《New World - New Beginning》Chapter 21: Too Many Rewards

After defeating King Goblin, I returned to the connection room where I was before.
I sat back down in front of the computer, and again the notification popped up.
[Do you want to open the R site for detailed analysis?]
Yes.
[Valid operation]
[Attention, currently, no vital signs are detected from subject R, please check that everything is OK].
Sorry Mr. Computer, but subject R is dead. Without a resurrection ability for monsters, that guy will continue to sleep for eternity.
When I leave the connection room, I hear some gears coming from subject "R"'s room, so I go inside to see what has changed.
As I enter, I see that a trap door has appeared, right at the edge of the circle where I was fighting the goblin king, which explains why it wouldn't open.
Anyone can try to open the trap door from the computer, but the computer won't do it because the goblin king is there. That's why he needs to be put to sleep or cryogenic, and that's only possible with the chip and the master code.
I walk towards the trap door and see a long flight of stairs, so I start going down the stairs without overthinking.
After about three minutes down the stairs, I finally reach the end. Luckily the place is illuminated. Otherwise, I would have thought I was going down to hell.
Before me is a hermetically sealed door with a sign that says "Authorized personnel, and a notification appears.
[Do you wish to enter Area R?]
Yes.
[Please insert the master chip]
Next to the door, a slight indentation emerges to insert the master chip, so I insert it, and other notifications appear again.
[The door to Area R has been opened.]
[The Master Chip object has been removed].
The door opens, and before my eyes appears a high-end laboratory, there are two computers, a kind of incubator of 30 cubic centimeters with something dark inside, and a table with a notebook on its surface.
First, I grab the notebook from the table and start reading it.
[You have obtained Notes from the experiment]
[Experiment notes]
[Day X - Month X - Year X: They just built this lab right underneath subject "R". According to them, it's for extra security, but I still feel uncomfortable knowing that I'm under that monster]
[Day X - Month X - Year X: Today, an incubator arrived with what seemed to be a bear inside. It was black and looked so hurt that it didn't look like it would survive. I asked them what was going on and they told me that from now on not only did we have to find a way to exterminate the goblins, but we also had to find a way for this bear to eat live monsters. What the hell?]
[Day X - Month X - Year X: We were given some test tubes with a golden colored liquid and another one with a dark red liquid. We were told that they were so precious that we could only use them on the bear and that we will face the most severe punishment in case one is missing.]

[Day X - Month X - Year X: We tried to make the bear eat a live sonar rat, but it killed it first and then ate it. After that we observed how it started to recover some strength and tried to attack us, so we followed the protocol we were given and threw the test tube filled with dark red liquid at it, causing it to enter a state of false death, then we put it back in the incubator]]
[Day X - Month X - Year X: A fellow from Area R found out that this bear is a Boss Raid and that to catch it, they had to use some Attack and Spell type ARTEFACTS. On top of that, both the incubator and the test tubes are extremely expensive to manufacture]
[Day X - Month X - Year X: We were informed that, from now on, we will do the experiments at this site once a week and that no documents of any kind should leave here]
[Day X - Month X - Year X: Today, we tried to make the bear eat a goblin. We stopped feeding it for a few days, hoping it would just eat it, but even in those situations, it killed the goblin and then ate it. We are still looking for ways to change its nature.]
[You just read Notes from the experiment]
[The object Experiment notes have been deleted]
When I finished reading that, and the notebook disappeared, I turned my head toward the incubator with an expression of disbelief.
That little dark thing in the incubator the same size as Kawaii is a Raid Boss?
From my experience in MMORPG games, Raid Bosses are world bosses that take many people to defeat, I've seen videos of people who can kill a Raid Boss alone, and I've even seen people who lure a Raid Boss and release it in the cities just for fun. Still, now you tell me that you guys not only hunted one, but you caught it and brought it to this place? What kind of crazy people are you?
Why do all this? What's so special about this Raid Boss that you would spend ARTEFACTS to catch him?
I shake my head and start to search the metal shelves upstairs, but a notification jumps out at me.
[Blocked]
I guess I have to unlock it using the computer.
I sit down in front of the computer, and a notification pops up.
[Please enter Password]
A password? You're not asking me to enter the master code, are you? I hope not. Without much hope, I place the cursor on the question mark to see the hint, and on it comes the word "NAME."
Name? what name? The name of the subject "R"?
I start typing "Goblin King," and a notification pops up.
[Incorrect password 1/3]
Crap, so I have a limited window of opportunity. Now I type in Rare Goblin into the computer, and another notification pops up again.

