《Heaven of the Dream Fantasy - Going for a pacifist record》Chapter 35: Divine retaliation

Totally average tamer Shadyna has arrived~
Yesterday, I finally finished the hot pot in one go! Wait, that sounds wrong somehow… Anyway, I got a boss-tier summon item through hard work and dedication, with a title as expected.
Just as planned, I would have said, if I hadn't been delayed nearly a week because had murdered Schennul in cold blood. During that time the waitress corps defeated the Magnus Bestia in the forest, and (I think) prevailed against the Nox Terminus just one day later. Should we make these bosses threatened species…? They got killed before I could even see their faces!
Let's go to the tavern to brag, un~
Just to be clear, I am not related to whatever causing those guys to scream across the game world, okay? I just logged in, and I'm still in my bedroom, getting burned by the auto-charging [Alchemy] fire shooter!
Today's patch day, so maybe it has something to do with this? Let's see…
…
Ah, so that's why.
I think I have [World Voice] from dismantling bosses… Un, found it.
Joining the agonizing players, I let out a voice that blasts through the whole world.
____________
_ Hessenria: She logged in.
_ Inerin: Her first time using [World Voice] too, no?
_ Vulkerzelianna Merashiel: Her first time, indeed~
_ Inerin: Stop twisting my words, you maniac!
The cafeteria is overcrowded by the confused players discussing the newest patch. Because many mechanics got changed at the same time, most organized activities have been halted until the new meta is sorted out.
In the midst of that chaotic mess, a little girl appeared from a column of light. Few people have permission to teleport into this place, and she also announced her arrival by drilling into everyone's eardrums just now.
_ Shadyna: Hessy, I got nerfed!!!
Jumping over the crowd as she can't be bothered to say "Excuse me" a few thousand times to get through them, crash-lands into a counter, destroying it completely. Lucky for her, property destruction does not count towards [Damage Dealt], so her pacifist status is safe.
As if anyone except the system believed her pacifism in the first place!
____________
Owie… I should have watched where I was landing. What's with this amount of players anyway? There were fewer monsters in a raid than this place at the moment!
_ Hessy: Good day, . What a patch to login to, wasn't it?
_ Shadyna: It was! I can't even use Gelly as a weapon anymore!
The patch notes were vague, but I am sure at least half of them were exclusively meant to nerf me to the ground! Personal grudges, I'm telling you!
_ Hessy: For now, why don't you move so we can fix the counter first?
_ Shadyna: Whoops~
I am still lying flat on the floor. If anyone was to see th… Never mind, probably half the player base is here to witness already!
_ Swordman: Why are you treating her nicely?! This is discrimination! Negligence! PLEASE KEEP IT UP!
…Un, I have no idea if he wants to be ignored or not.
_ Hessy: Shut up, you sicko.
The famous cold glare is at full power today as well huh~
Being a cute responsible girl, and more importantly, the main reason for the poor wooden counter's bad end, I use [Creation] to make a new one.
I blame Sateri for this.
_ ???: Yo, . Do you have any info on the patch… Oh, hello, . Didn't see you there.
Well, excuse me for not being the intended users of these furniture, and for crouching to fix the floor (that was broken by me)!
_ Shadyna: Hiyo~, .
I wave at the trash-talker, kidnapper, blackmailer, murderer and poacher party. Their crime record just keeps growing huh… What's their next crime? Find out in next week's episode, or something like that.
The (rotten) brain of the party, , walks up to us.
_ Maximus: Heh… BWAHAHAHAHA!!! How's that nerf for ya, damn scrub! Can't throw that green crap around anymore can you? SERVE YOU RIGHT, NUB!
Uwa… he really just had to laugh maniacally like a third-rate villain… And here I thought he was on better behavior recently. Nope, he was just waiting for an opportunity to strike!
What can a defenseless girl that is me do against such a magnificent display of might and courage…
_ Maximus: !!!
His mocking words come to an abrupt stop for unknown reasons. Probably not a toilet break, since he is visibly horrified, and begins panicking.
_ Maximus: Crap. Crap! !
_ Tippe: Sorry man, no way.
Shrugging as if it was someone else's problem (it really is), the pervert mage steps to the side as my mentor Elri and the sadistic waitress Mera come into view from behind them.
_ Maximus: You traitor!!!
_ Elri: You have the right to remain silence.
_ Mera: Because anything you say will result in a bigger… Actually, that would be spoiler~
What is bigger?! Ah, no, before that, should I even question whatever they are planning to do to him?!
