《Lost In the Void. (Monster Evolution LitRpg)》Chapter 14. Dreams

Laying there asleep inside the shed I was able to drift off into the realm of dreams. Falling slowly into the deep ocean of dreams. Sinking further and further to a house that was always changing. There was no describing how the house changed the way it did, but I guessed that it was because the dream of a dream is always changing. The window opened and I floated into it. Inside was changing too, except for a rocking chair with tall being made of stars sat and watched me.
“Hello there my friend. It has been decades since you last came to visit my humble abode. You have changed my friend something is different about you. Why are you smaller than me now? You missed our meeting 9381 times in a row. Did something happen in the realm of Light?” The Star man said.
“Who are you and why am I here?” I responded to the star man. He looked hurt that I had forgotten him.
“What do you mean who am I? I am your best friend. We have been friends for as long as I could remember. We fought and killed together to survive the holy war. Wait why, why is your soul touched by Void. Where is the beautiful blue light you used to shine my friend? ” Star said sad and confused.
“I do not know of what you speak of. All I know is that I was trapped in darkness when the Mother of the Void saved me and brought me back to life. She had told me that my a piece of my soul was ripped out and destroyed. To save me she rebuilt my soul using a drop of her blood and hair to sew it back together. I can't remember anything before that except for a warning by the system to grow stronger to protect myself from the ones who did this to me in the first place because they would soon know of my return to life. Or something that was using the system sent me that message to me.” I said laying there on the floor by the star man's feet. His face contorted in rage as I finished what I was saying to him.
“I will have to thank the Chaos Goddess for her bringing you back to life. But to those who killed you will have to pay for their crimes of killing a Hero who was ending the war. You saved so many of different races, monster or demon it didn't care as long as the children were safe. You were so close to becoming a God of Protection. Damn it what happened while I was away my friend who has hurt you? If I knew this would happen I would have protected you and died in your place.” the Star man cried with tears and dying stars fell from his eyes. “Had I waited to become a God after you, you may still have been alive and safe.” he said full on crying now.
I didn't know this guy at all but felt a hole inside me grow and fill with anger as he cried for me. Something missing from me to remember our brotherhood. I felt the sadness deep within myself the very deep broken state of my older parts of my soul. “I may not remember you but when you cry It hurts a lot, so please do not cry.” I asked him holding my chest where it started to hurt.

He wiped his tears and picked me up to hug me, holding me close to his chest as if to never let go of me again. “You were always too kind my friend even now you still act the same. Why didn't your partner warn me of the danger you were in? She could have sent word to me as soon as she felt you in danger through the bond.” He asked no one in particular.
I asked him about the dream I had where I heard a voice talking to itself and repeated what it said to him. “After the dream I couldn't handle being around the other monsters around the holy pond in the void. I almost broke a rule to not attack anything there and ran to the plains where I fought with a Hive mind enslaved swarm that attacked me. I didn't want to lose control again like that, so I tried to find a place to be alone in. Then I found one in an area of the darker forest.” I said.
He looked at me then put his hand on my forehead and pushed mana through to put the dream on a projection near him. The dream I had that night was played again but this time I saw a figure of a man that glowed a faint blue. He was weakened and stick thin. A huge hole in his chest where his heart used to be being now empty. 6 broken wings lay behind him torn and chained. Seals covered the body of the man. In his eyes were only shock and sadness. The hands he used to hold others with were covered in a molten white metal. The legs were gone off to the side shredded away to where even the bone were a powder.
It hurt me to watch the screen that played. My soul hurt so much to even listen to what the man was saying. I held onto the Star God in front of me while his face was gone and in its place was a mask. He shook with rage as he watched the dream play over and over again. “They will pay for betraying you dear brother. I shall make them bleed and suffer endless torment only a dream can have. To betray his own child and do this to you. She must have been in on it too since she would have known what was happening to you. And your father was the only one who could have had the power to stop you in this way. Those are the seals of his and your wife's creation to be used on insane or very evil monsters.” Star said with steel in his voice. He held me against his chest trying hard not to cry.
“It is all right now I don't remember what happened before the Mother saved me. But I need to get stronger so that I never get like that ever.” I said pointing at the projection. “By the way is that what I used to look like? And who are you?” I asked the man holding me like I was a baby. Oh! Wait I guess I am one right now.

