《Heaven of the Dream Fantasy - Going for a pacifist record》Chapter 40: Civil construction

Shadyna Construction Ltd. is open for business!
Yesterday, I was forced to do an exhibition (again!), but for weapons instead of armors. Also, it was in public, because the degenerate patrons were begging to be scorned and no one in the cafeteria wanted to miss out on the fun that is making this cute me suffer!
…I really should find new acquaintances who won't enjoy bullying me…
A~nyway, during the show, PM-ed me, offering gold coins in exchange for my service.
Un, even now I still think it was the beginning of a questionable plot, if it weren't for his known obsession with body fat.
Apparently he needed to do some preparations on his side, so he asked me to meet again the day after, which is today. As if he had any chance of pulling me out of the exhibition without getting mauled to death by both the crew and the patrons.
…Our customers are not developing a preference for little girls, right?
_ Shadyna: Hiyo~, !
_ Olkan: Yo, .
Of course, I am not without bodyguards today either.
_ Melodyn & Choruse: Good day to you, pig.
_ Olkan: I am blessed by your presence!
First minute in and I already feel like going on a journey again… Who the hell thought it was a good idea to have these two busty dark elves of all people to accompany me, knowing that I am meeting up with the biggest breast maniac in the player base?!
Maybe I should join and . Working with Elri to fight the new Avitus Caelicola sounds more appealing, honestly…
Even though I am supposed to look after them. Welp~
Oh well, as long as and don't have to spend their precious time on the adorable dorks. That's what they want, right~?
_ Choruse: What kind of place are you selling to? We weren't told anything before departure.
Wait, what?
_ Olkan: If I was going to sell her, would be here don't you think?
Is he the type that sells his sister as long as he profits from it?!
_ Melodyn: That's why we are here, to make sure has enough blunt weaponries~
How about you do your job and murder my adversaries before I am forced to defend myself?! I am a pacifist you know? A kind, non-violent girl who only wants to live in peace, that's what I am!
Maybe I should just respond with lethal force whenever someone questions my true pacifism. Yes, like that expression you guys are making!
_ Olkan: Not saying that I am selling you to this time but…
Right, you were trying to the last time.
_ Olkan: Mind hitting me with them? Preferably both.
Un, degenerate, confirmed. Can I go now?
…
_ Olkan: Please start from here. Materials are in the wagons. Because aesthetics is important, please follow this recipe and increase material accordingly.
To keep the explanation short: I was asked to build new outer walls for Tyrel.
I thought the job was rebuilding the current walls, but it appears that somehow secured more funding in the time between. That's the CEO of the boobs maniacs for you.
_ Olkan: Tyrel is running out of area to build on. We had planned to extend the building areas to support the new players, then a guild war happened, a Magnus Bestia appeared in the forest, Sateri-chan made raids unprofitable, the other Magnus Bestia turned apocalyptic, and finally Sateri-chan nerfed us to the ground. It's amazing how we haven't fallen apart!
Welp. That was a long list of suffering… And somehow I am involved in most of them?!
_ Shadyna: Sorry~
was probably the most affected guild due to how economy-dependent they are. You guys have it rough in a different way huh…
_ Olkan: The saving grace is the game gaining a lot more players these days, so the economy is recovering… for now.
_ Shadyna: I'll do my best too!
A good economy requires a safe population. When I am done with these walls the player base will be so safe, they will have to ask our cafeteria crew to step on them to be in danger!
…Why does that sound pretty much like what those degenerates are doing already?
Oh well, let's bring out the hammer!
_ Shadyna: Bam bam~ I will smash you into existence~
As I swing my "weapon" around, walls appear in front of me. The crafting time has increased tremendously due to the nerf patch, so I have time to roleplay as a hardworking construction worker. Immersion is important!
_ Olkan: That is scary…
_ Shadyna: How rude~ You need a hammer in all construction work, right?
_ Olkan: Logically, yes… But what you are wielding is a two-handed war hammer!
I have a good look at my weapon to make sure I didn't grab 's by mistake. Why do I need to even consider this possibility? Am I going nuts from long exposure to the waitresses?
_ Shadyna: No, it is a wooden maul. It's often used to sma… I mean, drive big stakes in!
_ Olkan: You were saying something else there weren't you?!
Little details~
…
The wall itself is simple. It should be something like this:
---
[ Cafeteria Construction Wall]
- Creator:
- Quality:
- Type: , ,
- Enhancement: 15
- Enchantment:
- HP: 1300
- CON: 10
---
Maybe not as simple as other walls per se, but that's how it is tougher. A lot tougher, in fact.
