《New World - New Beginning》Chapter 30: The Effects of Death

I return the monster books to section 3C and start collecting all the books concerning geography, races, and history to start reading.
...
One hour passed, and I finished reading the books. Although I got quite a lot of information about this world, there are still some gaps that I can't fill in.
First of all, the geography book in this library only contains the cartography of Planet Unity, which is divided into three continents which are:
Lerit: The continent was inhabited by both Humans and Fereos. It is also where the capital of the planet Unity - Equatorial is located and where I am currently located. Ampos: Continent where the four seasons (spring, summer, autumn, and winter) coexist throughout the year. It is also the center of extraction and recharge of energy stones of the planet Unity. Fana: The continent where the Fereos mostly inhabit, there are many tribes living here which coexist with each other.
Secondly, there are the intelligent races. Several minor races inhabit both outsides and inside our planet. Still, the main ones are Human, Fereo, Elven, Fairy, Dwarf, Gnome, and Monster.
And thirdly and most importantly, the history books only contain information about the most important past events of 1000 years ago, which is illogical because only the history of humanity on earth is several thousand years old.
Now you tell me that this world has only existed for 1000 years. Is this a joke? If you look at the calendar stuck on the library wall, it tells you that today is the year 2132 T.R... Besides, what does T.R. mean? I asked the librarian about that, and he didn't know the answer. It's not even written in this history book, and people don't care.
Ok, I can understand that people don't question this. But what about only 1000 years of history being recorded? What about the other 1132 years? Did something happen that they don't want to remember or what?
Not knowing this bothers me a lot. It's like "the lost century," in which, in the year 1450 - 1540, there was little or no evidence of continuity of human occupations on earth.
*Sigh* I'd better stop thinking about it. I don't want to touch on a subject that may be considered taboo. In any case, I must take these books to their respective places.
I load the books and start to place them in section 3C, but just as I place the last one, it drops a book titled "The Effects of Death."
This caught my attention, so I started to check it carefully, causing me to be surprised because it is something that should write in the "TUTORIAL" book, which says the following:
This book was written by Doctor Samet Von Richter, which compiled several reports about adventurers who have died several times in the world of AETHER and the effects it has had on their lives.
It is vitally important that this is made known to everyone, starting from the students who are in the academies and have aspirations to be adventurers.
It is known to everyone that once you die, you are reborn in the shrines of the town or city closest to your death, you are penalized with a 25% reduction of your money, a part of your equipment and a debuff which is "Fear of Death" which reduces your movement and reaction speed by 25% for X? time depending on your willpower.
What they don't know is that on top of that you also lose part of your memories, the memory you lose is random as it can be something unimportant or it can be something valuable like the memory of a loved one.
At first this doesn't seem important as they can be recovered with the help of your friends or family, but as you die the memories become increasingly difficult to recover.
An extreme case is that, if the person cannot recover their memories, they will start to become corrupted and begin to behave like a psychopath who only wants to cause chaos and anarchy.
Once this point is reached, the person cannot be saved in any way so there are only two options left: keep him locked up and contained in a cell or death.
The problem with the latter is that once he dies again he no longer revives in the world of AETHER but disappears, some scientists believe that they are eliminated forever while they speculate that they are sent to another world.
...
The rest of the book is reports, studies, and interviews with adventurers. They detail all the experiences they went through. They even interviewed one of these psychopaths they arrested, which made my blood run cold.
After reading this, I still can't calm down, not because this is not written in the "TUTORIAL" book but because if I die, I won't have anyone to help me recover my memories because there is no one who knows me well enough to help me remember.
This is more serious than it seems because if I didn't know about this, it is very likely that I would have died without giving it any importance, which would cause me to become a psychopath slowly.
Now I have to be stronger, but I also have to get items that will automatically revive me as a contingency plan.
Since the book says that the effects appear the moment you revive in the sanctuary. Still, if you revive using special items such as the phoenix feather and the spiritual totem, you can avoid that situation.
But a problem arises: these objects are not easy to get since when I started looking for them using the "αβΩ SYSTEM," it did not yield any results.
No one is willing to sell it, and it is understandable. If I were in their place, I would not do it either. After all, no one knows what can happen.

...
I leave the book in its place and leave the library as I am not in the mood to continue reading, so I head to the central square to think calmly as my mind is now in chaos.
