《W.A.R.F.R.A.M.E.》Chapter Sixteen: Bell

Vincent looked around the lobby and saw various screens with various information such as raid battles, collection missions, etc. Everyone there talked to each other with big smiles on their faces. Vincent figured, they must be having a lot of fun. “Wow, there really are a lot of people here. And everyone looks like they’re enjoying themselves here. And their outfits look pretty cool too. You can’t get something like that in the real world. Well, unless you’re a cosplayer.” Justin then informed Vincent, “You can also get something like that if you want. A costume change I mean. As long as you make some progress in the game, you can get quite a bit of stuff.”
Anna then woke Vincent up from his stupor, “Alright, enough talk you two. We should head to the mission counter to get Vincent accustomed to how things work around here. And do a mission while we’re at it.” As the trio walked towards the counter, they passed by a window. Vincent saw that world outside of the lobby and it was a realistic recreation of the real world except with a more modern and futuristic aesthetic. Blue skies and white clouds hang over a futuristic city. Vincent was amazed by the work the developers had worked on. The city looked so detailed.
While he was gawking at the sight, a frame passed by as it flew past them. It looked similar to his Jakqoo. Vincent stopped taking in the sights when he noticed that his friends had left him, and had already gone to the counter. Vincent was about to move in their direction when his path was blocked by a man with green hair in a brown aviator’s jacket. “Hey there, new guy. You looking for something?” Before Vincent could refuse, the guy leaned in, “I can get you anything you want. Be it a good deal on parts, or some rare reward items. I can get anything you want.”
However, just before the man could continue with his sales pitch, he felt his ear being painfully tugged. The person that tugged his ear was a lady in her late twenties, with auburn hair and green eyes. Her skin was brown and tanned. She wore a black dress with a slit that revealed part of her left thigh all the way down to her scarlet high heel shoes. Over her dress, she wore a long red coat, and she had a large red hat on her head.

The man complained as his ear was being tugged, “Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow. Hey, what’s the big idea?” The man was just about to ask, who was the perpetrator behind his sudden assault? But when he turned around, he caught sight of his assailant. The man’s expression changed from one of anger and rage to one of fear. The lady that pulled on his ear glared at him, “Yancy, I specifically remember you saying that you’d quit your shady business with beginners, and stop trying to con them out of their points.” Yancy panics. When the lady released him from her grip, he immediately ran away.
The lady, with her voluptuous red lips, eyed Vincent up and down. “I take it, that you are a first-timer?” Vincent nods, “Yeah, I was just about to go meet up with my friends.” Vincent had a lot of questions, one of them being, "Why did you help me?" but he decided that the best question to ask at such a moment was, “And who might you be?” The lady smiled and inched closer to Vincent to get a good look at him, “You can call me Isabella. Bel for short. I’m a volunteer navigator for new guys like you. It is my job is to make sure that beginners such as yourself, are able to enjoy Nexus to its full extent. Just a fair warning, I’m kind of a busy body.” Bell then opened her profile window and showed it to Vincent. “Do you trust me now? I know quite a bit about Nexus. I’m pretty sure I can show you around. But first, I offer a greeting as a representative. “Welcome to the Nexus. I hope you enjoy your time with us.”
Bell led Vincent to a large circular counter in the middle of the lobby. A holographic image of the globe floated and slowly rotated above the counter. “This is the mission counter. This is where you can initiate battles and take on missions. I recommend starting with beginner difficulty and working your way up. There are also free battle missions and tutorial modes. You should try that and get used to your controls.” When they arrived at the counter, Anna and Justin were already waiting for Vincent. Anna crossed her arms, “Where were you? You almost had us worried. And who is this?”

Bell greeted Anna and Justin, “Hi, I’m Isabella. Bell for short. I’m a volunteer navigator here. Vincent here seemed lost when I caught sight of him. A guy was just about to scam him, but I got there just in time to stop him from doing anything he might regret later.” Anna thanked Bel for helping Vincent. Justin observed Bel and nodded. He muttered under his breath, “Umm, mature women are more attractive.” Bel and Anna heard him and Anna conks him on the head. A large swell grew on Justin’s head. Anna was angry while Bell placed her hand over her mouth and giggled. Anna screams in Justin’s ear, “Are you saying I’m not mature enough?”
The three of them approached the female AI behind the counter and she greets them and asks, “Welcome to Nexus. What sort of mission would you like to undertake?” Vincent, Justin, and Anna were discussing what sort of mission they should undertake when Bell made a suggestion, “How about we help Vincent here by doing a tutorial mission. Let him get a handle on things.” Anna nods, “Not a bad idea. I’ve done a tutorial mission, and it was pretty easy. Yeah, maybe we should let Vincent try it. He’ll do the mission, and we’ll help him out if things get too hot.”
Bell smiles, “Alright Vincent, you choose the mission and I’ll navigate in the gallery mode.” Vincent approached the counter and opened the mission select window. The AI advised him and he scrolled down searching for the tutorial mission. Having found what he was looking for, Vincent tapped on the screen and the mission details were displayed. ‘Forest Tutorial Battle: Novice Class. Do you accept this mission?’ a ‘Yes and ‘No’ options appeared and Vincent tapped on ‘Yes’.
Bell then nods in satisfaction, “Okay, let’s go to the hangar and check on your frames.” Vincent found the statement puzzling, “Hangar? How do we get there?” Bell opened a window, “Like this”. The scene around them shifted. Vincent, Anna, Justin, and Bell were now in front of a shop, on a shopping street, before their surroundings changed again. They were now standing beside a large fountain in the middle of a park. The scene shifted once more and they were now in a brightly lit large grey room. Not too far from them, Vincent spotted his frame. It stood more than 50 feet tall. Vincent marveled at the sight of all three frames. They were larger than he had imagined.
“Whoa, they’re huge,” Vincent commented. Justin admired his work, “Of course they’re huge. Up close, this is their actual size. With the offline game, you don’t really get to see the whole scope of the game. But in here, it is just amazing.” Bell adds on, “You can check on the condition of your frame here. From its condition to its armament and equipment. But I must say, the Jakqoo needs some work. I’m guessing this isn’t the finalized product.” Vincent nods, “Yup, I just built this guy, and I wanted to test him out. Anna recommended I hit two birds with one stone and test it in the Nexus.” Bell nods, in agreement, “You made the right decision on that one.”
Bell then observed the Rosenkavalier, “I like the whole rose motif. It looks like a knight of the blue rose.” Anna thanked Bel for her compliment, "Thanks, that was what I was going for.” Bell then evaluated Mantaraia, “This one is very well done. But everything about it looks very custom. It's like it was personally drawn by a WARFRAME artist. That being said, it looks kind of fishy.” Anna and Vincent could not hold back their laughter after hearing Bel’s evaluation. Justin looked away, his face was completely red.
Bell smiles looking at the embarrassed Justin, “Alright, alright, enough laughing. Let’s get down to business. Alright everyone, after you’re done checking your frames, it’ll be time for that. This one should feel more real as compared to its offline counterpart. How about it Vincent. Care to give it a try? I'm pretty sure you'll like it. Everyone does.” Vincent looked at Bell in confusion.