The two ladies drag the jerk away from the scene. He doesn't put up resistance, or rather, he can't. Red glowing roots has tied all up of his limbs, preventing any funny movement.
[Binding roots] huh. He probably had a chance to avoid it, but [Silent Cast] made sure he never noticed until the effect landed. Stealth warfare, OP as always~
_ Maximus: Wait, let's talk about this!
_ Elri: Denied. You can say your last words post-mortem.
_ Maximus: What's the friggin' point of that?! Let go of me you crazy -censored- -censored- -censored-!!!
Considering how is sighing with a defeated expression, I guess this gentlemanly behavior is not unusual. Even if it couldn't be helped, please at least put in some effort to fix your friend's stupidity!
What do you mean, it's terminal?!
_ Mera: You are being escorted by beautiful girls. It is a position many will die for~
Did… did she just call herself beautiful? I mean, yes, she undoubtedly is, almost like a (rotten) saint even. That doesn't mean she should praise herself like that though!
_ Maximus: Who the hell would want to literally die for that?!
_ Random degenerate spearman: I WOULD!
_ Maximus: YOU SHUT THE -CENSORED- UP!
_ Tippe: I don't mind, actually.
_ Maximus: WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON?!
The screaming continues until they disappear into the material room at the back. Rest in particles, I hope~
_ Hessy: …We are still figuring out the patch notes. Do you want to work here for the time being?
There may be more assailants like as I am very vulnerable without Gelly Punch. Staying here means I have personal bodyguards while being more exposed due to the attention and sheer player density…
Well, not like I should wander around in a dimly lit forest despite having no way to protect myself, right~?
_ Shadyna: Un, I'll do my best!
_ Hessy: I prefer you not do that and destroy the building in the process.
How rude!
…
So my current role is sitting cutely at the counter and chatting with customers to gather intelligence. Hessy banned [Creation] in public until further notice though. Sad cry~
_ Ignar: So [Pet Damage Dealt] was added, and it does remove [Pacifist] titles. Are you going to be fine without being able to attack?
Considering how Sateri had to include a warning not to continue my use of pets as ranged projectiles in the patch note… Yup, that was aimed at me specifically!
_ Shadyna: Definitely not, did you not see what your friend just did?
_ Ignar: Suffered horribly and still screaming behind those doors? Jokes aside, I apologize for what he did. Allow us to assist you as compensation.
…Is it just me or my acquaintances tend to pay with their body whenever they have a chance?
_ Tippe: To be fair, it was ridiculous how summoners get to be pacifists even though they deal as much damage as any fighter. No offense to you, of course. You are more horrifying than any fighter I know.
_ Shadyna: Rude~
Still, that is really troublesome. My biggest handicap in this game is pacifism. If I was still soloing, I would simply focus on evasion and speed to avoid troubles. However, I have pissed off too many people these days. It's only a matter of time until I get kidnapped and Hessy has to strip again!
I would rather have her do that voluntarily and away from public eyes, thank you very much!
_ Hessy: Whatever you are thinking, it's not happening.
I am sorry~
…
_ Dead Tippe: [Shared Fate] was nerfed too huh. 's scepter may make a comeback with this.
[Shared Fate] and [Devotion], to be exact.
[Shared Fate] lost the "exactly 1 HP" requirement to die. From here on out, it's going to be shared damage only. If our combined HP is lower than the damage, the receiver will die as normal.
Only in a game can you treat deaths as mild annoyances if not daily occurrences.
We found that out thanks to 's voluntary sacrifice, with Hessy as executioner. He died with a smile on his face. Un, degenerate, confirmed again.
As for [Devotion], its effect has been changed to exclude attributes and status from equipment. Better survival chance for the caster, but since it's mainly used to min-max another player, it is still a nerf.
The constant MP consumption increased too.
…Will I get yelled at if I tell them that this is my first time knowing about the cost? My attributes had already been whacky when I first used [Shared Fate], so it was never enough to beat my MP regeneration!
Un, ignore ignore~ I don't want to be called cheeky.
Oh, because of how [Devotion] gives the caster's stats to another, the MP drain is on the receiver.
_ Ignar: In other words, no tanking Magnus Bestia.
_ Dead Tippe: Back to suffocating bosses with bodies you mean. Uh, can someone res me?
_ Shadyna: [Resurrection]. Why? Having [Shared Fate] helps, but it's not a requirement.
During the fight against the weird mask, there were close calls, but I never used the 1 HP exploit the whole time. It was more of an assurance in case things went wrong.
