《Heaven of the Dream Fantasy - Going for a pacifist record》Chapter 44: Friendship Engine
Advertisement
Magical girl Shadyna is going to achieve mankind's oldest dream~!
A dream that has existed since humans saw birds for the first time in ancient times.
No, it's not growing a beak or laying eggs!!! What kind of person want that?! Actually, I can live without knowing.
It's flight! Flight! Soaring into the sky as one wishes, blasting through the air at supersonic speed, launching missiles at unwitting targets and watching stuff exploding!
Somehow, I don't think that's what birds do… Oh well, little details~
The cafeteria crew is going to fight the boss at Snow Mountain zone this weekend, when everyone can login. If explosions cannot solve a problem, add more explosions! Or so it usually goes. In any case, they will be grinding until then.
Of course, some were supposed to guard me, but I refused. After all, how are they going to follow me if I take off to the sky? They will lose sight of me around ten seconds once I start running anyway.
Since even my friends can't keep up, no half-baked assailant will be able to get close. That is if they don't get seen by [Detect Presence]. In this barren wasteland where the literally sky-high tower resides, there's no crowd of degenerates to hide into like last time!
Now then, let's see if this can work…
_ Shadyna: Gelly, Lutena, I'm counting on you two today!
The green blob on my head wriggles happily. It has been doing nothing but relaxing in the lava pot for the last few weeks, so this is a very welcomed change of pace.
As expected of leafy stuff, they aren't very mobile, un. 's pet is an exception. That poor flower is full speed ahead most of the time it's summoned.
My other pet, Lutena, was even more jobless. Not being able to take damage due to her being [Symbiosis], she couldn't even take a lava bath like Gelly. I do feel a bit sorry for her, but it couldn't be helped. Our current main jobs in a party (healer/supporter) overlap, so she does not need to do anything besides dangling cutely at my side.
I don't really mind that, but if someone realizes I am treating a bonus-boss-level pet as decorative accessory, I will never hear the end of it.
Back to main topic, this game for some reason goes out of its way to limit players' ability to gain altitude. There are skills to keep oneself in the air like [Air Cushion] or [Water Bubble], of course. However, their mechanics are obviously gimped to prevent any kind of ascension. Sateri is scared of trespassers, confirmed~
Skill-wise, I only know of two ways to get off the ground. The first one is [Leap], which allows me to go in any direction whenever I want to, including vertical. Would be a no-brainer for flight if this body of mine didn't start freefalling the moment the skill effect ends.
The other way is using skills with knockback effect. In other words, most skills created with blunt weapons in mind. [Slam] is the bread and butter one for most players. Then there's with her [Divine Impact] that can send anyone higher than any normal [Leap] can do. She can't blast herself off with it though, which was the only thing stopping her from becoming a rocket.
Who the heck thought it was a good idea to give that person such a dangerous skill?!
Outside of skills, there's the mundane [Construction] to build a tower to go higher. Wait, wouldn't that be counted as a skill too? Hmm…
[Construction] is out right off the bat still. What kind of last boss lets you build a tower in the middle of a fight? Not to mention the amount of materials needed at hand to build it. It is impractical in combat, and I want to have air superiority in combat!
That's not what air superiority is? That's what it is in a fantasy world! I think.
Attack skills are also rejected for the same reason. Even if I disguise them as buffs using hybrid items, their damage is still real. Just for reference, when hammered everyone in her sight, our squishier friends had to rely on [Shared Fate] to survive the launch.
If there's something that can seriously hurt me in this game, it would be bonus bosses, and my own firepower. If it was just raw stats, my own PDF and MDF could hold. Once [Accelerate Power] comes into the scene though…
It's not going to be just a heroic sacrifice to defeat the last boss. The boss, myself, the castle of evil and the whole kingdom will be wiped off the map altogether! And I bet the princess will just get her dress burnt because that's how it usually works.
Regardless, that leaves [Leap] as my only option.
Earlier, I tried combining [Leap] and [Air Cushion]. If I fall before I can use it again, using [Air Cushion] to prevent that fall is a logical assumption, is it not?
Did not work~
Chanting the skill takes time, and the effect itself takes time to manifest. I was already on the ground when the cushion fully manifested. While I can try running around first to build up speed for a higher jump, it is awkward to run midair until [Leap] is ready again.
