《My boring fantasy adventure》Another world (part 2)

The man at the other side agrees to let me in and I put both hands in the fence, with a little jump I´m able to get both feets above it, my body feels somewhat lighter, I wonder if I got a body enhancement in this world, I land in the other side and almost stumbled in the process, I regain my balance and start walking to the man, he´s still wary of me so I keep a safe distance between the two of us, now that I see him more carefully his face is pretty emaciated and thin, there´s bags under his eyes and he doesn't seem very focused.
This man is undoubtedly being cautious with me, I must choose carefully my words so things won't get even more complicated, I shouldn't start the conversation with questions, the thing here is that I came at this place with no idea of what I´m supposed to do, not just that, I doubt I have anything of value with me right now, even if i convince this guy I'm inoffensive I´ll just go from being a possible thief to a possible hobo, maybe I should use the fear of monsters to stay temporarily here.
“I´m glad I could find a town in here, I got robbed in the road and I´m too far from my city to get there by walking, would you know by chance of a place where I can spend the night in exchange of a day of work?” - wow, that came better than I expected,, I'm pretty good at improvising, the man seems calmer now, he takes a closer look at me and sees that I have no luggage with me, I can see his shoulders loose a little while he looks away.
“This town isn't much better than sleeping outside, if you're looking for a comfy bed and warm food you're not going to find them here, but if there's someone here who has a somewhat warm night that would be the smith, go ask him” - a smith! if I can work as his disciple it would be very beneficial, being able to create my own weapons will definitely be a big advantage in the future, the knowledge of smithing should be the first i obtain, mostly because first of all I´m going to need a weapon, and right now I don´t have the means of obtaining one.

While passing by the houses I can see that the town that I´m in is pretty gaunt, I haven´t see it all but I'm guessing there´s 15 houses around, between all these houses I can see smoke coming out of one, I guess that's the place, as I get closer I can see with more clarity, outside the place are some brown and thin things hanging out near the door.
Looks like the smoke is coming from the back side of the place, making a gesture with his hand the man makes me the signal to go to the back and says goodbye, that was unexpected, should I introduce myself? by myself? I´m not very confident in that plan, but I suppose that's the route I have to take, confidence, I must show confidence.
Once I get to the back side I see a slim man of third age hammering a piece of metal that is slightly red, the man looks pretty tired, it looks like his arms are shaking and he's all covered in ashes, It looks like his skin is attached at his thin muscles, even though he seems in better condition than the man that brought me here I can't say he is in a good shape, the man looks very concentrated in what he is doing so I should just let him finish before I start a conversation, I must stay silent while this man gives shape to the metal, maybe I can learn something.
The smoke that comes out of his little oven seems a little weak and the piece of metal that he's hitting is getting thinner and thinner, it´s a shame that from where i'm standing I can't see properly the shape of the metal, the process doesn´t appear to be complicated but I guess I won´t be sure until I try, a few minutes later the man stops hammering and turns to me, I can see that he has a large and partially gray beard, he looks a little annoyed at me, that being said, I doubt he will kick me out just like that.

“Young man, I understand that you don't want to interrupt a work in progress so you don't speak, but having someone looking at you with such intensity can also interrupt a work in progress” - “I´m sorry, it wasn't my intention to trouble you, I got robbed when I was near this place and now I don't have any belongings or enough daylight to go back home, I was hoping I could get a roof in my head in exchange of some work, I said the same thing to a man and he guided me here.”
After he heard my story the man sighs and turns to the metal he was working on, he gazes at me with a troubled look, making me think that I´m asking too much, but since this is the place I got I suppose this man is my best option right now, he doesn´t look away, it´s as if he is analysing me, his troubled look vanishes as he starts talking to me.
“Fine by me, as long as you're here you will work to pay your food and housing, however, don't expect anything fancy because we have none of that here, you will eat what is given to you and you will sleep where you're told to, no complains”
I´m not sure what was this man thinking while looking at me in silence but the important thing is that he agreed to give me a job, sadly I will work for food and not for money, but I guess that´s a decent start for someone who doesn't even know the value for money in this world, I just hope I don´t starve before I start my adventure as the hero who will save the world.

Dungeon Scholar
Girl meets dungeon. What could go right? A story of a good-hearted Scholar driven by her compassion and curiosity. She might be a little combat averse, but um, isn't that only logical? Love me a good grimdark, but sometimes I want to read feel-good fiction that isn't pure action, romance, or comedy. The plot and characters of Dungeon Scholar won't be all happy and fluffy, and the world will be more dungeons and monsters than rainbows and puppies, but overall the sweet moments should overshadow the bitter. Let's say three dollops of sugar for every pinch of salt, with lemon slices left on the saucers? Enjoy. Note: This is NOT a typical dungeon story. If you are here for the dungeon aspect, then fair warning this will seem incredibly slow-burn to you. The dungeon will eventually become the most important 'character,' arguably, or the second-most important narratively, but you might jump out the window in frustration long before that happens. At its heart, the story's core remains 'girl meets dungeon,' not 'dungeon meets world.' (To be clear, this does or will have a plot! It's just the more conventional story-like elements contribute to Rowena Loress's greater story, not the other way around; no conflict takes center stage until it becomes personally significant to her.
