《Dungeon of books》Final Touches - Chapter 6

I was currently watching Fus put his Drakekin into line and through drills. Fus was heartless from what he has been putting his troops through. Push-ups, Archery, Blocking, and last of all he makes them use their beath attack to the utmost of their ability. Fus was a good leader from what I could tell, but I don’t have experience in the field of leadership. During the time I was watching Fus, I only saw him use the sword once. When Fus pick up the sword, it was like the air around him became a pseudo-domain filled up with his sword intent. He brought out the sword and in a quick slash, he cut the wall with a long gash. The gash that his sword made leaked this sharp silver energy. Fus then told the surrounding Drakekin that use the sword to meditate on the truth of the sword, and advance on the path of their swordsmanship.
This came to me while I was watching Fus train more people with the bow. How did I know what they were saying? This came about when I realized they were not speaking Common. After a while of contemplation, I concluded that the system gave me the language because I made their race.
After a while of watching Fus, I moved on to watching the wildlife in the crater. The lake bothered me, mostly because it was not full of water. This got me thinking of what secret boss would I put into the lake for adventurers to try against. For a while, I thought of either having it be the home of powerful water elemental or just a giant slime. Toying with some ideas, I thought up a race of watermen living in the lake, but soon I also discarded the idea. I imagined a giant drake living in the lake. Why not a dragon you may ask, well dragons take too much mana to create. I should know I tried hard. I finally settled on the idea of having lotuses floating on the lake. The lotuses will form a golem out of every lotus currently in the lake when a person or animal tries to remove a lotus.
So I started work on the lake and lotus golem. The lake was nothing special but there were hundreds of lotuses flowers just floating on top of the lake. I then Imagined an invisible force pulling the lotuses together to a vaguely humanoid form. The form of the lotus golem was roughly 10ft tall and formed from head to tail out of seaweed and lotuses flowers. That is strange I have never introduced seaweed to the lake? Well, it is out of my control now. The lotus golem had several areas on its body where it just was pink petals. I sent the lotus golem back to rest. When the golem touches the water it is like it just melted into a pile of slowly floating out lotus flowers, though from underneath you could see that the seaweed was connecting it all. Around this time when the golem was dissipating, I brought out its status.

Seeing the status of the Lotus golem, I whistled. It was strong or at least in my eyes it was. Though I have to wonder what some of the skills do. Magic Absorption is obvious, and so is water and nature manipulation. I also believe I can put together why he has whip mastery. What Is Natures Wrath though? Whenever I try to check it, it says that my skill Domain Presence is too low to view the skill description. So I just guess that I have to wait until it is used in combat.

Since I am working on the secret bosses, I should move on to the next one. I moved my consciousness down from the view of the lake to the ruin. The ruin was made from a white and black stone that I just thought would be interesting. There was rubble that the adventurer group would have to move away to access the treasure in the ruin. Though there would be a secret boss here to guard the treasure. The ruins guardian was a lot easier to think of than the Lotus golem. What I thought of was a metal spider, the spider was made of vaguely silver metal that I didn’t know the name of. The metal spider would also have the ability to cast spells with runes. I could not inscribe the ruins that it would use yet, cause Akasha still won’t stop looking at my core book for one second. So I just moved on to the last secret boss for this demi-plane.
The last secret boss resided in a nest chamber that is one of the side paths on the lowest level. The nest was entirely made of stone with only one entrance. My idea of who would live in this nest would be a drake. I don’t want to go with a stone drake though, I was thinking along the lines of a darkness or shadow drake. That got me thinking before I moved on to the drake how are all my Kobolds seeing stuff in this darkness. When I look around, I saw that the upper mine Kobolds used torches, while in the lower part of the mines the mages are using a light spell. Finally the lowest level I found something peculiar, the drakekin were just walking around in the darkness as if it didn’t impede them. I found out by just investigating them that they have gained the skill Dark Vision.
Now after that discovery I moved my consciousness back into the nest. I start working on the shadow drake now, I gave her the ability to move through shadow. I wanted to give the shadow drake the ability of stealth but I could not imagine stealth that is not invisibility or just crouching. I tried to imagine the nothingness, but I couldn’t even begin to try to give the power of nothingness to something. After I tied that my thoughts drifted a bit, in the middle of creating the drake. I thought of the void and how silent and deadly it is. But at the thought of the void in me, something happed before I could stop it. A little tendril of the abyssal energy about a foot long with the thickness of a hair slid into my drake. That little tendril started to change my drake into something, that was not a drake. It was grotesque the way it changed the drake. It first started by forcing the mouth bigger by just tearing it, the now black blood and flesh were scattered everywhere in the chamber. The not so drake then had its scales fall off with a squishing sound as the scale and the skin it was connected to thumped off. The horror then had its black flesh starting to form a mouth on the scaleless sides. I took my mind out of the book at breakneck speed before I could see any more.
When I came out of the Demi-plane book I saw that Akasha had a look of horror on her face I yelled to her, we have a problem Akasha, a strand of Abyssal energy infected one of my creatures.