What am I, a multistage rocket?
If all else fails, I will try it out. Let's hope it won't come to that, because my image of flight will collapse if I do so.
This is where Gelly and Lutena come in.
_ Shadyna: Here you go.
---
[ Rocket Fuel]
- Creator:
- Quality:
- Type: , , ,
- CON: 15
- Food:
+
+ 1 HP
- Alchemy:
- Furniture: Leap Lv.11
---
I give my pets not just one but many copies of this item. Aside from [Leap], every other [Cooking] and [Alchemy] effects are minimal to reduce item's cooldown time. Tradeoffs are so painful to deal with, I'm telling you.
This item was based on the [Fishy Dumpluck] with [Leap] in it. The guy who ate it was thrown into the ceiling and got stuck. Had to pull him out by murdering him and his corpse, because it was the fastest way.
Moral of the story: Don't stand still while activating [Leap], unless you want to end up like that. Otherwise, it's just a normal (albeit a bit involuntary) skill invocation.
I was worried about the 15-minute cooldown for foods, but it doesn't seem to apply to multi-category items. It's natural, of course. If food has no effect for such a long time, throwing food items in combat won't be viable.
While I don't think many (if any) players seriously throw food in this game, Sateri cannot just alienate them. I like it when she corners herself accidentally, ufufu~
Yes, I still hold a grudge over the food debuff skill stack (or lack thereof).
_ Shadyna: Okay~ You guys ready?
I can feel the light jiggling on top, and the lantern swinging just a bit. Un, let's go~
This method should be applicable everywhere, but since this is a trial run, I will use the big slope I built to climb the smooth surface of this weird structure. In the worst-case scenario, I'll just slide off it once I lose all speed.
And I'm more used to it as well.
Without a warmup like last time, my speed as I run up is significantly lower. If I continue as-is, I will probably topple soon.
Before that can happen… [Leap]! Using [Silent Cast] to avoid shouting like a typical hero in a boss fight, of course.
Thanks to the skill, I overcome the annoying gravity and take off into the air.
Gelly, now!
As the skill's effect ends and my body begins to lose speed, the cute blob fires one of the [ Rocket Fuel] at me.
I do not have the stats menu open, but I am sure I gain one blue (overflow) HP as I launch forward again.
You gain overflow as you receive healings that at full health, until your total HP is doubled. It cannot be restored by HP regeneration though, so it's more like a one-time armor.
It is useful when healings are hard to come by, or you need to assert superiority because a blue HP bar is terrifying!
Lutena, your turn!
I bounce up again thanks to her item. While air jumps like what I am doing are not particularly rare, unlimited air jumps are. After all, sane developers will just give flight ability instead.
Speed is dropping again. [ Rocket Fuel]!
Yes, I am holding quite a few as well. By the time the effects of three items run out, my [Leap] is ready for use once more.
[Leap]!
And with this, my infinite jump technique is complete! The limits to this method are my own MP and the [ Rocket Fuel]'s remaining charges, both of which I have plenty of.
I don't even need to run vertically on the wall. In fact, I have been flying after the first [Leap]. It is hard to change direction because I cannot use my propulsion continuously, but I think it is something to solve later.
For now, I will just enjoy my victory over physics!
This wouldn't be possible without the help of my cute little pets that can be "worn" like accessories. To think the power of friendship would be so great, it can be used as propulsion…
From this day onwards, this maneuver shall be called… Friendship Engine! Ending theme please~
…
After the trial flight, I used [Teleport] to return to the ground. Landing procedures? What's that? Is it edible?
Ignoring the imaginary cries of pilots all over the world accusing me of cheating, I pull out a mat and put it on the ground. It's picnic time!
This whole thing started because of a roadblock I encountered during my previous tower climbing. Remember how I received environmental damage after a certain height? Guess what? It gets worse! The damage increases with the height. The higher I went, the faster my HP bar was drained, until I had to pull back because I ran out of HP.
What the hell was that, Sateri? If this massive health pool of mine cannot handle the trip, how is anyone supposed to make it?
I could run longer on the ground to get more speed, but I honestly didn't know how high this building goes. All things considered, finding a way to travel with no warmup so I can teleport out, heal up then resume is much, much easier.
