Adit woke up from a very comfortable sleep he had ever experienced. He felt so fresh, so... brand new. The mattress wrapped his body so gingerly and so softly, encompassing him in comfort and warmth akin to a motherly love.
As much as he wanted to lay in bed all day, he had one job to do and that was killing the Demon Lord. What a great goal for a supposedly normal senior high school boy! Except he was not normal, he was extraordinary!
He possessed the most understanding intelligence to this world. He had consumed the ancient knowledge of other similar settings. He saw many flags, many empire and kingdoms faltered, and heroic tales sung--all from mangas and animes.
In other words, he was the chosen one. He was different from those three normies who knew nothing about the other world. Bah! What do they knew, anyway, beside their comfort zones? He saw death, experienced grieves and joy almost every day!
He was different from those four!
Adit sported a sinister smile as he remembered something delightful to him.
He was ecstatic when that trash was disposed of. That annoying athletic boy, thinking high and mighty just because of his physique and look? He never forget the punch he received yesterday, but he didn't retaliate. No! His power was far too great to be used on the likes of him.
And what do that guy get?
Instant karma!
He ran a hand through his hair confidently, enjoying the crisp air and sunshine, "Yes, I can hear the angels' singing for me. I can feel it. This day is mine."
The servants behind him share a look at each other, realizing that they experienced the same emotional response. Of course as a mere maid, they wisely kept quiet and quickly prepared the summoned hero for the day.

"Good. Everyone's here," spoke a slender, fair-haired woman in a leather armor. Her long hair was tied in a neat bun. A scabbard on her left side clearly indicated who she was, as well as the calluses on her hands and scars on her body.
Beside her was a beautiful woman garbed in a simple, crimson robe, carrying a staff. She smiled sweetly as the heroes arrived in the training area.
"We are pressed for time, so I'm going to cut to the chase. You will receive training for four months and then fulfill your duty as the summoned heroes by executing His Majesty's order."
The swordsman paused for a while and continued, "I am Lilinara, the Knight Commander of the First Order, and the mage beside me is Eßvelt, a rank 7 magician in Leventia. Other than her and the court magician, you won't find a better person to ask about magic and spells. She will be teaching about magic and I close range combat. Since it's not limited to using a sword, hence the name."
Anya raised her hand, "Do we have to train in both areas, even though we have different jobs?"
"Obviously. There's nothing I hate more than a salted fish, or excess baggage, or something similar. We will drill you to death regardless of your jobs."
Seeing the devastating expression on their faces reminded Lilinara of her of her first day as a trainee. A small smile graced her lips before it disappeared under a stern look.
"You will train with me in the morning and with her in the afternoon. Any question?"
A hand was raised confidently. And of course it was Adit.
"Uh, Miss...?" Adit didn't know how to call her, but he continued after the person in question nodded in approval, "Miss Lilinara, I don't want to cause offence, but why do we have to train first? Isn't it better for us to jump straight to action, like clearing dungeons or exterminating monsters outside the town or something?"

Lilinara smiled, "I like that question. Catch."
She unbuckled the straps holding her scabbard and passed it on Adit in a carefree manner. "If any of you could properly wield it, then I'd gladly let you go."
Taken aback, Adit didn't manage to catch it properly and it hit the ground. Soon the otherworlders gathered around to try holding it one by one.
The first one was Adit. Clumsily he took it out of the sheath, barely managed to lift it to his waist level. Contrary to his expectation, the blade was quite heavy.
"I'd give you minus 3 if it weren't for you will," Lilinara chuckled. "Next."
Adit passed it to Anya. The girl took a deep breath and surprisingly was able to lift it to her chest-level.
"Bad posture, full of opening. Next"
With a defeated sigh Anya handed it gently to Mei. Due to Mei's inadequate STR, the blade fell to the ground in an instant.
Mei winced at the sound and cried out, "S-S-Sorry...! I didn't mean to drop it...."
Lilinara flashed her a small smile. "It's fine. It's just an inanimate object, incapable of feeling pain."
Mei's attitude lessened Lilinara's opinion of her. It wasn't unbecoming of a summoned hero to have such an over-apologetic persona. If she squeaked in fear at the mere act of dropping her sword by accident, what would she do if her enemies were hurt? Heal them? Apologize to them?
"Next."
Finally the last summoned hero, who happened to be her favorite. To be honest, she was ecstatic to have him around. She couldn't wait to train him, molding him into the role he was brought here for.
Her favorite hero, however, didn't manage to display the correct posture. A little disappointing, but she remembered that everything didn't always work out the way she wanted.
Fastening her sword back, she said, "No one passed, but that's what I hoped for. I can't just send you to fight monsters without any preparation. It's reckless. It's suicide."
"Based on your performance just now, you have zero understanding of what sword is--not literally. I mean, I know you all understand what a sword is, but not its application."
Anya interjected, "But this is what a fighter use! Some of us aren't even close ranged fighters! This sword training doesn't apply to some of us!"
"Then, think of this simple analogy. If you don't even know how to use a sword, then how are you going to use magic?"
Anya stuttered, "T-That..."
"I know that analogy is too crude, but I believe you all understand what I'm trying to say. Believe me, even mages and archers use melee weapons to defend themselves when dire situations call for them."
Then she directed their attention to the staff Eßvelt's carrying. "See this staff? Depending on how you use it, this could even save your life, or even your team member. You cannot expect to be protected at all times!"
"Right. So that's that for the introduction. And now time to train!!" Lilinara yelled, signaling the start of their hellish days in another world.

Sara's (not really) Fabulous System Armageddon, Book I: The World Ended at Rush Hour
Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark. It was anything but fabulous. * * Updates every Wednesday and Sunday.
