《W.A.R.F.R.A.M.E.》Chapter Twenty One: Victory & Affection

After disposing of Vincent’s Jakqoo, the three frames of Song of Victory focused their attack on the closest available enemy unit, the Rosenkavalier. The J-Gareth and the other two Angel frames separated and planned to attack Anna from three different directions. The J-Gareth twirled its halberd as it made a beeline for the Rosenkavalier. Anna fired beams from under her shield at one of the Angel frames before lashing her whip at another. However, none of her attacks hit.
Facing three on one gave her much difficulty. Anna then launched her rose bits, hoping to lessen the pressure she was getting from the three units. She had the two rose bits target JoJou, while she dealt with the remaining two Angel frames.
One of the Angel frames fired its beam crossbow at Anna. Anna backed away and blocked the attack when she was alerted of the second Angel frame about to attack her from behind with its pike. Anna quickly reacted and shot out her heat whip and it wrapped around the Angel frame before its attack could land. Having bound the Angel frame, Anna sent out a stream of electricity and shocked the Angel frame, before tossing it to its counterpart. The two frames crashed against each other and tumbled to the ground.
However, that was not enough to deter them as they quickly got back to their feet. JoJo then came dashing towards the Rosenkavalier after having dealt with the rose bit. “Is that all you’ve got Anna? I’m a bit disappointed. I thought you’d put up more of a fight. I guess your team will lose in the qualifiers again this year.” Despite the pressure she was facing, Anna still had time for a snarky remark, “Fight’s not over yet. There is still a chance for your team to lose this battle.”
The three units got back together and continued their assault on the single frame. JoJo, smirked inside her cockpit, “Hey Anna, did you know that, in a real war, just a small difference in fighting strength can easily decide the outcome of the battle. We’ve already taken down one of your units. And at the moment, it’s a three on one battle. With one unit down and one unaccounted for, you’re all alone. This battle is ours.” The trio charged in one by one as Anna tried to make her escape as she dashes away backwards while facing the three units. “A continuous wave of attacks. You are trying to wear me down. Unfortunately, it’s not enough.” JoJo and her team were able to back Anna to a wall. However, she was smirking instead of panicking, “Justin, now!”
Just as JoJou was about to celebrate her victory, something unexpected happen. A large manta ray swooped in and carried the Angel frame to her left, away into the air. After being flown up into the air, it was dropped. And as it was falling, the manta ray came back and cut the Angel frame down the middle with its razor-sharp fin blade. After being bisected, the two halves of the frame were shot out of the sky by a frame that was quickly flying toward the flying sea creature.

The manta ray then came back and the Mantaraia landed on the large fish. The Mantaraia then flew above the battlefield. Having taken out one of the enemy units, Justin observed the number of enemy units left on his screen, “Now, we’re even. You’ve lost your numbers advantage. It’s time for us to make a comeback.”
After one of the Angel frames was whisked away, the J-Gareth and the other Angel frame separated. They knew that sticking together made them easier targets. After getting her orders, the second Angel frame dashed backwards towards the lake. It kept firing its crossbow at the Rosenkavalier. Once it was hovering on top of the lake, a single red dot shined. “We’re not even. Now we’re the ones with the numerical advantage.”
Missiles flew out of the surface of the lake and they caught the second Angel frame off guard. The explosions sent the unit into the air when Vincent’s Jakqoo flew out of the water and threw his heat war hawk axe. The axe spun and hit the Angel right in the forehead before Vincent unleashed a barrage of bullets and missiles from his arsenal before finally throwing his dispersion grenade. The unit exploded under the barrage of attacks, and the final consecutive explosions from the grenade were the icing on the cake of its destruction.
Seeing another one of her teammates falling, an enraged JoJo howled, “You b******. You couldn’t even make it past the first rounds of the qualifiers. How dare you do this to us?” The J-Gareth raised its shield and began to spin around and fired the missiles in its shield. The missiles flew in every direction. Vincent, Anna, and Justin were all busy dodging the attack and trying to shoot down as many as possible. The number of missiles being shot out made it impossible to shoot all of them down.
Justin and Vincent took the brunt of the attack while Anna gained some distance. “Enough is enough, JoJo. Now that you’re the one who’s losing, you’re throwing a tantrum. Grow up.” The Rosenkavalier raised its left arm and aligned it with its back and the large blue rose on the back of the Rosenkavalier moved to the shield along the pathway. Having gotten the large rose on top of the shield, Anna inserted her rapier into the shield. A mechanical voice then sounded, “Critical Assault: Rosenstrum!”
Sparks flew as the rapier was pulled out of the shield and the large blue rose began turning until it was spinning. As the rose spun, it began to bloom and a strong torrent of wind was unleashed and blue rose petals were blown with the wind. The wind struck the J-Gareth and a tornado formed beneath its feet. The missiles that the J-Gareth launched backfired as they exploded inside the tornado and inflicting damage to itself. At the same time, the rose petals were also inflicting damage as they acted like small razor blades that spun around the target.
As the J-Gareth was taking damage from the rose petals and the tornado, the Rosenkavalier charges toward it and thrusts out its rapier after it had been coated with energy. The attack sent the J-Gareth crashing into the ground. The ground caved in and formed a crater beneath the frame.