The HP and CON add up to the wall's total HP, which has been a confirmed feature after messing around with putting more MEN into [Recall] tablets for more usages. It is more efficient to put PDF or MDF as defense scales better than HP against many enemies, but I still am unable to make an armor piece with multiple stats, so I chose HP to be balanced in all situations.
That, and good synergy with [Cell Revitalization]. Good luck breaking this thing if the total damage per second is not exceeding the regeneration, wall-breaking protagonists!
Buildings having naturally high defense to withstand attacks is not helping the demolitionist wannabes. I wonder if I should abu… take advantage of such mechanics for shields and armors. Feel free to sneeze for no reason, .
_ Shadyna: [Creation]~!
_ Melodyn: [Enchant]~
_ Choruse: [Enhance]!
_ Olkan: [Blueprint]!
Okay, that one intrigues me. I don't remember a crafting skill with that name. I have been trying to be professional and ignore it, but the curiosity is killing me!
_ Choruse: , just explain the skill to her already. If she accidentally creates a weapon of mass destruction under duress, it will be on you.
_ Olkan: Wait, what? Why me?!
_ Melodyn: Because she is making the "Is it edible?" face, and she knows e~verything about us already. Right, ?
I, for one, was not thinking about eating anything!
Also, why are you wrapping your arms around me from behind while using my head as breast support? I mean, it's nice, but I have a feeling the sprout will get crushed and the degenerates around us are already scheming my demise! Are you deliberately picking a fight with them?!
_ Olkan: , how much to switch place?
This isn't the time to show off your "buy everything with enough coins" rotten personality!
_ Shadyna: Sorry~, they are not for sale.
_ Olkan: Tsk. What do you want to know about anyway? My skills are accessible by everyone.
Says the person with [Equipment Manufacturer Origin]…
_ Shadyna: Un, what is [Blueprint]?
After a second of "Are you for real?" expression, the breast-obsessed merchant turn to the dark elven sisters as if asking what the hell they were doing with my education…
Considering I am playing with the most knowledgeable players in the game, only after the lolicons in , it's indeed weird how I am so uninformed in the current meta, or common knowledge in general!
…Am I going to be alright, playing like this?
, that "you are fine as you are" head pat is not helping. And get 's chest off my head before doing so!
_ Olkan: Ugh… fine. It's a skill in [Construction] path. Furniture or building receiving this skill will respawn after destruction, and can be rebuilt directly with repairs from [Enhance]. Its material cost makes me want to cry, but we have no way to rebuild these walls without you, and it will pay off in the long run.
_ Shadyna: Oh~
Maybe I should unlock it to use on the firefly nest back in the basement. Even though there's no chance of it being harmed as long as I leave it there undisturbed, having insurance gives me a peace of mind.
And allows me to do "experiments" on it as I wish. Mad scientist laughing~
_ Olkan: How the hell did you not know it though? You should have gotten it once [Construction] reached level 10.
Ah, so that's why was surprised.
_ Shadyna: My [Creation] is only 9, so…
_ Olkan: …Seriously?
_ Shadyna: Seriously~
Isn't this wrong somehow? Heroes, or humans, or underdogs, are supposed to have weak stats, with strong skills or absurd titles to compensate. I, due to [Absolute Zero] and pacifist playstyle, am crippled in skill levels. My high attributes and easy-to-grind defensive skills make me a good bullet sponge though.
What am I, a last boss on hardest difficulty in an RPG?! I can't even fight back, damn it!
Well, this is partly why I agreed to 's offer. It's not like I get a chance to do so much crafting to grind [Creation] every day. Hopefully by the end it will level up a few times.
_ Olkan: Just what have you been teaching her you gorgeous goddesses?!
Not sure if you are complaining or complimenting them there, weirdo.
_ Choruse: …Unsolved problems for her to destroy by accident.
_ Olkan: Not solve?!
What am I, a mathematician last boss?! And you didn't even teach me any problem!!!
Since we are not doing anything dangerous, I have everyone teach me the soon-to-be-unlocked crafting skills.
For all paths, there will be two new skills unlocked at level 10. The rule of thumb is one improving the crafting result, and the other changing it in some way.
[Reforge] skills, and the rune equivalents, [Decoration], make new equipment with the material equipment's series. A series transfer skill, simply put. Meanwhile, [Art] and [Stylize] create completely new series depending on materials. I already know these skills from 's exposition, so no problem here.
For [Alchemy], there's [Purification] to combine same materials into a stronger version, and [Transmutation] changing material into a different type. Maybe I can use [Transmutation] on my fish pile to solve the material crisis after my excavator got nerf… Sinister snickering~
_ Choruse: [Maintenance] makes equipment self-repairs but it won't fix broken items, and [Overdrive] strengthens equipment's stats in exchange for lowered durability. I recommend combining them to make a healthy stack of same weapons for maintenance-free usage.
