As Jack and Rob both exited the taxi Rob looked up in amazement. "Jack, I thought you said we were going to a club, not a skyscraper." Rob said as they both climbed out of the taxi. "Huh, the place must've gotten a face lift." Jack said as he scratched the back of his head before stepping onto the curb with Rob. "So who exactly are we looking for?" Rob asked as the duo started making their way to the front door. "We're looking for a chick named Bailey, she'll probably be on the top floor partying her ass off." Jack said as they approached the front door and were stopped by a bouncer. Rob held out a bill and slipped it into the bouncer's jacket pocket, then they were allowed inside the building.
"Is it just me or was that too easy?" Rob asked quietly as the both walked into an elevator. "It's a setup, they're expecting us." Jack said as he pressed a button that led to the top floor. As they rode the elevator to the top, Rob decided to break the silence. "So you and Sarah used to date, when did that happen?" Rob asked as he looked up at the digital floor counter. Jack allowed his eyes to roll into the back of his head before responding.
"You're not funny." Jack said as he pulled out his phone to look at the clock. "And you're not a fighter." Rob responded quickly before looking down and pulling out one of his pistols to chamber a round. Jack closed his eyes and bit his lip before putting his phone away. As the elevator kept moving up, they could hear music becoming louder. Then the elevator stopped. Jack and Rob both gave each other a glance, knowing this was their floor. Rob holstered his pistol before the doors opened and the music made its way to their ears. Jack turned to say something to Rob but wasn't able to because of the music and decided to motion for Rob to move to the left side of the club.
Rob nodded in acknowledgement and moved into the club. Jack quickly moved to the right, avoiding the dance floor entirely. After pushing his way through groups of people, Jack started looking for Bailey. After a couple of minutes he couldn't find her on his side and started looking on the dance floor. Nothing. Jack then looked to see Rob staring at him from across the room with a hand behind his neck. Understanding what the signal meant, he remained calm. There was heat right behind him, someone's watching him. Jack kept looking around to avoid putting any unwanted attention onto Rob. After a short moment he closed his eyes, trying to think how a marksman would think.
A sniper relies on their range for safety, a gunslinger relies on their reactions. But a marksman relies on seeing the fight itself. Jack opened his eyes and looked up to see a balcony protruding over the dance floor and there she was, watching. Jack was more confused on how he missed the balcony when he entered the room than seeing Bailey. As Jack watched Bailey, she gave a signal to someone behind him and a bag was placed over his head.

"What the-" Jack thought before a bag was placed over his head and being lifted into the air. Jack simply went limp, not bothering to fight a fruitless battle. Within a moment his feet were back on the ground and hands were moving up and down his body. Rob saw the commotion and followed until he saw Jack was dragged into a room with the door slamming shut right after. Rob then placed his ear on the door to listen to what was about to happen.
"Clear." A man's voice spoke before Jack was pushed onto a couch and had the bag ripped off his head. As Jack's eyes readjusted to the bright light, he could see a slim figure sitting in front of him. It was Bailey.
"Seriously, no weapons?" Bailey asked as she looked disappointed. The mood between them became more awkward than Jack would've liked. "Words can be weapons too." Jack said as he looked to his side to see a pistol right next to his head. Jack gave the thug a dirty look before slowly returning his attention back to Bailey. "What do you want?" Bailey said as she picked up a drink. Jack quickly looked to the side to see a carbine hanging on the wall. "Since when did you start using carbines?" Jack asked before the pistol was pushed into the side of his head. "Alright, I've got a job that could use a marksman." Jack said as he turned back to see Bailey staring at him.
"Who's the contractor?" Bailey asked before taking a sip from her drink. "I'm the contractor, I'm only getting people I can trust." Jack said with no emotion. "You're kidding right? You're number one on the most wanted list and you want to pull a job?” Bailey said in disbelief. "Did you come here alone?" Bailey asked.
"No." Jack said truthfully. "I know what people are saying but I didn't do it." Jack said right before he leaned back into the couch. "We both know that if I get charged with a crime, I'm sure as shit going to do it then." Jack said with a blank face. Bailey waved the thug that had a gun trained on Jack away.
"There’s a lot of evidence pointing towards you." Bailey said before putting her drink down and standing up. Jack looked at Bailey's thugs and had an itching feeling that something wasn't right. "So, how's my sister doing?" Bailey asked as she started making her way to one of the gun racks. The question made Jack uncomfortable. Jack held out his hand flat and twisted it up and down. "Can't believe she dated you, a Sinner man of all people." Bailey said before she picked up a carbine. Jack decided to bite his tongue at the comment, knowing he’s outnumbered.
“I’m not the only Sinner man in this building you know.” Jack said as he stood up from the couch. All the thugs in the room took aim at Jack again. Rob heard this and decided to prepare himself for what was going to happen knowing that a shootout was inevitable. Bailey loaded her carbine and aimed it dead center on Jack’s chest.