After being sent crashing, Vincent noticed that the J-Gareth had yet to fall. He remembered being told that Champion types tend to have stronger bodies and it would take more effort from Warrior and Angel type frames to take them down. Vincent knew he was right when he saw that the J-Gareth thrust out its halberd on the Rosenkavalier that was standing victoriously over it while it was down. The sneak attack landed and the Rosenkavalier had the halberd pierced through it as it fell and exploded.
Seeing this, Vincent sent a barrage of missiles at the downed frame. The ground beneath it cracked and crumbled from the resulting explosions. In the deep vast darkness of space, a space colony had an explosion and it was venting atmosphere. A hole had been created and everything was being sucked out through the hole. Despite the damage it suffered, the J-Gareth was still pretty much intact as it falls through the hole and into the endless void of space.
The alarms inside JoJo’s cockpit were blaring as she panicked, “I’m being sucked out. My J-Gareth!” A tear fell down her cheek as she cried in fear. Seeing this scene, Anna and the other two girls from JoJo’s team panicked “JoJou”. To them, the experience of piloting a frame felt completely real. So, seeing a frame being suddenly pulled into the void of space made them worried. The Jakqoo flew in at the last second and grabbed the hand of the J-Gareth as it was falling, while Mantaraia grabbed the Jakqoo’s hand and as pulling it back into the colony.
As she was being pulled up, JoJo watched the Jakqoo through her screen. “Why would you save me? Am I not your enemy?” Vincent snickered, “Because, you love this game just as much as everybody here. It’d be sad to see you no longer enjoying WARFRAME just because of one setback.” After being pulled back to safety, Vincent gave JoJu the shield she had dropped after suffering from Anna’s ultimate attack. “Here, you’ve got a really amazing shield by the way.”
Inside her cockpit, JoJou was blushing. She sighs while shaking her head, “What was your name again?” Vincent answers her question and tells her his name, “The name’s Vincent, Vincent Porter.” JoJo released an exasperated breath, “Vincent, it’s our loss.” JoJo then yielded and pressed a button ‘Concede’, on her panel.
The mechanical voice spoke, “Battle over. Concession confirmed.” While an announcement appeared on the viewer’s screen, ‘WARFRAME Battle Over!’ The crowd of students that were watching nearby cheered for the victory of the home team, “Yeah, our team won”. They had just witnessed a great game. Mister Myers was smiling from ear to ear. He got up from his seat and shook the hand of the faculty advisor from St, Agatha’s, “Good game, Alice. Your team was unexpectedly strong. Their playstyle matches you quite well.” Sister Alice was grinning with a smug, “Of course. I’ve been training them, what do you expect? Even though we lost this time, don’t expect the same result in the qualifiers.” The two faculty advisors shook hands in respect.
After the battle ended, all six pilots exited their cockpit pods. Anna gave her teammates a thumbs up, “Even though I lost near the end, the two of you did great. But we have to work on our teamwork.” Justin criticized, “We could’ve won a lot faster if someone hadn’t fallen for such a simple trap. I thought you said you were a great FPS gamer. How could you fall for something like that? Was that just boasting on your part?” Justin pulled on Vincent’s cheeks. Vincent, in turn, retaliated, “It wasn’t boasting. I just haven’t fought against that many people, that’s all. I usually play against two other teams from my school. Besides, we still won in the end. So why are you complaining?” Justin commented, “It was beginner’s luck. Don’t hope that you’ll be able to repeat it.” As the two of them were arguing, JoJo observed Vincent, her cheeks were red, “Vincent Porter”.
The following day, Vincent, Anna, Justin and Maya were walking to school together. Maya was overjoyed, “I heard you won yesterday’s practice match. Good work, everyone.” Justin was blushing, “Actually, it was nothing at all. We just gave it our all and won.” When they arrived, they noticed JoJo standing outside the school entrance. Anna asks “JoJo, why are you here? Do you want a rematch?” But JoJo just ignored Anna and ran over to Vincent the moment she spotted him.
“Good morning Vincent.” “Hey, you’re the girl from yesterday, the captain of Song of Victory…” Before he could finish, JoJo handed Vincent a brown paper bag. “I made you some lunch, here, take it.” Vincent was excited by the notion of getting a second free lunch meal. “Seriously, thanks a lot, JoJo.” JoJo waved goodbye, “Well then, bye.” She then ran to a blue car and it drove away, inside the car, JoJo blushed, “He remembered my name.” The person driving the car was happy for JoJo.
Vincent on the other hand was happily eyeing his new lunch, “Alright, I got a second lunch. This is awesome.” Justin looked at the lunch bag in Vincent’s hands, “Vincent, do you even understand what this means?” Vincent answers, “Heck yeah, I just got myself a second serving for lunch.” Maya, Anna, and Justin all sigh in disappointment. Anna comments, “So, you really don’t get it. I kind of feel sorry for JoJo now.” Maya chides in, “That’s just the type of person he is. He’s clueless on this type of thing.”
