《New World - New Beginning》Chapter 19: The first dungeon 4

[The goblin siege is over]
[Congratulations, you have completed the Achievement - To the end].
[You get an increase of your stats: HP / MP / Stamina +100 - Strength / Dexterity / Agility / Intelligence +10].
[Your Slash skill has evolved into Focused Slash].
Then I faced an actual siege. Fortunately, it was goblins. If it were other stronger monsters, I would lose for sure.
At least this part is over. First, let's rest and check my status window. Then I'll go to the second floor of the basement to face the sub-bosses and then the final boss.
[Name: Marco Diaz - Adventurer]
[HP: 200/490]
[MP:100/230]
[Stamina: 120/290]
[Strength: 23]
[Dexterity: 22]
[Agility: 22]
[Intelligence: 20]
[Profession: None]
[Active Abilities: Focused Slash]
[Passive Skills: Cold Mind]
[Pet: Floral Hedgehog]
[Titles: Novice Herb Seeker - Merciless]
My stats have gone up quite a bit; my HP - MP - Stamina - Strength - Dexterity, and Agility went up a few extra points during the battle. Now with the achievement I got, they went up even more.
Intelligence went up by +10, which means I need an external method to increase it. I thought growing intelligence would also increase MP, but if I want to improve it, I have to do the same as Stamina.
Now let's see the changes to my skill.
[Focused Slash]
[Medium attack range vertical/horizontal slashing technique]
[Wind and beam of light combine to unleash a laido capable of cutting everything in front of it]
[Depending on how much MP you use, your laido will have more range and more power]
[Can Evolve]
[Cost: 10 - 100 MP]
[Cooldown: 10 Seconds]
The Description has changed a bit. Now, depending on how much MP you use, it will make the laido have more or less strength.
I can now attack from a distance, but this skill can still evolve more importantly.
I thought that to evolve slash. I was required to find an instructor or read some book; instead, I needed to understand the skill by myself.
In any case, I need to rest and recover first.
I take out a packet of food and check my remaining items.
In the siege, I used 13 HP potions, one adrenaline shot, and ten bottles of alcohol and anesthetics.
Luckily I have 17 HP potions left; if I hadn't released managed to evolve my Slash into Focused Slash, I would have spent a minimum of 20 potions.
After 10 minutes, my HP/MP/Stamina fully recovered, so I quickly went to the second floor.
I've been here for 2 hours, so I only have 4 hours left to finish this. I could have taken it easy if it wasn't for the goblin siege.

Ok, no use crying over spilled milk. I better hurry up and defeat the 13 hobgoblins that are locked up.
I go down the "HG" staircase and reach the second basement. A long-lighted hallway greets me. There are seven doors on each side, one at the back, the one at the back is subject to "R"'s room, the ones on the sides are for the hobgoblins, and the one leftover must be a data room.
I approach the room to my right and see a sign with HG -002. I look through the grid and observe a figure of 2 meters tall green skin chained, he is malnourished, and his skin is dry due to the homogenization in which he was.
This time I plan to use the slingshot. I plan to throw the bottle of hydrochloric acid in his face; although it is used to clean the oxidation of the weapons, it also says that it can erode the skin, so I hope to remove his vision and be able to finish the fight quickly.
If the bottle breaks from the impact, it will shorten the battle. If not, I will have to look to defeat them using a Focused Slash from a distance.
I prepare the slingshot with the bottle, take the master chip and enter the room.
As soon as I enter the room, I shoot the bottle in the hobgoblin's face and run towards him. As soon as the bottle hits his face, it shatters into a thousand pieces.
GYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHHHHHH!!!!!
The hobgoblin stands up and covers his face. When he stood up, his height increased about 50 centimeters, now, he was too tall to jump and cut his head off, so I quickly changed strategy and placed myself behind him and released a Focused Slash in the popliteal fossa, which cuts the hobgoblin's legs in half.
GYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHHHHHH!!!!!
The hobgoblin screams in pain again, which causes it to start flailing its arms and chains in all directions.
I quickly back away from it until it finishes flailing its arms uncontrollably.
After four minutes, the hobgoblin calms down but is now alert to any sound, so I pull out the slingshot again and throw another bottle in his face.
GYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHHHHHH!!!!!
As soon as he starts screaming, I run towards him to get under his head. Once I'm in my position, I wait for the right moment.
As the hobgoblin raises his arms, intending to strike in all directions, I release Focused Slash at his neck.
The slash hits its neck, and its head falls.
[You have defeated the hobgoblin.]