I have a feeling those two skills aren't really related to [Enhance], but I guess [Repair] doesn't sound as good. Nevertheless, I don't have enough [Artifact] materials to pull that kind of crazy logistic feat! Totally not because switching equipment mid combat is a pain, un.
_ Melodyn: Similarly, [Capacitor] adds more usages to [Enchant]. [Overcharge] reduces charges to one but increases its power a lot. It sure is useful for certain items, isn't it, ~?
_ Olkan: First strike is the most important one after all!
Ah, the good old long rod, isn't it? Does he even use those anymore? Level cap increased so I suppose that thing is outdated now.
The next gen will be called "Super long rod", probably.
_ Melodyn: That's why you won't last long, unlike .
_ Olkan: GUH!
Welp, next!
The skills for [Cooking] are [Reheat] and [Spicing]. As expected from its name, [Reheat] resets the expiration on food and (soon) materials. I am interested in the other one, [Spicing], which randomly changes the food. These random changes include [Alchemy]-like effects and buff values higher than possible in normal [Cooking].
I have never seen it in action in our cafeteria because its benefits are not guaranteed, and no one wants [Heroic Inspiration Course] to be even more expensive than it already is. It has not dropped in price even though Sateri nerfed it to oblivion!
It may be the silver lining for [Cooking] though, otherwise I have no need for food apart from keeping my virtual taste buds and belly satisfied.
_ Olkan: The remaining skill of [Construction] path is [Engineering]. We use it with weapons to create "furnitures" with offense capability, aka siege engines.
Somehow, the mundane [Construction] has such seemingly-limitless potential with this skill?! Completely changing functionalities of items is one of the fastest way to introduce… overlooked unintended usages~
_ Olkan: With enchanted items, it acts as a shortcut, if you can call it that. You know how some active skills require channeling? They are useless for [Enchant], but with [Engineering] that skill is constantly cast.
[Engineering], why are you trying to take [Enchant]'s job…? Although it is true that channeling skills like [Shared Fate] do badly when enchanted to weapons, as they only work when someone get smacked.
_ Shadyna: So it is a type of enchantment?
_ Olkan: Not really. You are the one casting it, with your MP. The only difference is having furniture bonus on it all the time. See my throne? A cosmetic furniture-armor hybrid with a skill to keep me afloat all the time.
Huh… so hybrid items can be used like that too…
_ Shadyna: But doesn't it consume your MP?
_ Olkan: Always. My MP regen exceeds the consumption though. Being an honest merchant who solves problems with diplomacy and money does not require a constant supply of mana in the first place.
I am not sure about the honest part, but I'm sure you are at least a bit delusional.
_ Olkan: And you'll be surprised at how few people recognize me when I walk on foot.
Oof… that depressed face tells me he knows that by firsthand experience. Too many players want their avatars to look like heroes or protagonists after all. without his seat just does not have any distinguishing features until he encounters a lady with great assets.
…Personally, I would rather he stay unrecognized. He's your typical uncle who loves to tell dirty jokes. Fun to be around, but embarrassing to be seen with!
_ Choruse: When she makes that face, that means you are being judged, a lot.
_ Olkan: What the hell…?
Hey, no mind reading!
[Skill Leveled up: ]
[Condition fulfilled. Unlocked Skill: "Improvisation Lv.0"]
[Condition fulfilled. Unlocked Skill: "Modification Lv.0"]
Just as planned~
…
_ Olkan: That is about it. Thanks for your hard work.
_ Shadyna: Thank you for your patronage~
My wallet is a bit heavier, which is a good thing! Materialism demands tribute as often as possible~
_ Olkan: Hey, are you ladies free? How about we…
_ Melodyn & Choruse: No thanks, you pathetic sorry excuse of a human being.
_ Olkan: Oof! Thank you for your service! By the way, .
_ Shadyna: I'll have to refuse your candies as well~
_ Olkan: Not that! Today's work is only a part of our operation to extend the living area. Depending on how the walls hold up in the next raid, we may build new, actual settlements similarly to 's camp faraway from Tyrel. Can I contact you again to help build the defense again? I will pay you fairly, of course.
Oh~ Customer satisfaction opening up new business opportunities! Let's not forget that everything started with destruction of public property. Maybe I should do that more often?
_ Shadyna: Un! I may not do all of them but I'll try my best!
A big part of the game is crafting and (re)building the once destroyed civilization. Tyrel is nice and all, but nothing beats a cozy house in the forest, surrounded by man-eating ominous creatures of darkness going for their lunch!
…I'm already worried about the future of 's expansion plan… Oh well, it's his problem, right?
