《W.A.R.F.R.A.M.E.》Chapter Four: The First Battle (Part 2)

News of the battle quickly spread around the school, however, most of the students ignored it, because their interests lie elsewhere. Vincent, Anna, and Danny were already in the cockpits and were initiating the battle. A man in his thirties walks into the club room and took a seat. He stared at the screen of the battle taking place. Inside the cockpit, Anna zoomed in on Danny’s unit, "A Centurion. As expected of the Card Committee president. His frame is assembled really well. But why is it chartreuse? That colour is so gaudy for a Centurion.” Anna watched as the warrior frame dashed through the battlefield. It looked just like a roman soldier except with modern weapons. It even has the iconic red mane helmet that looks like a mohawk
Danny comments with a smug, "This is nothing. Any member of the committee could assemble something like this in a matter of minutes. But what the hell do you mean gaudy? I think chartreuse is a great colour choice.” Anna retorts, "Yeah, but not on a Centurion.” Danny starts shooting at Vincent and Anna. The Mantaraia quickly evades, while Rosenkavalier leapt onto a nearby rock. "Don’t worry Anna, I’ve got this.” Vincent fires his Depth Launcher and Anna panicked, "Vincent wait. If you keep moving forward like this…” Before she could finish what she was about to say, Vincent had already dashed onward. The Centurion easily blocks the attack with its shield before firing its rifle. The beam hits the Depth Launcher, destroying it as it explodes after Vincent drops it from his hand. Danny sneers, "Like I said before, you’re a total newb.” The sudden hit sent Mantaraia tumbling onto the ground.
The Centurion puts away its rifle and pulls a sword from its shield. Anna yells, “Vincent, watch out.” As the Centurion was about to swing its sword and bisect Mantaraia, Rosenkavalier stands between the two frames and blocks the attack with its rapier. Sparks flew as the two clashed swords.
Danny sneers, "You obsess over WARFRAME Anna, but allow me to enlighten you on some truth.” Anna was baffled by Danny’s sudden outburst. Danny continues to explain, "The Student Body Council are considering shutting down the WARFRAME Battle Club.” “They’re going to shut down the club!?” Anna was distracted by Danny and he took this opportunity to break away from her and fired missiles from the missile pods attached to its legs.

Rosenkavalier suffered severe damage from the sudden sneak attack. Parts of its body were covered in cracks and some circuitry was even visible. The entire frame was covered with currents of electricity, signifying the damage it had taken.
Danny goes on to hit her when she was down by saying, "You’ll be shut down on the grounds that you’re inferior to the TTCCC at not just assembling but battles as well.” Anna was wide-eyed as a realization suddenly came to her, "That’s why you challenged us. You A*****e!” Danny was disappointed in Anna, "Multiple times, I’ve asked you to join my committee, but you rejected every single one of my offers. You spurned my really kindness, Anna!”
Centurion charges in with its sword drawn, but Rosenkavalier retaliates by firing beams from under its shield. "Oh give me a break Danny. You were just being selfish.” The Centurion kept dashing forward while avoiding the beams. Just as the attack was about to land. A spear appeared and parried the sword. The force behind the sudden attack was so strong that the Centurion’s sword was flung out of his grasp and lodged itself into the ground.
Centurion turned its head to locate the source of the interference only to see Mantaraia wielding a spear. "Y… You got in my way”, Danny stuttered. Mantaraia had its eyes firmly locked onto Centurion. "I’m your opponent, remember.” Mantaraia turned its body and kicked Centurion. The attack was blocked but it was enough to give Anna and Vincent room to breathe.
Vincent twirled the spear in Mantaraia’s hand and dashed forward. The Centurion took out a beam sword from its waist and activated it. He pointed his weapon at Vincent. The two units charged at each other and clashed. They made several exchanges in the span of 10 seconds. Vincent then unleashed a barrage of thrusts. Centurion was able to block most of the attacks with its shield but a few were able to pass through its defences and struck its shoulder, knee and elbow.
The machine dropped to the ground unable to stand after its knee was hit. Taking this opportunity, Vincent made some distance between the two units before he scrolled through the weapons until they stopped at torpedoes. The manta ray on Mantaraia’s back raised itself until it was perpendicular to the frame. It fired the torpedoes under its fins. The torpedoes flew across the air and hit the Centurion and an explosion occurred. When the dust settled, there was no longer any sign of Centurion. He had been destroyed by the blast.