“You may have me outnumbered and outgunned, but I’m a bigger caliber than you.” Jack said as he bent over to pick up a bottle and held it by the neck. Rob, not knowing how to help, decided to do something unorthodox and knocked on the door. Bailey gave Jack a confused look as all the thugs in the room turned their guns to the door.
“Like I said, I’m not the only Sinner man in this building.” Jack said right before Rob opened the door and tossed an empty magazine into the room. All the thugs fired their guns thinking there was going to be a person instead. Jack took this opportunity to throw the bottle at Bailey and jumped behind the couch knowing she was going to shoot back. After a moment Rob pulled out two of his pistols and rushed into the room, aiming his guns at some of the thugs and decided to shoot them in the limbs instead of going for kill shots.
The bottle hit Bailey in the head and caused her to become frustrated. She quickly started shooting where Jack jumped behind the couch. Bullets ripping through the couch as Jack crawled away until it stopped. Looking around the corner of the couch, Jack saw Bailey and Rob aiming their weapons at one of the thugs. To Jack’s surprise he saw a badge, a police officer's badge on the man’s waist. Jack got up quickly and grabbed a pistol off of Rob they both spined around. Rob facing the thugs with pistols in both hands; Jack aiming his pistol at the cop with Bailey aiming her carbine at the cops chest and the cop had his own pistols pointed at Bailey and Jack.
“Now we’re cooking with gas.” Jack said with a smirk as he took in the situation. “Get me out of this and I’ll help you with your job.” Bailey said as she looked at Jack from the side of her vision. All the thugs looked at each other knowing that she would be helping somebody that is wanted by governments and criminals. They changed their aim to anyone they thought was a threat.
“Deal!” Jack said before spinning around to shoot at the thugs. Bailey shot the cop in the chest causing him to fall just to the side of the couch. Jack and Rob made quick work of the thugs and made sure they were down. Jack looked back around to see Bailey executing the cop. Jack shook his head as Rob holstered his pistols. Bailey gave Jack a shrug before holstering her carbine behind her shoulder. Jack handed the pistol back to Rob before making his way to the door. Rob and Bailey gave each other a look.
“He used to date your sister?” Rob said as he started making his way out of the room. “You’re a Sinner man?” Bailey asked as she followed Rob. He shrugged as they both walked out the room.

“So does anyone know where Jack and Rob went? I wanted to ask them a question about the plan.” Tyson said as he leaned on the table to look over the plan. “No, they went outside to talk but they’re not there.” Sarah said as she walked up to the table. Tyson frowned as he looked at the plan.
“What’s your question?” Sarah asked as she started looking at the plan with Tyson. “I can understand the thermite and the plasma torches but do we need a bomb?” Tyson said as Kaz and John soon joined around the table. “Insurance?” Kaz said with confusion in his voice. Sarah shook head in response. “Deterrent?” John followed up. “I don’t know and I don’t want to know.” Sarah said as she turned to face Tyson. “You think they’ll be back before we’re done with preparation?” Sarah asked with a neutral face. “I hope so, otherwise I'm going back to London.” Tyson then felt a hand on his shoulder. Thinking it was Connor he took a breath before speaking again.
“Or I can leave when we’re done.” Tyson said as he turned around to see Morgan behind him. Morgan just stared at him until he returned his attention back to the table. “We need to get everything on the list, split up?” Tyson said as he unrolled a piece of paper onto the table. John looked at it before looking at his own chip. “That’s a lot of hardware, are we sure we need it?” John asked as he reluctantly put his chip onto the middle of the table. Sarah smiled as she noticed the term John used. “Yes, rendezvous after every trip so we can hand the chip off without attracting any attention.” Sarah said right before picking up the chip and motioning for John to go with her. Everyone nodded at the idea and left the table one by one until John and Sarah then left. “Let’s go kid, I want you to see the world of criminals.” Sarah said as they both walked out the door.

Writing for me is something I love to do, but can't always find the time for. This is also the reason I have not finished (or come close to) Ethereal Space yet. I get distracted. I started this novel intending to create something else, to break a bit with the current go to's story wise in the litRPG or virtual reality communities. So, this is my attempt at "Something different" I would love feedback or just your general opinion. But most of all, I hope it entertains. Enjoy!
