave here without destroying everything around me, I will wait for him to get strong enough to kill them all and take revenge. I will give him the name of Abaddon may this name grant him the power to destroy his enemies.” She said as she closed the communication on her end.
Abaddon the destroyer a better name than the one he had before I guess. Well time to check in on him anyway since he will be fighting soon. May you rule over your destiny this time old friend. We may be limited with our actions but when the time is right we shall strike together in battle once again as brothers in arms. The wicked should fear the coming of your rebirth. I can't wait to talk to you again soon it will take a while until you are ready and safe enough to talk.
Another projection opened up and showed the small monster Abaddon sitting on the floor resting. If only I had chosen to become a female then none of this would have ever happen.

Dear Spellbook (Link to rewrite in blurb)
A rewrite of this story has been posted here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/49881/dear-spellbook-a-fantasy-time-loop-rewrite Live. Study. Repeat. Tal is a sorcerer in a world where they are killed on sight, traveling with a man charged with carrying out the task. Every night Tal must pretend to study his spellbook to maintain his disguise as a Wizard’s Apprentice. If his disguise slips and his charade is uncovered, it will be his death. Seeking answers to mysteries that arose after his parent’s murder, Tal must accept any allies, no matter the risks, to uncover his family’s secret. But when he wakes up one morning to find himself trapped repeating the same day, he has to overcome his challenges all on his own. This story is an adaptation of a D&D campaign I ran but never was able to complete. I tried to capture the feel of a table-top RPG session —tropes and humor— without relying on the mechanics. This is not a litRPG or gamelit story and no D&D mechanics or system appear in the game. It follows one member of an adventuring party as he deals with the problems with that arise from being an adventurer. Namely, getting roped into adventures. The story has a time loop element, but will eventually move past that. This story explores the magic systems, the history, and the lore of the world through the lens of Tal's entries in his Spellbook and interludes from other written works in the world. New entries on Mondays Credit to JackOfHearts for the cover.
