《My power is actually really OP you know》15. Buying tickets

"I would like to buy a ticket please."
"Where is your money?"
"Alright, I will be back later."
I walk out from the ticket retailer office. At the last moment, the ticket seller calls me back.
"You could also book the ticket online. We have a website and an app that you could use. You only need to show your phone on the day of the actual concert. Come back soon."
The ticket woman smiles at me before I left.
"Crazy hobo. Why did you even entertain that crazy person? Judging by his clothes, he can't even afford food let alone ticket"
"Come on Jack. It helps to be nice. Beside, he is harmless."
Well, anyway, how should I proceed with this.
I know, it's time to call my agent. The problem is that I don't even have a phone right now. While I may look terrible right now, I still have some backing from the government. It is the passive effect of my power. It is how I get away with most thing actually. Though I really don't want to abuse it since someone would catch on eventually. And also, I really, really don't want to deal with the side effect of my power.
I pick up a corner and use the pay phone. How people still use this piece of shit these days is beyond me. It is hard to use, unlike the high tech smart phone in my old room that could materialize food order online from thin air. God, I miss technology advances.
"Hello, who is this?"
"Get me a ticket to the Shine Century tour in X city."
"Right away sir."
The phone line went silent and I waited for a few moment.
VIP ticket should arrive soon. I just know it.
I wait at the telephone until seven. Come on, Nessie's concert start at nine, I will be late. Thankfully at 1905, a black car with black windowpane rolls up near the telephone poll. A man in suit peeks out from behind the window and hand me a golden ticket.

"Enjoy your evening sir."
The man says blankly before rolling down his window and the car moves away. They didn't give me a ride but it is probably for the best. I really don't want to interact with the side effect of my power. I really feel bad for the current wife and children of the president, but what can I do, what done is done. I shouldn't linger on the past too much like that.
Though in the future I really shouldn't abuse my connection to the government like that. If somebody smells something, we will all be in trouble. With the ticket in hand, I set out to enjoy my night.
The secret agent doesn't even know why he is doing this. Is the target one of the secret agent? From his look, he does not seem like it but with the state of the world recently, who can say what a person is like.
Super power.
Damn. The man took a puff of smoke. It sounds so surreal but it was the state of the world the man find himself in. Work was easier back in the day. Swaying public opinion, rooting out enemy intelligence are easier than the job he is doing now.
The words was introduced to him "Ability Holder".
Damn, the real world is not fiction, why does something so unreal like that exist in the real world?
It is unknown how many ability holders there are, or what kind of ability they hold so the situation was treated as everyone in the country potentially being an enemies combatant. What more, with the introduction of the "mind" set of ability holder, even trusted men of the agency can potentially be turned overnight.
The situation requires intricacy and tightening of surveillance more than ever.
Ability holder. If the man would choose to have one power, it would be the 'mind' power set. It would be so useful on 'our' side while being a nightmare in the hand of enemies. Thankfully, the new president was a man with a good head on his shoulder.