He looked at me then proceeded to call forth another smaller person. “Take the memory crystal here and give it to the Inquisitor for further analysis into the memory that was burned into his soul. And when she is done have her ready the Order of Dreams. They will not rest until we have gathered more evidence of the crimes they have committed. Now go and give my order with haste.” Star said. “I hate that you do not remember me at all my friend and dear brother. I am Timir God of Dreams, I should have introduced myself sooner knowing that you could not remember me. And yes that is you or used to be what you were in the past. You were the second-highest tier angel to currently live in the realm of Light and Order. So close to becoming a god but so much stronger than those around you, not many could with stand your might. You were a protector of innocents and savior of those guilty helping them walk the right path to redemption. You sheltered millions of children who lost their parents to war and gave them a place to learn and thrive in no matter what the race or species. Everyone loved you because of everything you did. If you are dead I will need to save those who you rescued before they are killed or made into soldiers to get a false revenge on those who accused of murdering you. Also, I will need to evacuate the schools and staff to get them out of the way too. When you return to the Realm of the Void hurry and become stronger because there will not be a lot of time before a new war starts and I will need your help with that. It is a shame that you must return to your roots of bloodshed and slaughter. I would call you by your old name because I do not know if that will alert the Light whose name I will not say to not draw his attention. Light has a weakness to Darkness and Order has one to Chaos. You must build yourself up to be able to destroy them. Learn Darkness and Void magic. Those will kill Light and his followers who will be sent to hunt you.” the star man said.
“I have light and void magic already. Darkness magic is still out of my reach for now. I chose a new species that specializes in physical and magical combat with both close to mid-range capabilities. I am close to my first evolution and class rank up. The Mother even gave me a second quest to get rid of a Hive Mind and the enslaved horde that is a follower of a Hive Mind God that wants to invade her territory. I killed over 30 of its pawns the last time I fought them.” I said to him. I gave him more information than I wanted to, but it felt right to tell him about this. Like talking to him just made everything better and nothing would be wrong with it. I felt him shift and loosen his grip on me.
“If you are going to fight a Hive Mind you will need a new skill to help you out in the long run with killing it and anything like it. I will help solidify the patch work she when she saved you and your soul. And during this I will grant you a new passive skill that will strengthen your mind and soul also raising your will power too, making it harder to control you.” Timir responded to me with kindness in his voice. His face was still hidden, but I could tell that he wanted to protect me. He placed his hand on my chest and pushed mana into me as a piece of him went inside me too.
All I felt was love and happiness from him as my soul was strengthened even more. He fixed what the Mother could not heal and helped made the connection stronger between the three of us as he added himself into the mix with a tiny piece of himself. I felt so much better and more in control of myself. Like nothing could touch my soul without my permission.
“The stronger you become, the more the pieces of mine and the Void Mother's will fully merge and become yours. You will be granted more options when evolving and class upgrades. All I will ask is for you to be safe and grow enough to hold back the tide of Light followers that will come after you. We won't be able to give direct help since that would mean he would be able to get involved into the matter too. You will also be not be attacked be followers of massively high tier do to the restrictions that the Mother has placed in advance. Keep growing your Void powers and all will be fine. I love you my friend now it is time for you to return to where you came from before you are stuck here forever. You can't say for long at lower tiers, wait until at least 8th tier before you are able to last long here.” Timir kissed my forehead and before I could respond to him I was already floating back to where I had come from.
After I left the ever changing house I heard a scream and crying while something broke inside the house. I could't even talk as I started to rocket up towards the surface of the dream about to wake up. I hoped that he would be safe.
I layed there with my eyes closed as I was sad that I couldn't talk longer with Timir. He helped fix parts of my soul and even given me a new skill, I hope we can meet again my friend.
Skill Gained Iron Mask Lv 1/40 Tier 4. Lock your mind and soul from the outside world and strengthen your will to be as hard as Iron. Given as a gift from the new God of Dreams Timir.

My Girlfriend, the Necromancer
The power of the Orb cleaves the skies and shatters the earth. It heralds the advent of a new era, one where humanity is no longer at the top of the food chain and we must rise to the challenge when faced with our own extinction as a species. I could hardly care less. All I ever wanted was to love my Allie, to grow old and wrinkly by her side as I held her hand before taking my last breath on this green earth. To have our love echo through the ages, an ode to the last great love story on the planet, one that would endure the end of humanity, the breaking of the world, and even defy the dread summons of Death itself. It’s said that when the gods unleash their fury upon mortal kind, they grant their wishes. Well, crap. This is a gritty end of the world survival story with modern fantasy/romance/game-like elements in it. The main focus will be character development while stats and menus are there as a fun vehicle to empower the imagination. This is a work in progress and I deeply appreciate any helpful suggestions, so please don't be shy with input! Currently posting at least one chapter per week.

Demons Don't Lie
Algier, average human and recent convict, has committed the gravest sin of all: demon slaying. His fate? To participate in the Culling, a battle-royale style tournament that’s televised live to the world, where all the worst criminals go to die. As with all tournaments, a prize is on the line. If Algier survives, he can have any wish granted by the Marquises, the new rulers of Earth following the demons’ invasion. However, there’s little hope for survival in a tournament designed to have demons do the work of the executioner, especially for a human. Demons are stronger, faster, wiser, and more talented than the average human, and, despite his crime, Algier is no demon hunter. Mentally defeated before the tournament even begins, Algier is torn between becoming another demon’s points and fighting on in his dead mother’s legacy. But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally. It's up to the reader to decide what is the truth and what is the lie. Promotion Full quality cover image