To maximize my airborne time up there, let's craft a new armor set focusing on HP. And a bunch of healing items to use during breaks too…
_ ???: Oh, . What are you doing here?
While I was sipping tea with my pets, someone called out to me from the side.
I totally saw them coming, okay? I was definitely not absorbed in a picnic atmosphere and unprepared for another surprise attack, okay?
_ Shadyna: Hiyo, ~
It's the infamous kidnapper party~ Hmm? There are more players than I remember.
A warrior, a hammer guy, and a priestess. And they look familiar too. Have I met them before?
_ Maximus: Geh, why is it you again?
_ Tippe: Now now, Max, don't get us killed now. We have a job to do.
If you guys want to live a long fulfilling life, better fix first, un.
_ Ignar: She's already judging us… We are investigating the towers. Did you happen to uh… see anything weird here?
Didn't think others are interested in this place as well. I wonder if they have a way to climb it?
_ Shadyna: *Shakes head* I was checking this place out as well, but there's nothing out of the ordinary.
It's the same empty land around as always, and I am pretty sure the tower didn't start moving or firing lasers this whole time.
Not that I would notice, since I was busy practicing to control my flight…
_ Ignar: You too huh…
_ Shadyna: I happen to have some excess food here. Do you want to eat together?
_ Tippe: Can we?!
_ Maximus: You didn't rig it with explosives, did you?
_ Shadyna: How rude~
I want to have a small chat with them, mainly about their knowledge of this weird tower.
_ Priestess: Uh… we ate at the cafeteria, so…
Despite her objection, others have already taken their seats on the mat. Making yourselves right at home, aren't you…
_ Tippe: It's fine, it's fine. Her food is to die for, literally.
I'm flattered, but I would rather you not spread weird rumors about me!
…
Unfortunately, 's party doesn't know anything about the tower itself. They were only coming here to see if there was anything unusual around it. An unknown boss randomly appearing, for example.
This barren location is unexpectedly dangerous?!
looks like he was dying to ask about my slope, but he's not saying anything. Not sure if his pride does not allow it, or and forbid him from doing so. If you don't ask, I am not answering anything, okay~?
_ Ignar: Guess it's not this one. Oh well…
_ Shadyna: Uhm… How did you know that something had happened to begin with?
Usually, it would be the other way around right? You are enjoying your daily life in a dark forest when a big bad evil monster appears and starts eating your party members, or something along that line…
_ Ignar: The prophecy, just like everyone else, obviously.
No no no, even if you say "obviously", it's not obvious to me at all! What prophecy are you talking about?
_ Priestess: Leader, if we don't get going soon…
_ Ignar: Right right. Thanks for the food, , but we have to join up with others now.
Yet you have time to sit down and eat…
Guess they couldn't resist the materialism aura of my food~
_ Shadyna: Okay~ Thanks for stopping by~
_ Tippe: By the way, these players are our potential recruits. We are making a new guild!
Oh, so that's why they are going with . A guild with only three players is a bit sad, after all.
A guild of kidnappers… Let's not think too deeply about it.
_ Shadyna: Congrats~ But I am not giving and back, okay? They promised to join my guild.
_ Ignar: Ahaha, so that's what you meant back then huh. Alright, I won't try to invite them then.
Is that regret I am seeing from your expression~? That's your fault for abandoning your cute cousin who is a walking weapon of mass destruction every guild would want to have now!
Feel free to be jealous, sinister laughing~
_ Ignar: And we have not created the guild yet. Still in the recruiting phase you see.
At the moment, you only need to open the guild menu and pay one gold coin to have your own guild anyway. It's not something you need days to prepare in advance.
_ Tippe: That reminds me, what's your guild's name? Somehow we don't have any info on it.
_ Shadyna: There's none. I have not created my guild either.
_ Tippe: Why?! You already have a lot of members right?!
True that. I have enough money and members so I can do it anytime I want. However, when I was talking to Sateri after defeating the weird mask, the topic of guilds came up, and she told me that guild creation would change in the next big patch as well.
Because she gave me such precious insider information, I couldn't just ignore it, could I? I want to enjoy the game as much as possible after all~
_ Shadyna: It is the Goddess's prophecy telling me to wait until next week!
_ Maximus: What the heck is that supposed to mean?!
