《Abominable King》Chapter 199: An Aside, in Which Things Start to Move

In a place that occupied the exact same coordinates as Mortis, yet existed on an entirely separate plane of existence, a single man stood triumphant over all that the world had to offer. He was, by all accounts, most assuredly not a very nice guy. In fact, to call him ‘nice’ or ‘good’ or ‘heroic’ would be akin to viewing the color black as the color white, up as down, left as right, and so on. His control over this world and all within it was beyond absolute, and the many varied races of this world all bowed and scraped before him. The most attractive of the world’s women were his and his alone, nothing more than property at best, and due to his absolute dominion over this plane, they saw nothing wrong with this arrangement.
The men existed as subservient slaves, as did the women, and as did all life in this world. This was his world, and all things within it were his alone. Free will? Independence? Love? Safety? These words meant nothing to anyone save that one man in that world, for he alone had them and kept them to himself as a dragon hordes treasure. Nothing in the world was safe from him and his sinful gaze, nothing in the world was free to think any thoughts that he did not want them to think and love was something that no one had to give to anyone save for himself.
He was the concept of the All-Powerful, All-Knowing God taken to its extreme. All in the world had to love him, had to worship him, had to further his ambitions, and had to view all of his words and actions as something greater than the gospel. For, if you did not, then there was nothing more than an eternity of suffering and torment awaiting you in a place where time itself held no meaning. To deny that sociopathic narcissist what he craved was to condemn yourself to a hell of his own making.
Ironic, then, that despite an entire world being his playground to do with as he sought, with no strings attached or limits forced upon him, he still did not feel that he had anything worthwhile. The world he was in was his bitch, and he had infinitely more control than he had prior to his death at the hands of those whom he had abused back on Earth, but to him, the world was not enough. He craved the chance to go back to Earth and make everyone bend the knee. He lusted for the chance to find those damn sluts who he had chosen to show his affections for yet who had betrayed him so horrifically and make them suffer as no one had ever suffered before.

So, when a strange person whose appearance could not be fully understood made itself known to him and offered him a chance to not only claim vengeance on the one who turned his women against him but also claim that man’s world and be able to go back to Earth while keeping his powers and abilities, how could he not accept? It was a dream come true, and all he had to do was to wait for that man, the one whom he had thrown under a train back on Earth for his actions, to claim the entirety of his world before the War of the Worlds began.
Of course, waiting around for the opposition to get its act together before the war could start was a stupid idea. Sure, he could wait, but where would be the fun in that? The heights of excess he was engaging in inside his world were already so droll and boring, so waiting around for years would be absolutely unacceptable.
So he contacted the entity again and proposed a deal. In exchange for allowing him to make the occasional strike against his foe as he was growing in power, he would have to permanently shave off a bit of his own power and control over his own world. He of course expected things to end according to his will the first time, but that did not happen. Even when he sent armies of slaves into that damnable world to destroy that dumb ex-employee of his, the results were the same. Eventually, the ex-employee was able to deliver a strike of his own back into his world, and the devastation was immense.
The moment that bastard’s power faded, however, was the moment he started his next plan. It was simple to agitate two of the other massive nations in the world of Mortis, slowly pushing them towards war not just with the nearest neighbor of Darksol (which was a dumb name, in his opinion) but also each other. Then, all he had to do was sit back and wait. Surely, they would do as he willed, weakening the world and paving the way for his dominance.

But he overestimated his own persuasiveness, and the Elves and Dwarves did not strike when he had wanted them to, nor did they invade the places he wanted them to, either. Instead of attacking Darksol directly, they instead took advantage of a civil war and took over parts of what seemed to be a poor copy of Africa’s northern areas. This was vexing in the extreme, and he was already having issues with control over his world, so spending much more power would be a dangerous gamble.
That was when the idea of using a loophole came to his mind. While opening a bridge for his power and influence to use was costly, sending things though was much less so. Therefore, to make sure that he could off the ‘Abominable King’ then and there, he just needed to make a super-soldier. It would be one that was powerful in the extreme, easily able to beat that foolish ex-employee of his in a fair fight, and would therefore help him win the war before it even had begun.
Of course, he had to do this in secret. Who knew what that absurdly powerful and freakishly twisted entity that he had struck his bargain with would do to him if it found out that he was using this trick? And so, he began to work in secret, slowly turning a singular person into a veritable walking apocalypse. Kain, as the ex-employee called itself now, would not be able to deal with this new weapon. The power Kain had been capable of exerting against the possessed ‘Hero’ and against the hordes that he had sent through to fight on his behalf would be less than 70% of what this living weapon would be able to output.
There was no way that this could go wrong. After all, it was not as though Kain’s absence from the stage was because he ended up nearly dying, was remade by his own power, gained God-like power, and then had to enter a kind of regulatory hibernation so that he could put shackles on his absurd new power, right? No, of course not. That would be silly and would be a bit of Deus ex Machina that would make anyone with a lick of sense rather disappointed in such a turn of events.
No, Kain likely was still at the same level he was during the time he fired that blast through the gateway and leveled one of his many, many pleasure palaces and the surrounding area for miles in a single direction. His super soldier was made to take that power into account and be decently more powerful than it. So, of course, nothing could possibly go wrong, and it was utterly impossible that the entity he was so afraid of knew what he was up to and was planning to punish him for it. He was himself, after all, and he was the one destined to hold all things as his own. His ex-employee, the one who turned his toys against him and forced his company to remove him from power would pay dearly, and his super-soldier would certainly see to that!

The Ultimate Supporter
Mona stood there, her body has stopped shaking as she stared at Sarah with no expression. “... do I have to set a goal?” Mona asked quietly. “Yes, if you do not then you will not be allowed to play Road Builder.” “...why? Why do we have to set a goal?” “This game is about inspiring people to work hard towards something that they wish to achieve. Don’t you have something you wish to achieve too ma’am?” “... I… do.” “What is your goal then ma’am?” “My goal… my goal is to become the ultimate supporter.” Feelings rushed back into Mona’s eyes as she clenched both her fists hard. “I want to help others succeed. I don’t need to be the main character. I want other people to be the main character.” Mona yelled as tears began to stream down her face. “I just… I just want to feel needed again.” Mona sniffled. Sarah looked at her with a soft expression on her face. “Is ‘I want to become the ultimate supporter’ your final choice?” Sarah asked. Mona bit on her lip as tears continued to stream down her face. She slowly nodded her head. “Alright then… this goal has been registered onto your avatar. You will soon spawn into a town and began your journey.” Sarah smiled, her eyes illuminating warmth to Mona. Mona nodded her head understanding as she wiped away the tears. A blue circle appeared around her as numbers counting down from ten appeared in front of her. 10… 9… 8… “By the way ma’am.” Sarah said. 7… 6… “Yes?” 5… 4… “I am sure you will achieve that goal, and to guarantee that, I give you my blessings.” 3… “What?” 2… “Enjoy your time in Road Builder.” 1… ********* Please point out if you notice any mistakes so that I can fix it. Also, because I re-edit this a lot so the chapters are going to come out very slowly(and because the blue tables take a while to do). Any comments and reviews are welcomed and are appreciated! I hope the internet doesn't expect novel level content from me. I have seen what others on the internet, and even more so this website, can produce and aspire to reach their level. I have no Idea what will come of this, but it should at least be a fun experience for all involve. The writing improves gradually as the chapters go on. I invariably learn some stuff after writing a bunch, finding what works and what doesn't. I definately need to work on paceing and dialouge and flow. Those are the three main goals for now. **Chapter lengths float around the 2300 to 2500 word range as of current chapter Thank you and happy reading.