This fight was faster than I thought it would be. It only lasted 6 minutes. I had to think about what had happened.
After thinking about it for 30 seconds, I concluded.
It's not that the fight was easy. It's just that I altered its natural order. The dungeon must have thought I would memorize the master code and deactivate the goblin capsules in the basement.
By doing so, I would have an extra 1 or 2 hours to face the hobgoblins, which from the movements I saw during the fight, I can say would take about 20 minutes to defeat each one.
That would result in about 4 hours and 20 minutes just fighting the thirteen hobgoblins, plus the 30 or 40 minutes exploring the first floor and the five upper floors, which results in 5 hours of the 6-hour time limit that the dungeon gives you.
Then you would have 1 hour to defeat subject "R" and finish the dungeon.
In my case, I spent 40 minutes on the first floor and the five upper floors, but I faced the goblin siege and spent 1 hour and 20 minutes fighting them.
That results in 2 hours. If I add the 6 minutes it took to defeat each hobgoblin; it would be 1 hour and 18 minutes, which gives 3 hours and 18 minutes of the 6 hours limit.
If it is as I thought, I have 2 hours and 42 minutes to defeat the boss.
Now that I confirm what happens, I start to face the hobgoblins one by one. After 1 hour and 18 minutes, I finished all of them using the same strategy. The only one missing is the "R" guy.
But before facing him, I open the other remaining room to avoid leaving any object.
The sign outside the room said connecting room, but the only thing I see is a computer.
I checked the desk, but there was nothing, so the only thing left to check was the computer itself.
As soon as I sat down in the chair, a strange notification popped up.
[No data to be recorded]
What? I don't understand. What does it mean? This room is very strange, almost as odd as when I went up to the fifth floor for the first time and found nothing.
Wait a minute.
Maybe I have to go back somewhere else to activate this place?
When that fleeting thought crosses my mind, I quickly go back to the second floor of the basement and enter the room where I found the master chip.
I sit down in the chair and see a new notification pop up.
[Would you like to register a new file?]
As I have no idea, I press to confirm. Then some parameters come up to be filled in the computer.
[Name of test subject:]
[Description :]
Are you telling me that I have to write all the data in the 30 clinical sheets I have in the inventory? Damn it.
Even though I don't want to, I decide to do it. Besides, I still have time before facing the subject "R."
After 20 minutes, I finish filling out the last record, and another notification appears as soon as I finish it.
[Do you want to send the records?]
Yes.
[The records have been sent to the connection room].
[The object Sheet x 30 has been deleted].
After that, there is nothing else, so I go back to the second basement, bound for the connecting room.
A new notification appears once I get to the connecting room and sit in the desk chair.
[There is new data to be recorded]
[Data sent exceeds the normal range. Do you want to send it to computer R?]
Computer R? Is there a computer where the subject "R" is?
Yes.
[Data sent successfully]
[Do you wish to open site R for detailed analysis]?
Yes
[Invalid operation, currently subject R is active].
Then I had to defeat the boss for a new area opened. In that case, let's not drag this out any longer.
I leave the room and stand in front of the door of the final boss.
Subject "R," the hobgoblin evolution, a goblin capable of talking and thinking.
I check my bags before facing this boss. I still have the 17 HP potions and the two adrenaline shots, which is good. I also put back ten bottles of antiseptic alcohol, hydrochloric acid, and anesthetics in my bag.
Since I am not missing anything and there is no slit to see on the other side of the door, I have no idea what awaits me, so I have to fight with everything.
I use the master chip on the door, and when it opens, a voice greets me on the other side.
Finally, why did they visit the 13 idiots first and not me? Can't they stand to have their truths told to their faces?

Essentia Animus
Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
