It was in the early hours and the sun was just peeking out over the horizon. Vincent jogged around the streets and headed to the park. He passed by several shops along the way. During his morning jog, Vincent happily thought about the e-mail he had sent to his parents, who were away on business. When he wrote the letter, he could not help but write to them about his most recent experience in school. He was enjoying his time living with his sister as well as studying in a new school, he had made a few friends already.

The letter goes on to say, “Dear mom and dad. How are you? I’m doing great. Are you still busy with work in Tokyo? Living with Maya has been a blast. Even though she has a busy schedule with school and her modeling job, she still makes time for me, her dear old loveable little brother. She makes time out of her busy schedule to prepare meals for me. I’m always grateful to have her as a sister. She really knows how to take care of me. At first, I was disappointed that the school didn’t really have any FPS clubs or E-Sports clubs for that matter. But I did find something else that interested me here. Have you ever heard of WARFRAME? Apparently, it’s pretty big here. You assemble a set of cards into this thing called a reader and you plug it into the machine. The machine materializes the robot you had assembled and sends it into the game for you to battle. It wasn’t just a card battle like I usually see people playing. You know, the ones where people place cards on a table and declare the moves that they were going to make. This one is far more exhilarating. I get to move the robots called frames. It’s like in one of those sci-fi shows where people get to pilot robots instead of planes. The experience I’ve had playing the game is indescribable. I know you’ve told me not to play too many games. But this one feels different. I feel like it’s not just a game, but an experience. Mom, dad, through WARFRAME, I feel like I can make a lot of friends and rivals. And instead of chatting with a faceless voice online. I actually meet the people while playing this game. Well, that’s all for now. I’ll send another letter soon. Sincerely yours, Vincent.”

After his morning jog, Vincent returned home and got ready for school. He had breakfast with his sister before the both of them cleaned up and got ready to go to school. Just after Vincent stepped passed through the threshold of their door, Maya asks, “Vincent, you didn’t forget anything, did you? How about your lunch money, did you remember to bring that with you this time?”

Vincent smiles, “Relax, Maya. I didn’t forget anything. And my lunch money’s right here.” Vincent patted his jacket pocket and took out the money to reassure his sister. Just as they were leaving and locking up, they hear two voices calling out to them, “Good Morning, Vincent. Good morning, Maya.” Maya and Vincent saw that the source of the voice was standing in the driveway. It was Anna.

“Anna?” Vincent asked. Maya spoke with delight, “Anna, did you come to walk to school with Vincent?” Anna embarrassingly answers, “Um, well, not really. Actually, he’s the one who wanted to walk with you to school.” Anna steps aside and Justin reveals himself. “Vincent, I came by to walk to school with you,” Justin spoke with a big smile plastered all over his face.

Vincent was puzzled. Justin’s personality had made a complete 180. “Excuse me?” Maya tried to remember Vincent’s new friend, but she could not recall his name, “And you are…?” Justin happily answers, “I’m Justin. Justin Walker. I’m Vincent’s classmate. I’m also in the WARFRAME club with him. We promised that we’d walk to school together yesterday.”

Vincent runs up to Justin, “Hey, when did I ever promise that? I don’t remember ever making a promise like that.” Justin places his arm over Vincent’s shoulder and brings him in close, and he spoke loud enough for Maya to hear. He used a lot of strength to make sure Vincent didn’t struggle to break free and to make it look like they were palling around. “We made the promise yesterday remember? Did you forget it already? Because I heard things easily slip your mind when you're preoccupied with something.” Maya places her index finger on her chin as she recalled all the times Vincent forgot things, “He’s right, Vincent. You do have a tendency to forget things when you have something on your mind. So how about this, why don’t we all walk to school together.” Justin frees Vincent from his grip and answers with glee, “Alright!”

Maya walked in front with Anna beside her while Vincent and Justin were right behind them. Anna and Maya were happily enjoying their walk, but Vincent and Justin did not share the sentiment. Justin was blissfully happy that he was able to walk with Maya to school. Vincent on the other hand was dissatisfied with the enthusiasm Justin was showing. He was suspicious of his classmate’s intentions. “I knew it. You’re here for Maya, aren’t you? You have no interest in walking with me to school whatsoever, am I right?”

Justin scoffs, “Of course you’re right. What other reason could I possibly have to come to your house other than to see your lovely sister?” Vincent grumbles, “I thought you’d be on your knees, begging me to let you into the club.” Justin coughs, “You don’t have the authority to deny me entry into the club. Anna is the one who has that right.”

Anna slows down and listens in on the conversation Justin and Vincent were having. She then said, “You’re welcome to the club at any time. With you here, our chances of getting to nationals won’t be a pipe dream. After all, this is Frank’s final year to get us to nationals.” Justin thanks Anna for the invite, “Thank you, Anna. By the way, who is this Frank that you mentioned?” Vincent then butts in, “Yeah, who’s Frank? I heard you talking about him with the teacher the other day.”

Anna goes on to explain, “Frank’s the president of the club.” Vincent and Justin were surprised, “I thought you were the president Anna,” Justin exclaimed. Then Vincent chips in, “I’ve never seen Frank in the club. Where has he been all this time? He wasn’t even around to help during our battle to stop the TTCCC from absorbing our club. What kind of president doesn’t even defends his club?”

Anna growls at Vincent, “You shouldn’t talk about him behind his back like that. There is a reason Frank couldn’t make it to that match. And I wasn’t going to force him to fight.” Justin was puzzled, “What do you mean?” Anna sighs, “Frank’s in the hospital at the moment.” Vincent asks, “What’s wrong with him?” Anna shook her head and kept silent. She did not want to discuss the matter further.

Justin then recalled something, “I just remembered, there’s something we have to do before I can be a part of the WARFRAME Club. It could prove to be problematic.” Anna then had an image of Danny appear in her head, “You’re talking about Danny, right?" Justin nods, “In order to legally allow me to help him in that battle, he registered me to the TTCCC. I’m not even sure whether or not he’s going to let me transfer to the WARFRAME Club.” Anna with her mood now perked up along with Vincent, simultaneously gave a response full of pep. “It won’t be a problem. Just leave it to me!”