Who know someone coming from one of those fancy school could be so resourceful.
He was the one who brought this to the agency attention.
The man took another puff of smoke.
He considers potentially blowing the whistle on the whole operation but then discards it. Heh, it was a good thought exercise, how to survive the retribution of the state.
It seems with the introduction of the ability holders, there was an actual leadership, which does not discount the possibility of every ability holders being an enemy combatant at all. Apparently those bastards arrange their leadership position by the hierarchy of power. So all of the monster that is comparable to all the nuke of the world is at the top of the food chain.
Foolish, isn't it better to have the smartest at the top?
However, foolish or not, it is those kind of power that lead the ability holders. And apparently the leader of the ability holders does not like everything being brought to daylight.
A damn masquerade they say. What one sees is not necessarily what is currently happening.
Does that mean the entire populace was already under the effect of a 'mind' power?
It is man like him that asks those guy of questions.
Damn. The man took another puff of smoke.
Sometime he wished he could have an ability just to see what the world really is.
The world of the normal people. The world of the intelligence agency. And then the world of the ability holder.
However, isn't it exciting?
Sometime, the man feels like he was a wide-eyed recruit not knowing anything again. Even now when he was an old man who has known most of the darkest deepest secret the world has to offer, there is still another world for him to explore.
It just excites him instead of frightening him.
Though this mission... it is a bit strange.
Why is he sent on a damn delivery mission? A ticket to a hobo at that?
...Was that person perhaps contact 'on the other side'? If so, it still does not explain why the mission was so important that it involves everyone all the way to the top
The secure phoneline come online.
It was the sender of the mission. The commander in chief.
"Is the package delivered?"
"Yes. Mission accomplished."
"Well done."
Inside the car, there was suddenly a peeping noise. The man's eyes widen. He tries to open the door but the auto mechanism of the car has locked everything down tight.
"Stop the car!"
Both the man and the driver panic, but it was no use. The peeping continues before
BOOM.
Unbeknown to the sender of the mission, in a short moment, a message was sent.
"Man's first disobedience."
An underground network catch the message loud and clear. They decide to go even deeper undercover. Spread out, blend into the populace.
Not a words will be spoken or messages will be exchanged of what they have known that day. Because at that moment, they realize it.
They were in enemies' territory.
Three months ago.
"Ah I'm so hungry. Why did the new guy make the new timeline so shitty damn it. At least make it so that there are free welfare."
The man was soaked and cold. He was hungry. The new world was very cruel to him. No job. No identity. Even his power can't be used because it is too OP.
The man has had enough. His figure fallen into a deep restful slumber. He won't die from the exposure, however, deeply he wishes that the world was the same.
"Ah damn this world. Make it easier for me alright?"
Even though he says it, he didn't mean for his power's side effect to activate accidentally. Deep in his slumber, the world has changed. And what was changed was a new person.
It was as if in history, that person has always been so.
The first instinct that was instilled was
"Don't you dare question me"
Obey.

The Grey Realm, an Erebus Story.
Written by: Staugroan and The Inklets. Edited by: Claudia Adams. In the beginning there was a god, who watched over and made one world his own. Soon after the god grew restless, but happened to stumble on a small world filled with life. This world was named Erebus by its peoples; humanity. The god was so fascinated with this new world that he started to copy it back home, creating oceans, forests, deserts, and so forth. Then the god created life and eventually his favored creations who would be immortals and be the better of mankind in every way-the elves. So often the god had traveled to Erebus that the two worlds became linked by magic and their inhabitants could cross at will. Relations between the races flourished, and a great empire was born in the Grey Realm, home of the elves. But the god once again grew restless, and set loose great beasts that stood at the top of any food chain, the apex. At first the elves met the challenge and fought them head on. But mankind was not so lucky, they died in droves to push back even a single apex. Something had to be done. Elves and man worked together to begin sealing off the worlds to protect mankind, to limit the ways in and out to better fight the apex off and keep their fellows safe. The ritual had adverse effects the likes of which neither the elves nor man could predict; the sealing of the worlds started slow, but the magic had never been done before, and in their ignorance it spread to completely cut the two worlds off from one another. It ejected the apex, and other magical being back into the Grey Realm, saving Erebus. At first the elves were content, they would find a way back once the apex were dead and gone. But the seal had done more than keep Erebus locked away. The powersource of the seal was magic itself, from both worlds, and it consumed it all greedily. The elves, weakened without their magic, crumbled into ruin, and the apex were free to hunt the other races of the Grey Realm. Two-thousand years later a strange phenomena is occurring and magic is slowly returning to the Grey Realm, and tears open that allow passage to Erebus. Thu'lain and a few elves must make the journey to fallen kingdom of the elves Anosora, in the hopes of reclaiming what was once theirs. They must face their nemesis the apex, and survive not only the species that have turned against them, but a terrible being left behind by the god to kill even the apex. Uch'l'thein, the faceless terror.