Letting out a big sigh, turns to me with a grim look.
_ Ignar: , you are not the standard, no matter how much you think you are.
How mean!
Why is everyone nodding in agreement?! I am just a normal cute girl in the neighborhood!!!
…
_ Mera: [Recall] takes so~ long…
Aaaaaaand the next one is… casting speed, or just speed in general.
Most skills had their casting duration massively increased. Apparently, I wasn't the only one forgetting that MP existed considering how cheap and fast skills could be used. Even at low levels, you could finish most spells in one or two chants. No wonder why higher speed ended up equal to rapid firing machineguns…
Now MSP-min-maxers cast as fast as level 0, and level 0 players cast as fast as Gelly wriggling menacingly before it met me. Welp…
_ Maximus: I'm back. WHAT THE -CENSORED- IS THIS NEW SPEED?!
After being resurrected, he was running around town to verify the updated SPD. Definitely not a buff, judging from his "positive" outlook.
The minimum moving speed wasn't changed, but SPD's effect has been lowered greatly. As a result, cannot outrun a car anymore. How he managed to do it in the past is beyond me, since there is no car in the game.
So, my means of offense were high speed attacks. The patch didn't nerf it. The patch flattened my offensive capabilities so hard my chest looks ample in comparison!
What the heck, Sateri?!
…
Guess what? There's more!
Can I cry now?
_ Hessy: 80 attribute points in total? Not even a 50% increase?
The [Heroic Inspiration Course] recipe that once gave a 200% bonus in attributes now gives a flat 80 points. That's 10 points per type we are currently looking at.
Even if I ignore the horrendously low amount of points, there's a big problem with the new formula: It is good for weaker players, but horrendous for me who have high attributes. That's a 1% increase for me, dammit!
_ Mera: called~ He said [Alchemy] bonus is 120 MAT~
_ Hessy: Low! That's way too low!!!
Pretty sure you are just worried about your [Dark Bolt]'s damage output, Hessy…
[Alchemy] got hit similarly huh. I have no title related to it so it's not my fault okay?
_ Elri: Finally! That was way too long! 15 minutes between meals is too much!
Ah, here comes another nerf. When you are full you wouldn't be able to eat new meals for some time.
That time was two minutes, which might as well not exist, so Sateri ramped it up to 15. Combined with last week's nerfs, the new standard (for the waitresses) will be 80 points for one and a half hour buff.
A cooldown quality was added for [Alchemy] too. Focus too much on the item effect and you may need to wait a minute to use another item. Because it includes potions, some poor sods may really die because they throw a big bomb earlier…
[Cooking] and [Alchemy] have been demoted from "Essential for most non-trivial battles" to "Nice to have but not really needed" status!
…
_ Shadyna: …It doesn't work anymore…
_ Miel: , [Refinery] was supposed to be single-target. That excavator was already abusing the system.
At this point I shouldn't be surprised that my excavator wasn't spared. But still…
_ Shadyna: [Mass Refinery] doesn't work either!
It has been reduced to a big bomb shooter! If I fire it, I will only get a few items at most! Any ores in the vicinity simply get vaporized along with the terrain!
_ Miel: Good riddance…?
_ Shadyna: You are really mean today, !
_ Miel: If the exploit remained, there is no way you can compete against big guilds once the public knows about it.
Sateri could have waited until that time to fix it though… Uuu… How am I going to do hot pot crafting now…?
…
_ Hessy: Welcome back. , you should check your [Ancient Rune Artist Origin] ASAP.
This day just refuses to end doesn't it?!
_ Shadyna: Did something happen?
_ Hessy: *Sighs* dropped by earlier to cry about his [Equipment Manufacturer Origin]. The x3 has been replaced with a x1.2 multiplier and material usage reduction. Attribute effect on crafting received a soft cap as well.
Harsh! I appreciate the compensation, but we aren't factories. I don't intend to mass produce runes to begin with!
…Not counting the equipment to craft more equipment, un.
If that is the case, wouldn't our current gear become some kind of artifacts? Not the quality name, but a literal item made in the past being way too OP for last bosses.
_ Shadyna: Let me check… Welp, my runes' attributes decreased in accordance to the new change.
Dammit Sateri, your defense is too high! If you act like a perfect class president no one will be your friend and you will end up becoming the wingwoman for the protagonist because he prefers the uppity main heroine!
…
_ Fensen: Hiyo, ~
_ Poltea: Good day to you, . Did something happen?