After hearing me Akasha is knocked out of her stupor and turns her face to look at the core book. She then asks out in a scared tone that I have never heard before, “Were you corrupted by the Abyss.”
Hearing her say this out loud, I try to come to an answer that would make both of us satisfied, Well I don’t feel corrupted, But the system did say that I was slightly corrupted by it. I also think it said I had an affinity toward the element but I didn’t pay attention to that part.
Hearing my puzzled out words, Akasha then lets out a sigh, and still with a tinge of fear in her voice she replies, “Well the system thought It was safe for you to be here, So I will just go with its judgment for now.” She shivers a bit, then asks out, “you wanted something.”
The final words she spoke made me remember the mission I came here for, Ah yes I have a problem in the demi-plane. A creature that I had been working on was corrupted by the Abyssal energy and is becoming something else. I need your help to deal with it.
Akasha acknowledges my request and speaks up with a far calmer voice “I will not interfere with anything involving the abyss.” She swallow the saliva that had been accumulating in her mouth. She continues, “If I were you I would seal it off with a smaller entrance so it can’t roam, and a sign for adventurers not to go in.”
I say slightly confused, Why should we not just seal it off completely or just try to kill it.
She says in a partially put-together scholarly tone, “The abyss is not an element one can explain, the abyss tries to turn everything to its tone, corrupting it in the progress. The abyss is the closest thing you could get to an unstoppable force without an immovable wall.”
So, I say not getting what she is trying to say.
“The point is that if it, can’t escape it would build up abyssal energy and blow apart your demi-plain.” She responded in an angry tone.
Alright, I will get right on that, I say in a scared tone, cause I am afraid of everything I have made disappearing in an instant.
I then quickly made my way back into the demi-plain expecting to see pandemonium but everything look the same. I move my consciousness down to where the abyssal creature now sleeps. I saw that the chamber’s exit is too small for the creature to get through, so all I have to do now is to set a sign saying, the area is highly dangerous do not proceed. I placed the sign after a curve in the mine’s wall about a few hundred meters away from the chamber. When I was done placing the sign, I thought I would take a quick look at the abyssal creature’s status.

Well, that’s interesting, I have no idea how strong it is. All the Abyss Entity is doing is just sleeping, so it is not being a problem. I move my mind off the creature that could end me, and onto the spider that I never got Akasha to enchant. I move my mind out of the demi-plain to go talk with Akasha again. When I got out of the book I could see Akasha just resting at the desk.
Hey Akasha, can I have you do something for me, I ask in the most cheerful tone I could muster.
“Yeah, I need something to get my mind off things. Oh unless it has anything to do with the abyssal creature.” Akasha utters in a tone that shows she is mentally tired.
Alright, all I need you to do is inscribe some runes onto a metal spider so it can cast some spell using said runes, I speak in an excited tone, cause I’m talking about the things I have created.
“Yeah that sounds easy to do, so do you just need me going into the demi-plain.” She responds thinking about the possible runes she could use on the spider.
Yeah all you have to do is go into the demi-world and I could bring you down to the spider, I say in haste.
“Alright, here I go.” Akasha opens the book to the demi-plain and is sucked into it. I follow Akasha into the plain. Akasha has stars twinkling in her eyes as she looks around the demi-plain. It’s different up here, there is more life in the air and everything is more active, but I can investigate that later. I spend the next several hours guiding Akasha to the ruins. When we get there I can see that Akasha’s sight has landed on the metal spider.
I interrupt Akasha before she could get her hand on the metal spider, So what runes are you going to add to the spider.
“That’s easy, I will give the spider access to a cast rune and an assembly rune. With these runes, the spider should be able to cast complex rune magic. The runes that she should be able to wield and cast will be written on her back.” After this point in the explanation, I lost focus on what Akasha said. When Akasha was finally finished and got up, we had another conversation about the demi-plain. Then she just left where she was standing in my demi-plain and appeared in the real world. I was surprised that she could do that, but I guess it was because of the bond she and I were in helping her do it.
After adding some story elements, and other things to spice it up, I was about to be done with the first demi-plain. All I had left was loot, to distribute. But what was there to distribute, all the kobold drop their gear when they die, and the secret bosses have items in the body that would make it worth killing them, So I don’t know what else to add. If worst comes to worst I could always just spawn in loot myself.
I left the demi-plain and yelled out through are bond, I am finally done… I am going to open the gate to the outside world. All she does is give me a grunt as she got back to deciphering my core book. I mumble in my head that this was a monumental occasion.
I set my will to form an entrance and exit, and with a puff of smoke about 50 meters away from our mini library is a magic door that opens up into a staircase that goes up until the surface. I am sure that this was just made when the entrance was made cause it counted as my domain already and I could see the outside world, not a building. Though it does look like an adventurer found us. I couldn’t help but chuckle cause a person is already falling down the stairs and by the look of it, she is a healer.

This is also, essentially, a first draft. That means I will edit older chapters and nothing is final, including numbers. Any major changes are listed in the changelog below each chapter. Since this is a first draft, the start is noticably bad and inconsistent compared to the more recent chapters so you will have to endure that to get to the good stuff. The Devil's own sins
Writer updates available for free on patreon. The following account, dear reader, is a recollection and retelling of the story of the first imp. The last devil born from the original primordial pit at the dawn of time, and the lowliest speck of that first generation. It recounts the tale of Thozronnath the pitiful and his steady rise from obscurity, perpetually stuck as a punching bag for his betters until the day hell itself spat him out. The information presented here is pieced together from eye-witness reports and second hand hearsay, sometimes from creatures with more than two hands. I can not tell you with any degree of accuracy how much of it is true as it begins long before our time and it's true ending lies far unto the future still. I can tell you one thing though, it was confusing as hell. Cover: Illustration for John Milton's Paradise Lost by Gustave Doré (1866), a thankfully public domain image. Currently on hiatus.