I didn't even realize I went through the main gate and re-activated the security system, which released six Ents from the forest. Still, they didn't attack me but only growled at me in the distance.
This surprised the nearby students, but I paid no attention to them and continued walking.
...
When I finally reach the central square, I sit down near the fountain and begin to reflect deeply.
I have to think carefully about what I will do; next, I can't buy this kind of item because I doubt that someone is willing to sell it, and in case they do, the price will be astronomical, so I have no choice but to get equipment that is enchanted with healing or constant recovery spells, I must also increase my HP/MP/Stamina stats to increase my chances of survival.
I also have to make sure Kawaii evolves, so he can learn the "Healing Touch" skill and heal me in life and death situations. Another thing is that he could learn some active healing skills, but I don't see it as convenient considering my fighting style.
For now, let's eat. Once I get back to my apartment, I'll go over all the skills I've read about. Maybe I can create an interesting synergy.
I get up from my seat to head to a random restaurant and order the daily special for me and a fruit plate for Kawaii.
...
Once we finish eating, we leave the restaurant and head back to our apartment. I take Kawaii out of my bag and take a long shower to cool my head.
After a long time, I get out of the bathroom. That shower allowed me to calm down my emotions. Hence, I put on a change of clothes, took out my notebook, and started writing down all the skills I read in the library that left a deep impression on me.
After 5 minutes, I stopped writing and reviewed the skills I could use:
[Aegis: Defensive type skill which blocks all attacks for 1 second (requires a shield)] [Fusion: Special type ability which allows you to fuse with your pet] [Limit Break: Buff-type ability, which doubles all your stats for a period of time-based on your Stamina.] [Stele: Debuff type ability releases an undetectable mana trail. If an enemy touches it, he will receive the Debuff (Low Guard). If an enemy passes over or under the stele, it will reveal his position]. [Seal Monster: Special ability that allows for sealing monsters in objects] [Mana Shield: Defensive type ability that generates a protective layer of mana that mitigates damage by 30% while active, requires constant use of mana] [Weapon Union: Buff-type ability that brings out the hidden potential of your weapon of choice] [Anti-Buff: Special type ability which enchants your weapon with the power capable of ignoring your opponent's Buffs. Your Stamina and the durability of your weapon of choice will drop to critical levels]. [Possession: Special type ability which allows you to be possessed by weapons, either blessed or cursed, and use their power, but you can end up under their mental control] [Bloody Weapon: Debuff type ability that uses 20% of your HP to curse your weapon of choice, if your weapon wounds an opponent, he will receive the Debuff (Corrupted Blood)]
While I didn't read the attack-type skills in the library, I don't think I need them as I already have one that I can very well, with the bonus that it can evolve.
Now I have to choose which skill I should learn, which is a bit complicated since there are some very good skill combinations, for example:
Aegis + Limit Break + Stela; It would result in a medieval knight as he could carry a shield and use Aegis to defend in crucial moments, use Stela to detect enemies, and Limit Break to get a quick power boost.
Stela + Limit Break + Bloody Weapon; Results in a berserker swordsman as I can detect my enemies and attack them with my full strength.
Fusion + Mana Shield + Weapon Union; It would be a peculiar option because I could fuse with Kawaii or with my future dinosaur. At the same time, I could protect myself with the mana shield, as for weapon union could serve to increase the power of my sword.
All of them are good options, but the one that catches my attention the most is the Seal Monster + Possession combination. The former allows me to seal monsters into items. In contrast, possession allows me to be possessed by weapons, whether they are blessed or cursed.
But if you look closely, the "Seal Monster" skill says that you can seal monsters on objects. Still, it doesn't specify what kind of objects, so I could try to seal monsters on a sword since they are considered objects. In contrast, the "Possession" skill allows me to be possessed by weapons.
In theory, I could use "Seal Monster" to seal a monster on a sword and use "Possession" to possess a said sword. Plus, with my passive ability, "Cold Mind," I can avoid the mental control of the sword.
It's a bit of a crazy idea. Still, if this works out as I envision it, I'll be one step closer to being the most powerful adventurer in AETHER.
Tomorrow I'll go back to the library to write down everything related to these skills so I can learn them. With that said, it's time to sleep.
