《The Archdevil's Descent》Chapter 3.

Yu regained consciousness and awoke to a terrible headache. The air was heavy, soon he could see the cause. — Not far from him stood the demon. Impossible, how could it walk free? He hastily turned around, his eyes scanning for his 'friends' and Guren. It didn't take long until their terrified forms were found. They were trembling uncontrollably, unable to meet the gaze of the fiend.
He saw, Yu saw how Guren was struggling to gather himself and face the demon, surely, he would stop it. But then it dawned on him, the demon's mere presence was enough to force everyone to their knees, there was no telling how far his powers reached. He witnessed how Guren's demonic sword aura was crushed under the pressure, and Guren fell over coughing up a mouthful of blood.
What has he done? What had he unleashed upon the world? No! Everything was not lost.
Yu gathered his resolve as memories of his family resurfaced, the poor children were massacred by that hateful vampire. He would pay, no… all of vampire-kind would pay for what they had done!
Yu raised his head in time to see the demon's twisted expression as it looked down on him. Still, he couldn't waver now. Not now, when everything was on the line. The outcome of this battle would decide the future, not just his but all of humanity.
"De- demon! St-stop! Whatever you are doing stop it! Don't hurt my friends!" Yu cried out, and to the bafflement of all present the raging inferno dispersed, as if it were never there in the first place.
"I guess it would be a problem if you all died… I'll have to control myself to the utmost extent it seems..." The demon's every word struck despair into their heart.

Demiurge suppressed his aura and adjusted his crimson suit before glancing around the room.
"Pathetic. To think that you lost consciousness just from that."
Yu ran over to check on his squad members, and he was relieved to find that Shinoa and Mitsu were still breathing. The others, Yoichi the one with the cursed bow, and Kimizuki the one with the double swords were taking labored breath as sweat trickled down their forehead, eyes glued to the devil.
Guren had a pained expression as he eyed the cruel devil. Guren glanced over at Yu who was also a mystery to him. How did the boy command such a fearsome monster? This demon was on a whole other level, but if they could control it… Wild imaginations flashed before his eyes, as a smile slowly crawled itself onto his face. Yes, this is perfect, - he thought.
…
But ultimately all dreams must come to an end, and Guren was yanked back to reality. He watched as the demon wholly disregarded Yu's cries as he desperately tried to command it to cease all actions at once. He ordered the demon to disappear, and return to wherever it had come from, and yet the great demon remained. A cruel smile plastered on its face it spoke, sending a chill down their spines.
"How naïve. Did you actually believe that I would obey you? Me?! The archdevil Jaldabaoth, the Demon Emperor and supreme commander of the 7th circles of hell!?"
Guren watched as Yu tried to refute his words, whoever his whimpering voice was lost in the winds rising all around the room. The demon's form kept growing, and the flames lit alight once more, this time with such ferocity that it threatened to boil the very atmosphere.
"I serve one master, and one master alone. — Ainz Ooal Gown, — and yet… and yet you would dare presume to have dominion over me?! Blasphemy!" The demon roared, as claws materialized on his hands before in a swift movement, he ripped a hole through Yu's chest and pulled out a still beating heart. It was such a quick motion that it took a second for everyone to realize what has just happened.

Guren could hear now the faint whimpering of Yu.
"Bu- but w- we've had a… a deal." Guren watched as fire ignited in the palm of the devil, and an ancient looking parchment materialized.
"Oh this?" The fiend asked playfully. Yu's eyes dilated unnaturally.
"Consider our agreement void, still you have freed me from my imprisonment and for that I shall thank you."
Guren saw Yu's lifeless body fall over, while terror incarnate turned towards them.
"I shall allow you to live… for now." The demon said before disappearing in a torrent of flames.

But your prospects in this Malthusian world are limited. Johanna Milton and her friends have an answer: delve into Ancient ruins, avoid Changed beasts and mana pockets, and salvage Ancient materials, collectibles, and trinkets to sell. It pays well if you avoid the perils of the Ancient world. But when they find the skeleton of an Ancient, their lives take a strange turn. Suddenly, Talents straight out of fantasy novels become theirs. While they try to make sense of what happens, eyes turn to them, to the four who seem to break all rules. Or are they merely following them? Because, in the Beyond where he's spent 150 years waiting, one dead Ancient knows the truth. Douglas Moore has played those games often enough when he was alive to make sense of the System that rules the Changed world. He can no longer act on his own, but he has access to the Interface. And four people for which he can bring whatever it takes to face the world. Change is coming. The Changed Ones is a slow-burn litrpg fantasy trilogy (Ancient Bones, Ancient Books, Ancient Bonds) set on Earth, 150 years after the RPG Apocalypse... which mostly failed. It is an homage to the venerable ancient RPGs of the Golden Box era, the Baldur's Gates, and many others, offering adventure where You must gather your party before venturing forth. Keywords: LitRPG, realistic setting, low-leveling, post-post-apocalypse, fantasy earth, slow-burn, secondary POVs, female primary MC, team adventure, worldbuilding. Trigger warnings: casual swearing, adult innuendo (no explicit scenes whatsoever, though). Oh, and potentially a bit of politics. Bonus content: a Litrpg Easter Egg hunt. With lots of eggs across the book, some easy, some hard to find. Current score: 6/20 (20 eggs, 6 found) Publication schedule: on hold until September for book 2.