[Incorrect password 2/3]
That's not it either, so what is it? What am I forgetting?
While I think something comes to my mind, I check my inventory, and I see that I still have the personal note I got from the third floor. So far, all the documents disappear once their function is finished, except for this paper I found on the third floor.
[Personal note]
[Area R - Ysiti].
I type the name on the computer, and then the notifications pop up.
[Password correct]
[The Personal object note has been deleted]
[Unlock the right shelf?]
[Unlock the left shelf?]
[Ysiti file]
Now that the computer is unlocked, the unlock options appear, but an option called "Ysiti File" also appears.
Curious, I start reading the Ysiti file.
[Ysiti File]
[Real Name: Devourer of life]
[Nickname: Ysiti]
[Rank: Unknown]
[Description: The Devourer of Life is a Raid Boss in the form of a black bear with strange symbols on his body and demonic-looking horns, his height is 10 meters tall when on four legs and 20 meters when on two]
Active Abilities:
Attack: Devouring (By devouring his enemies, he restores his HP, but he can only do it on dead targets).
Defense: Indomitable (Becomes invulnerable for 10 seconds, in this state, it can only launch basic attacks)
BUFF: Symbol Change (When the symbols on his body glow red, his attack increases, and when they shine blue, his movement and attack speed increase, both increases are 25%)
DEBUFF: Alpha Roar (His roar causes anyone who hears it to lower their defense by 25%).
Passive Abilities:
Bearskin: Physical attacks are 30% less effective and magical attacks 10%.
Blessed Ignorance: Ignores the effects of loss of movement or agility.
Primordial Creature: When its HP drops to 0, it will enter immortality mode for 10 seconds (This effect only activates once per week).
Control Ability:
Dominion: As long as you range around 5 meters from him, your attack power will decrease by 10%.
...
I thought Ysiti was the name of some hidden secret weapon, but it's a file with the data of this Raid Boss. If what this file says is true, then this is a damn walking tank.
All passive and active abilities are focused on holding, restoring, and counterattacking. If you wanted to kill him, you would need many long-distance attacking mages and cause DEBUFF of constant damage like poisoning or bleeding.
But even with that strategy, you would probably take too long as his devour ability would restore his life.
And yet they still managed to catch him and bring him in. How crazy, if I could, I'd like to have him as a pet, but I already have Kawaii, and I'm not one to abandon others for convenience.
Let's put this matter aside. It's time to unlock the shelves.
[Unlock the right shelf?]
Yes.
[Unlock the left shelf?]
Yes.
Once unlocked, I step away from the computer and open the shelves. There are ten dark red colored test tubes on the left shelf, and on the right shelf, there are ten gold-colored test tubes.
These are the liquids mentioned in those notes. Let's see what function they have.
[You have obtained Elixir of Samsara (Life) x 10]
[Description: A vial containing a golden-colored liquid capable of bringing any monster back to life, the revived monster will retain its memories, so I hope you were good with it].
[You have obtained Elixir of Samsara (Death) x 10]
[Description: A vial containing a dark red liquid capable of placing a monster in a state of false death can reverse this state at any time, this is called mocking death].
An elixir capable of reviving a monster and another that places it in a false death state. I guess they used the samsara (death) elixir to place that raid boss in a state where they could control it, and in case something happened, they used the samsara (life) elixir and kept experimenting.
But the price of these elixirs is worth it because it would be too much to hunt another raid boss and bring it here. Now let's see the incubator.
[Max Monster Incubator]
[Description: A state-of-the-art monster incubator that allows the monster inside to be kept in a healthy state at all times, like a mother hen taking care of her chick.]
[Devourer of Life - Ysiti]
[Description: The devourer of life's body, currently in a state of "False Death" to reverse it requires 150 MP]
So I can revive a raid boss with 150 MP, I get the impression that causing mayhem and destruction is very cheap, and there's no excuse not to do it.
I imagine myself reviving this monster in the forest and watching it destroy in its wake while I watch it in the distance while eating popcorn.
Stop-frame, get that desire out of your mind. The world hasn't done anything terrible to you to make you regret it... Even...
OK, jokes aside, first, let's place Ysiti's body in the bag. All that said, I open the incubator door and place Ysiti's body in the bag and then place the incubator in my storage.
I double-check the site to make sure I didn't leave anything behind and get out of here.
Once back on the surface, I head for the exit door. Once at the door, I get a lot of notifications.
[Congratulations on completing the special dungeon: abandoned laboratory G-1]
[Progress level 100%]
[Reward: WEAPON TYPE ARTEFACT]
What the hell?
Before I can figure out what's going on, the door pulls me out of the dungeon without warning.

Universe 2.0
An earthman boy, William, was extremely interested in space travels. He got two techniques from his father, Mighty, who was a world-famous physicist studying faster-than-light space travels and his mother, Sally, who was a biology professor at Columbia University. However, he was sometimes not so confident. This meant that he would rather not believe that he was actually very powerful. Due to this, Mighty and Sally decided to boost his confidence. He set out and began his space travel, yet he came to another universe, which was surely unexpected! He had partners, including a female clone man, Ranran, whose prototype was William's physics teacher and head teacher; a fighter plane, Photon, who looked like a fighter plane in WWII; a racing car, Natalie Hurricane, who had crazy performances. The party used an energy core to travel through a black hole and a five-dimensional space when they reached that universe, but unfortunately the energy core lost all the energy. So they had to go to all checkpoints on three planets to collect all energy, because only in this way could they go back to their universe. Yet what would they encounter while they travel in this universe? Would they be able to go home?

But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves.
