《Dungeon of books》A true abomination - Chapter 32

Pov - Umbra
Well, I believe that I shouldn't make the necromancer himself be the Plane guardian for various reasons, the most prominent being that he is going to be a field scientist, so he is going to be sent out every now and again. So what should I make for a Plane guardian, yeah sure, I should just make a skeleton of some kind the Plane guardian, but that just seems like a cop-out. I should make something unique, and surprising for the plane guardian. We need that flare of enthusiasm, in this line of work. It should be a beast with a size unimaginable, so abominable that it causes all who lay eyes on it to drop to their knees in fear with their mouths agape, unable even to scream as the beast looms over them, causing even their soul to shiver.
I suck in a gasp as the perfect idea hits me in the middle of my abomination monologue, even if the monologue was just in my mind. I don’t even spend any more time thinking about what I’m about to create, and just jump to it with enthusiasm rarely seen.
First, I make a human skeleton, which was a lot easier thanks to all the biology lessons we took. I then just clump together more and more skeletons until a lifeless mound of skeletons is sitting in front of me. But before I move forward, a thought hits me, ‘This is not as scary as I want.’ So how should I make this scarier to give that factor of fear I was going for. I know, I'm just adding skeletons, I should also add bits of flesh to give it more character.
So that's what I do, layer flesh onto some while leaving others pristine or as pristine as bone can get, creating a mishmash of zombies and skeletons with flesh dripping off every now and again. Pus using from some of them, which I did not even intend to do, it just worked out that way.
So far so good, but it's missing something. I place a finger on my non-existing chin in thought, then it hits me. I forgot to animate it! So as I prepare to animate the whole thing, another better idea hits me. I make an evil smile form on a zombie that I am staring at just out of reflex, but that is not the matter because instead of me just reanimating it as it is, why not another mass of ghost clumps up in there as both the glue and power? I might even be able to give it some soul attack or, even better, a light glow. As I prepare to summon a shit ton of soul matter, yes that's what I’m calling it, to use as grime within the clump of rotting flesh and skeletons. I then realize I’m out of Mana at this moment in time and just stand there awkwardly for a few seconds before a non-exciting blush of embarrassment covers my face.

I cough into my hand for a bit, and say to myself I did get a little carried away while making it, so it is only reasonable that I run out of mana.
Carried away is an understatement because the thing that stands before me is massive. At least roughly 1 cubic km, and by roughly, I mean roughly because there really is no way to tell what its true size is because there are curves everywhere. For being made almost completely out of skeletons, its shape is really just like a sand dune. But I guess it's time to stare at a forest for a few days as I get done waiting for my Mana to refill.
I do need something better to do than just stare out onto my creation for a few days. Wait, Shit, the lab, I almost forgot about it. I yell out, rushing to the lab from the unknown space because I left all my creatures there without food. And when I get back there, all my rats are dead. The elementals are left alive, obviously, and so is the mind eater which I believed ate the minds of all the rats, and the slime which is just sitting in a barrel after it left its cage… stuck… slime really are not the brightest tool in the shed. I'm really starting to wonder how slime became a calamity race, were people just weak back then?
I should really pick up a hobby that does not involve mana, should I start reading. Yeah, I know, the jokes, ‘oh my god a book reading a book is cannibalism.' I just don’t have anything better to do in my free time when I am trying to regain mana. Akasha also seems to be carrying a metric fuck ton of books. She is a book nerd, after all.
Several days later
I just sat there in the middle of the fortress, letting out this old man sound in pure boredom. I don’t even know how many days it has been, and there still are no signs of adventurers to cure my boredom. If I was not so stubborn I would have to ask Akasha to give me a book but no I had to say to myself, ‘Next time I find myself in a situation like this I will ask Akasha’. You know what, at least I keep my word to myself, even though I should have just caved in and asked Akasha for the book.

I ruminate on my personality for a bit longer than I just shake my head saying, I am just too stubborn sometimes.
But that's all besides the point for now because I finally refilled on mana. I just need to remember next time that I may have an insane amount of mana, but it takes forever to even get close to refilling.
Alright where was I in creating my newest masterpiece, aw yes, I'm going to add soul matter to my creation for power and movability… wait it's called… Mobility, I say while hammering a nonexistent fist into a nonexistent palm. Alright, how should I do this? I'll just dump it, as I did with everything else. I imagine summoning a lot of what I saw when I look at myself in the nothingness to be summoned all over this monstrosity size creature. And what comes out is a blank material, no not white but blank, I don’t know how, but this material is waiting to have something I can not provide to be imprinted onto it. It is weird and confusing, just like the nothingness and my core book, but that is for the experts. I’m just a dungeon with no adventurers. I should just stop.
Wait what happened to my creature, it's already moving, I didn't even give it a will yet, or to be more accurate, I have not even tried to bring it to life yet. Was it the soul matter, what am I saying, of course, it is from the soul matter. What else could it be from the skeletons?
I need to just stop and focus on the beast. It is all that it was before but in between the flesh and bones, this is the blank glow with a need to have something imprinted on it, even look like it trying to grab my memories! This is awesome! I don’t know what happens if it got a hold of them, but I can’t wait for this thing to become stronger. I wonder what will happen when a creature weak enough loses all its memories, will they be classified as a monster or will they just collapse to the ground. So many questions. But that is for later because the first thing I should do is look at its status.

God, what a terrifying status… It's perfect. Why the hell is that number so goddamn high? It’s even a unique creature, this is amazing… I just noticed something… this is only 1/10th of the bones, the rest are still unmoving. This means this creature is only 1/10 the size I expected it to be, so their so much room for growth. This creature is truly unique, but what should I name it. I know, I know, NecroMass gets it. I say all of this out loud in what amounts to a child-like voice, eyes completely pined on the creature.
Furthermore, I just checked, and it even took NecroMass as both its name and race name. I would also like to work on the Demi-Plane now, but I’m out of Mana again, thanks to all the Soul matter I summoned for the skeletons, so boo. Guess it's back to waiting, no I can finally ask Akasha for a book. Nice, less boredom to me.