Ah, the innocent souls who are not troubled by the new meta. Sometimes I wish I could be as ignorant of the world around me as them.
_ Shadyna: Hiyo~ It's easier to ask what did NOT happen I think? It's like you woke up and find yourself in someone else's room!
_ Fensen: Oh, just like when Pol…
*BONK*
_ Fensen: OW! Violence is forbidden, !!!
_ Poltea: Your fault for saying too much!
I am really, really intrigued by what she had to say, but the usually shy is having the "Say one more word and I'll erase all evidence of your existence" look so let's pretend that didn't happen. Worse still, she has the firepower to back that up!
_ Fensen: Uuu… By the way, , our armors and skill scrolls…
Welp, they are troubled by the new meta already. Stop polluting the minds of little girls, Sateri!
Yes, I know what they are talking about. The nerfed stats on the runes, and the last changes in the patch: Equipment slots, and skill scrolls.
_ Shadyna: Have a seat. This will take a while.
_ Fensen: Okay~
_ Tippe: …They didn't consider asking you at all, .
_ Ignar: , there are enough bad news today already.
Well, if only someone hadn't abandoned them right after game start…
_ Fensen: Oh, hi, ~ Didn't know you were here!
_ Tippe: Oof, she didn't even notice you.
The slot nerf is disturbingly straightforward. Say goodbye to 16 slots, and say hello to 10 slots. Two armor pieces, two rune pieces, and the rest can be either one. Such a simple adjustment that casually ate nearly half of our gear bonus!
The already equipped pieces were treated as [Cosmetic] quality. As a result, there was no wardrobe malfunction incident. Somehow that hurt the patrons more than the actual combat power cut…
Sateri, that degeneracy should have been nerfed first and foremost.
Skill scrolls… They are extinct. As in, they are not even remotely related to what they used to do. Instead of granting skills, they give a different but easier condition to unlock the skill in question.
For example, you can use [Resurrection] scroll and unlock the skill by whacking the dead instead of using [Minor Heal]. What's this, an action hero shooting the villain in the face to check if he's dead?!
While previously acquired skills remain, all skill scrolls have been updated. The two girls probably bought some and were confused accordingly.
Should I be worried that the majority of the changes were related to me one way or another? Sateri, you can't just make something the apex predator then drop a meteor on it and call that nerf! It's a "deus ex machina" and the reason why I can't ride a dinosaur to school in real life!
_ Fensen: I have a question!
_ Shadyna: Sure, what is it?
_ Fensen: Who's the fairy sitting in the lantern?
How is that related to the topic at hand?!
_ Poltea: I have been wondering as well.
Seriously, are you two concerned about the patch in the slightest?!
_ Shadyna: Our child, obviously?
_ Everyone: PFFFFFFFFFTTTTT!!!
Half of the listening patrons choke on whatever they are eating. The rest choke on their own degeneracy and die horribly. What the heck, guys?
_ Poltea: Our child…?
_ Fensen: Ah.
Lightly hitting her palm with her fist, seems to have realized who this is.
A young fairy chilling idly in the lantern hanging at my belt. Because she's much bigger than fireflies, it's less of sitting and more of dangling on a swing for very tiny kids. The only reason my apprentices could recognize the lantern was because they had seen it beforehand.
The little fairy jumps onto the table by my order. Unlike Yassyl who is all white or black depending on her form, this girl is wearing a light grey armor, contrasting her dark green hair. The curly hairstyle also gives off a young squire in training, as expected of 's child.
Most notable feature on her is the plate worn on top of her body armor. It is filled with glowing runes with the same color as her hair, and shaped like a wedge or pyramid to deflect thrusts. She's a [Symbiosis] pet, so it's not like she would be taking damage though…
_ Fensen: It's Schennul right?!
_ Shadyna: Correct~ But please call her Lutena from now on.
The fairy waves at my apprentices with a bright smile. Whoever could even try to kill this innocent soul in cold blood~?
was intending to blast when she found out the whole ordeal with Schennul by the way. Luckily I was able to stop her. After all, I had done that already. No point in beating the dead hero again.
_ Poltea: Nice to meet you, Lutena.
_ Fensen: Welcome home, Lutena~
While the patrons are melting to the scene of cute little girls' reunion, 's party were terrified.
Very, very terrified.
Not my problem, okay? I am already occupied with recovering from Sateri's meddlings!
