《Master of All Trades》Kindred Spirits Part 2

After the new friendship between Rapheal and Infernus was formed, a familiar smell entered Rapheals’s nose and ended his trance. He remembered the events that brought him to meet the midnight wolf he now called his friend. It felt odd that the gruesome deaths of the smiths which brought upon fear and distress were swept away as soon he found similarities with the manic wolf.
There was this underlying feeling that the insanity that plagued the wolf had somehow rubbed off unto him. As of now, he felt calmer with the idea of death and the wolf did not seem as wild as before. However, now he felt more grounded in reality as the high of the adrenaline began to run off and clarity guided him to where the foul smell emanated from.
Raphael slowly walked to where the barn stood tall, now reduced to cinder and ash. The smell of the burnt wood made his nose itchy, even more so for his wolf companion that began to overlay himself in a light flame to disperse the smells from reaching its snout. As Raphael slowly moved away from the debris and rubble he quickly found the still-warm corpse of John that was in the darkness of night. If not for the purple flame Raphael would have mistaken him for just some other piece of rubble.
Raphael felt a bitter taste enter and leave his mouth, he simply continued to search among the large burned pile. Minutes passed by without any results, which both gave relief and tension to Raphael's heart. However, soon he came upon another unknown mass, which Raphael quickly dugout. At the end of unknown mass was the body of Samantha Smith, just as badly burnt as her now disfigured brother.
“Damn it.'' Raphael let out a loud sigh and disappointment were strewn on his face. ‘What is the matter Rapheal.’ The midnight wolf was more curious than concerned.

“I wanted to save this girl. I know why you attacked them. Hell, we humans do it all the time.” tears rolled from his eyes and sniffles escaped his mouth. Even though Raphael held memories of his past life, he was still a young boy. He was just a young boy who had befriended the smiths and shared memories with them. Even though the killer was next to him, he could not bring himself to despise him nor seek vengeance.
Even though he knew the wolf for barely a few hours, it rendered the relationship between him and the Smiths as something small in comparison. “Infernus, please help make some graves for them.” he pointed with his chin.
‘Graves?’ The wolf was dumbfounded once more with the young boy’s vocabulary. “Holes.” Raphael’s tears had dried up and used his hand to depict what he wanted. ‘Ahh.’ Infernus grew excited as he was about to do one of his favorite pastimes, and it will help his friend at the same time.
Infernus showed off his masterful digging capabilities and had dug more than enough graves. He then went to help Raphael move the bodies and place them into their respective graves. Very quickly Infernus covered them up with great speed, while Raheal placed grave marks made of sticks to represent them as graves. All members of the Smith family were buried next to each other, besides the cinders of their homes. Raphael quietly recited one of the verses passed down at the church.
Infernus quietly listened to the chanting of the boy lost in the trance of wonder as he tried to understand its meaning. Then when the boy finished he turned around to his wolf friend with clear eyes free of worry. “Infernus, I think I will have to see you tomorrow, people will get suspicious of you-especially considering that the fire should have altered everyone.”

‘Will you come back tomorrow then?’ The wolf nudged its large head under the boy's chin. “Yes, you don't have to wait long, I will be back later.”
‘Then let's meet each other when the sun rises.’ The wolf turned around and its flames began to spread around its fur. Before Raphael even realized it, he was seeing off living flame rather than a wolf who steadily walked into the forest that had been burnt from its fire. Raphael spread until the vibrant flame was no longer visible, then he turned to go back to the church. Where he waited until he could meet his kindred spirit once more.