Parting ways with 's party, I clean up the picnic site. Let's dismantle the slope too while I'm at it. Thank you for your service, Mr. Slope, but you have outlived your usefulness.
Ah, I finally remember who the new players were. They were the party that got eaten by Merexxa in the forest back then!
I'll greet them properly if I meet them again, un.
Putting aside such idle thoughts, I look at the blue sky once more.
Now then, can I fly to the top before the end of the day?
[Teleport]. Activate Friendship Engine!
____________
was serving the customers when a party of three arrives.
_ Vulkerzelianna Merashiel: Welcome back~ Would you like dinner, a bath, or…
_ Fuelri: Dinner.
_ Fensen: Dinner~
_ Poltea: D-dinner, please.
The waitress in charge prepares the food while pretending to sob pitifully. It is so fake, has to wonder whether this crazy woman is actually making sure everyone in sight knows she is faking it.
_ Vulkerzelianna Merashiel: Elri has been treating me coldly recently…
_ Warrior: Damn elf but bless your breasts!
_ Shield wielder: Please don't fight because of me!
_ Fuelri: You degenerates shut the hell up!!!
Next time, she will choose a different location. Somewhere with fewer maniacs to deal with, most likely.
_ Vulkerzelianna Merashiel: How did the negotiations go? Did you put them out of their misery as they begged for…
_ Fuelri: We did not! had abandoned the mountain by the time we arrived!
_ Vulkerzelianna Merashiel: Oh?
_ Fensen: Mister Corpse said United Mankind kept attacking and the boss fight was impossible, so they were going to do something else!
_ Poltea: , it's Unity of Mankind…
_ Random player: That guy leaked confidential information again!!!
Despite the unexpected resolution, the plan to clear Snow Mountain for the weekend raid was a complete success.
Probably.
--- Topic: Food main build? ---
## OP alchemist
Black Mantis proved that food can be used offensively. Question is, can normal players do it?
##
## Serious Mage
Because the last trend with mounted beasts turned out soooooo well (it didn't)… (~_~)
Depending on RNG just to craft the item is way too big of a gamble, which doesn't have high rewards to compensate.
For players not in the know, you need the very random Spicing skill to make food with debuff effects. Attribute buffs/debuffs affect combat status, but they are always weaker than direct buff/debuffs of the same level.
##
## Mage of Sin
If you compare between them, attribute debuff will undoubtedly be weaker. What you can do is using it in addition to other debuffs, because they stack together.
We have been using them on bosses. The reduced damage gets a lot of pressure off tanks. (*_*)
Anything lower than that and it's not cost effective, I admit.
##
## OP alchemist
So cooks will be support of support… Now we just wait for Black Mantis to find a way to make those explosive dumplings cheaply…
##
## Teabag Master
The cafeteria would like to recommend our wide array of weaponized food selection! =^_^=
It won't be cheap, but it will be cheaper than making it yourself. (^_-)-☆
##
## Manly Warrior
Have mercy on our wallets, please! (>_

How to unlock: Automatically. It is given to all closed beta players, including new characters.
##
## PeaceDestroyer
What the heck? Why are you old timers getting all the good stuff?
##
## GoldBar9999
Say that when it actually does anything. In its current state, it is just a vague warning like your typical prophecies.
##
## Nearseeing Sage
The title has been updated.
Vision: An encroaching darkness wanders around the pillar of the world. Heaven is being invaded.
Support: Reduce damage of the void significantly.
I am sure "pillar of the world" refers to the indestructible towers scattered around the world. Can someone check up on them?
Not sure what "the void" means, unfortunately.
##
## Manly Warrior
Nothing at the tower behind Forest.
##
## Fire mage of Justice
Situation normal between the Beach and Lava Rift.
##
## Mage of Sin
Same thing to the west of Sand Circles. Although we did find a wild sprout and had lunch with her. (^o^)/
[Pic]
##
## Nearseeing Sage
Go explode! (#゚Д゚)
What was she doing there by the way? She shouldn't have the title.
##
## Maximus Archery
The brat was investigating, just like us. Even built a slide to climb a bit, presumably.
Sateri-chan told her more than she told us, judging from our conversation.
Special treatment, again. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

## GoldBar9999
Someone's jelly. ┬──┬ ¯\_(ツ)