Inside the cockpit, Danny slammed his hands against the console, the interior of the cockpit released red light instead of blue, indicating that his unit had been destroyed. "How is this even possible? Losing to a total newb. That guy must’ve gotten lucky. Yeah, that must be it. Otherwise, how could I have lost? Plus, his frame looks kinda fishy.” Anna looked at her screen in bewilderment."I can’t believe that this was Vincent’s first-ever WARFRAME Battle.” The man watched as Vincent won his first ever battle. "Not bad kid. You’ve got quite the potential. You look like the champ when he first started out.”
Vincent slams the bud of the spear into the ground and proclaims to Anna. “So, how was my first battle, Anna. I think I did pretty well if I do say so myself.” Anna nods in agreement. “You did okay, but still a little rough around the edges.” Just as Vincent and Anna as about to celebrate their victory, they both received a notification. ‘New Pilot Has Joined the Battle. Justin Walker, Cestus’, the sudden appearance of the notification surprised the two pilots.
Mantaraia suddenly crashed into a rock after being shot from behind. Mantaraia got back up and turned around to see its attacker. Vincent comments, "Not cool dude. It is so not cool to attack someone from behind.” The pilot of the Cestus did not respond. Instead, it dashed forwards and kept shooting its bazooka. Anna warns Vincent, "Be careful Vincent. That thing is using a scatter bazooka. The shot will scatter into little pellets after a certain distance. It’s basically the bazooka version of a shotgun. Vincent tried to keep his distance but it was too late. Anna had warned him too late and he was shot down.
After falling, Mantaraia got back up after much difficulty. Electric currents snaked around its body. The manta ray once again raised itself until it was perpendicular to the frame. It fired the beams on its shoulders, but the new enemy easily dodges the attack. Vincent then heard an announcement from the mechanical voice, “Critical Assault: Hammer Strike!” Hearing the mention of a critical assault, Anna panicked and yelled. “Vincent you have got to get out of there. This guy is unleashing his ultimate attack!”
Cestus easily avoids the beams by a narrow margin. As particles of energy gathered on the stirrup knuckle. It showed how skilful the pilot of Cestus was. It got up close and personal to the Mantaraia. Vincent tried to fend off the incoming attack, but when he thrusts out his spear. Cestus easily avoids it and lands a punch with its stirrup knuckle on Mantaraia’s chest. All of the gathered energy was unleashed at a single concentrated point.
The entire torso cracked. The cracks expanded until they shattered and the electric currents snaked around even more until they exploded. After Vincent was defeated, the mechanical voice announced, "Battle Ended!” The entire field disappeared and so did the Rosenkavalier. When everyone exited the cockpit, they wanted to get a good look at the pilot that took down Vincent. Danny thought, "If I can get this guy on my side. I’ll have a better chance at getting Anna to join the committee and shutting down the WARFRAME Club for good."
The person that came out of the fourth pod was a young man, age to be about 16 years old. He had blonde hair and wore a white and green striped shirt under a maroon coloured blazer. “Ahh, it’s you!” Vincent rudely pointed at the young man. This was the person he had rescued earlier. Justin straightened his blazer and held out his hand. "Yes, you did save me earlier, and I am thankful for that. But I would kindly request you to return my base reader as well as my Warframe.”
Vincent was just about to return the frame and reader to Justin when Maya walked in. "There you are. What in the world are you doing? The teacher was looking for you.” Maya ignored everyone else in the club room and tugged on Vincent’s ear and dragged him out of the club room. As he was being dragged away, Vincent’s expression stiffened, "Ahhh, I totally forgot about that.”

Path of Divinity
The world has been assimilated by the Celestial Archives, a vast system designed to fight the forces that seek to destroy the universe. For most, it's a holy cause that rewards victory with stats, levels, and skills. For Hunter Gold, it's the start of a nightmare. Even in a system dominated by paths, he finds himself taking the road less traveled. This is a work in progress. Major editing will be done after the book is complete, so there will be egregious typos and parts that make no sense whatsoever. Please feel free to point any and all of these things out. Chapters WILL get edited, and that editing might break earlier chapters. I will attempt to keep readers apprised of all changes. As always, feedback is welcome and appreciated. This is kind of something fun I wanted to write after reading stories like The New World, System Apocalypse, and the Legend of Randidly Ghosthound. I don't know how serious I will be about this story, but I just want to try it out. I imagine that it will become a love child between Fable, Diablo, and Devil May Cry. Enjoy!
