Back in the summoning chamber, Lemerista smiled as if something never happened, as if she had no remorse of having exiled an innocent.

Ah, it truly feels great to breathe in a roaches-free room.

"Where did you take him?" Anya asked.

The High Priestess smiled at the question and answered softly, "Ah, we simply deposited him in a nearby town, but no need to worry. That town is safe and prosperous. I'm sure he will quickly find a way to live peacefully in this world."

"Well, that's a relief, then."

The High Priestess glanced towards the >, who was blatantly sighing in relief.

What a naive boy, she thought. No, they are all naive. They didn't even ask which town. How cute.

Unlike his friend, he had no idea what actually was going on. Hell, he didn't even know his friend had already dead by the time he stepped into that portal. Without his friend, let alone rebellion, he wouldn't be able to plan anything.

Oh, she loved this kind of plaything. Naive and easy to control and mold.

Guilt trip and other psychological manipulation exist for such thing...

The High Priestess stretched her arms and beckoned, "We are getting sidetracked. Let us continue with the appraisal..."

Anya and Mei shared a nervous look before they approached the High Priestess to be appraised.

Ivan woke up feeling dizzy, but then realization kicked in. Yeah, he had been crying to sleep and miraculously woke up unscathed. He looked around and felt like it was morning since the reddish fog wasn't as dense as before.

The day version of this forest felt less creepy than the night counterpart and he was grateful for that. Feeling on edge all day would take toll on his mind and physique.

He opened the burlap sack and took out one of ten packed foods there. It was wrapped in... leaves? Well, it didn't surprise him anymore. Plastic and paper bags, or even the almighty Butterware weren't invented yet. Slicing the knots tying it tightly, he found some smoked meat and fish, dried fruits, and some square-shaped biscuits (if he knew what they were, he would've called them hardtacks).

Everything was dry--perfect food for traveling, but not for palate.

He took a hardtack in his palm and inspected it for a while. It was his first time seeing this food--this dried biscuit thing. The first impression that crossed his mind was... hard.

So how to eat this? It felt like he was holding a thinly sliced brick. Maybe he should dip it in a soup or something?

He set it aside.

Beside his smartphone, what else did he bring into this world? Ivan groped one of the bag's small pockets and found three lighters. First lighter had strawberry patterns, the second one had cute bear face patterns, and the last one had orange patterns. Ivan was rather embarrassed to buy these, but he was such a sucker for cute trinkets.

But, he couldn't believe that these little things would someday went beyond as mere accessories.

Life was just full of surprise.

Ivan continue rummaging his bag. He had one bottle of Pocira he just bought before he went home, still sealed, then books, and writing implements. Damn, he couldn't throw away the books. These were his life and blood as a student! Plus, he still had unfinished homework!

As he laid his eyes on the items scattered before him, he let out a long sigh. He couldn't possibly stored all these in his school bag...

"Such a hassle carrying these around. If only I had something to store these... some kind of unlimited inventory or something would be nice... If it's impossible, at least I'd like to walk without carrying anything in my hands..."

Ding!

A window suddenly popped out in front of him. Noticing the sound, Ivan looked up, rubbed his eyes, and squinted at the window.

"Are you for real..."

Intrigued, Ivan tried to touch it, but his hand disappeared into the window instead.

"Weird..." he arched his eyebrow and tried to look at the window from a different angle. The window was clearly two dimensional, so where did his hand go?

Being kidnapped into another world infuriated him, but for once he felt truly grateful for the easy way to carry his load, even though he didn't fully know why it appeared out of nowhere. Was it some kind of magic? No, he didn't even casted a spell. He just... voiced his wish out loud and then voila.

Suspicious as heck!

Yeah, he did say the item window was suspicious, but to be honest it truly piqued his curiosity.

Did this thing truly had infinite space? How much could it carry? How did it work? Did it store his items in some kind pocket dimension? Was this secure?

Ivan picked a maths book and placed it in his inventory. The book disappeared in an instant and reappeared inside a square-shaped space in the inventory.

It read mathematics book x1

Oh, nice! His smile grew wider.

Ivan picked another item and begun experimenting, forgetting his grudge for a moment as he immersed himself in a short-term happiness...