____________
On the snowy mountain, a strategic meeting is being held. An elf, two children of mass destruction, and the management of are planning their next attack on the Avitus Caelicola underneath them.
_ Fensen: No good~ It is way too strong!
_ Elri: Well, the boss room barely has space to stand, let alone evasion.
_ Poltea: Uhm… c-can we try digging while another group distract it…?
_ Manager: We had tried it before you came today. It destroyed all player-built items in the vicinity, so that’s a no-go.
_ Torenis: Why the hell are you three here in the first place?! You are not even guild members!
Everyone turns to him with a "You are asking this NOW?" face, because that's exactly what they are thinking.
_ Corpse player: I advise against chasing them out, leader.
While a significant number of players are nodding in agreement, a guard frantically rushes in.
_ Guard: ENEMY ATTACK! And they were streaming as well!
_ Torenis: What's with you and your priorities?!
Completely straight, one could say.
While the guildmaster is busy being the only sane man, the rest look at the outsider trio with a puzzled look.
_ Rogue: Aren't they… already here?
_ Guard: Not these girls, obviously! They are breaking down the walls, so hurry!
_ Torenis: Damn it. Lead the way!
Guild chat is promptly filled with alerts and call to arms, then players start pouring out of the command tent to reinforce the frontlines with great haste.
How they did not respond the same way to and 's intrusion is a mystery, which definitely does not involve past traumas with these girls.
_ Corpse player: Uh… I know this is not related to you all but… wanna help?
_ Fensen: Elri, can we help them?
_ Poltea: They have been treating us nicely too…
Out of fear, the former corpse may add, but decides to keep to himself.
_ Elri: *Sighs* Fine, if the attackers win there's no telling if they will let us roam around. Mister Corpse, tell your friends to open the gate.
Let's not think too much about it, thinks the former corpse as he follows the order from someone not even in the guild.
____________
Outside the walls, a large number of unidentified players are barraging the defense with all kinds of ranged attacks. Among them, a muscular man who looks like he would fit right in with the maniacs in stands out the most, with a red skull flag in his hand.
_ Muscular idiot: Listen here, losers of !
Barely after he announces his glorious presence in the midst of chaos, the gate swings open.
_ Muscular idiot: Wait, what? Aren't you supposed to at least wait for me to finish my rousing speech before surrendering?!
Both sides stand still, confused by the situation at hand. That includes the players of , not knowing who in their right mind would open the gate during a siege.
_ ???: CHARGE!!!
The flag-bearing idiot only manages to catch a glimpse of a pitch black salamander crushing every invader in front of the open gate before it comes crashing onto him as well.
*CRUNCH*
_ Muscular idiot: BLARGH?!
The siege ends five minute later.
--- Topic: Sustained or burst damage? ---
## Shining Knight
As title, should I grind skills with good sustained damage or burst damage? I am a beginner warrior btw.
##
## Nearseeing Sage
Sustain for bosses, burst for mass mob grinding. If you are a tank, I recommend focusing on survivability first.
Do come to DFC Sages shops if you want to know about the best skills for you at the right price. We offer career consulting service! (^_-)-☆
##
## OP alchemist
Why not both? Rapid alchemy bombs ftw!
##
## Mage of Sin
Technically it's burst damage. Bombs have high damage output because you paid dearly for it. Exploding thrown summoned pets fit that better.
It's scary how I don't think I need to explain who I am talking about. (・_・;)
##
## Bountiful Hunter
She needs to retrieve her "weapon" after launch, so while the method was fast, it was only because she is a jet fighter. It's still burst damage.

We are the Unity of Mankind alliance, a group of multiple pure-races-only guilds who stand together against the half-blooded agents of darkness!
Our crusade begins with , which houses several impure monstrosities in their ranks! Follow us as we crush their puny stronghold of evil! [Link]
*This is not to advocate for real life racism. We do limit recruitment to pure races for roleplaying purpose.
##
## Manly Warrior
The racial war ignited by the Halfblood title is here! (>_
As stated by OP, please do not involve real life here.
##
## Nearseeing Sage
A challenger has appeared? Finally, a worthy opponent who won't crush us with impunity!
##
## GoldBar9999
When you put it like that, it's just sad. (;_;)
Also, OP, you should have picked any of the big guild EXCEPT for Phoenix Ashes. Their guildmaster is a beast in large-scale battles.
##
## Flame knight of Darkness
Aaaaaaaand they are dead. Torenis didn't even have a chance to show up.
Why were those players there? Did Illusive Sprout finally assume control of the big guilds from the shadows?
##
## Manly Warrior
Public execution turned into public self-humiliation, again.
You guys are not making this a trend on purpose right?
##
## Heaven Piercer
Not that I blame them for wanting to be stomped by beauties for everyone to see. (*´▽`*)