--- Topic: Patch discussion - 1.0c12 ---
## Manly Warrior
Due to the sheer amount of changes in this patch, I have compiled a more detailed description based on players' findings. Please refer to it here: [Link]
Short summary: The great nerf has come! ( ゚Д゚)
##
## Mage of Sin
Thank you for your hard work! \(^o^)/
Also cheers to the cafeteria crew for working tirelessly the whole day to figure out the patch.
##
## Heaven Piercer
Dear Sateri-chan, those nerfs…
Please stop, at this rate I am going to enjoy it!!!
##
## Maximus Archery
You are already enjoying it, degenerate. Reported for harassment.
It's amazing to see how many of the nerfs were for Illusive Sprout.
##
## Fire mage of Justice
I would be worried about how she broke the game so hard, Sateri-chan had to make a patch that massive to fix it.
##
------
--- Topic: Illusive Sprout General Topic #3 ---
## Newbie Charisma build
I heard Illusive Sprout just had a child? Is that true? Who's the father?
##
## Bountiful Hunter
LOL! I knew someone would take that completely out of context.
For the question, yes, but actually no. She got a new pet from the first Magnus Bestia Schennul. Pic for anyone interested: [Pic].
##
## StoneHoarder
Ah, so that's how you get humanoid summons. ( ̄□ ̄;)
…Any guide on how to beat a Magnus Bestia?
##
## Nearseeing Sage
Step 1: Be her friend. Warning: Life threatening.
On a serious note, there's a plan for NPC in the roadmap. Humanoid creatures should be more widely available at that time. That's much safer than going near bonus bosses, or even worse, Illusive Sprout.

Curiosity Killed The Imp
A/N: On hiatus (higher priority). The story is planned out but I need to do some rewriting for clarity and cohesiviness. Still very interested in the story though. Aeris is a place of endless conflict. Bloody evolution is the way forward, and the closed fist is the path given. Life is a luxury granted only to the strong. In a tiny corner, at the edge of a volcanic land, is born an imp. An imp no different from any other save one thing. An anomaly in its code. A blip in its creation. For unlike other imps, this one was born…curious. Book Cover by Betty Elgyn: https://www.deviantart.com/bettyelgyn

Path of the Ancients
When humans with the ability to control the fundamental particles of the universe with their minds were first discovered, the age of space travel began in earnest. Relativistic travel faster than the speed of light became possible and humanity moved out into the stars. When it was discovered that these Mages could be turned into effective weapons, humanity turned back to its oldest pastime of war. Hundreds of years later as humanity was on the brink of self-destruction, with its taste for war finally beginning to wane, a new organization was created. The Conclave was formed to regulate all Mage’s within the human colonies. While the colonies maintained their independence, the Conclave’s control over access to interstellar travel made them the de facto power amongst humanity. As the old saying goes, ‘Power Corrupts’, and many people were unhappy with the way the Conclave had been leveraging its authority, not the least of which were the Mages they controlled. One unregistered illegal Mage by the name of Tyrial had made it his life's mission to dismantle the Conclave at any cost. After spending decades working towards his goals alone, he realized he would need the aid of willing allies in his crusade. Tyrial would need all the help he could get learning to work with others, dealing with his own dark past, and handling unfamiliar feelings of romantic interest. Content Warning Note: They are there to cover my behind. I honestly hesitated to put them there at all but I figured better safe than sorry. Gore in particular barely applies and the sexual content amounts to light Cinemax style at best. But, at least now you can’t say I didn’t warn you. POSTED: Currently, this story is being posted to RoyalRoad and ScribbleHub. If you see this story posted anywhere else, please report it to the user "Tyrial" on either of the aforementioned sites. Thanks!

Polly and Drake
Drake has been searching for a job as a personal guard, but wherever he turns, he is kicked out without fail. It's not that he's terrible with weapons, or inattentive. It could be because of his obvious racial heritage. Or because of Polly. With his funds dwindling, the only remaining option is to become one of the Cursed: poor souls that work for the Dragoneye Guild. In other lands, they may be called adventurers, saviors or even heroes, but not in the White Desert. Here, they are shunned and ignored. Depraved people who forsook their humanity for money and fame. With this choice, Drake may not only fall from grace, but also become one of only a few thousands capable of unearthing the secrets of ancient times. If he could get this guardsman notion out of his head. May contain gore, violence, profanity and traumatising content. Taking another shoot at this writing business. I write for fun and when I have time. There is no plan. The story may change drastically from what it starts out - or not. We'll see what happens. Currently, I'm aiming for a Slice of Life with LitRPG elements at a later time.
