《Master of All Trades》The Beast Part 1

He could feel in his bones. Something was calling him, urging him to continue making way in the direction of the loud howling and horrific screaming. Blood pumping and sweating, Rapheal ran through the forest trail towards the outer edge of the village. With every step forward, that raging feeling only intensified.

Stopping in the shade of a towering tree, Raphael held his arm onto the tree to support his now breathless and panting body. Gasp. Raphael had to take a moment to catch his breath. But that was a mistake as he suddenly flinched back from the heavy odor. The smell of iron dominated the air.

"This smell…..It's blood." Raphael was no stranger to the particular smell as he had experienced it multiple times in his younger years. But, this was insane. The smell was so strong. Raphael had trouble keeping himself from vomiting his breakfast, even with his nose now covered with his hand. He walked cautiously towards the pale blue building now in view. From his knowledge, only the Smith family lived out here with their livestock.

Making his way to the front porch, Raphael kept his senses on high alert. When he made it to where the door was supposed to be, the sight only made his eyes widen in surprise. The front door was completely destroyed along with a majority of the wall. What hell happened here? That was the only thought surfacing in his head as he made way into the now ruined home. Everything was in disarray with wrecked furniture and slashes across the walls.

Despite the state of the home, Raphael felt a jolt of pure shock run throughout his body when he saw the kitchen. Well in particular, what laid on the kitchen floor. There were three motionless bodies in a pool of blood. Walking to and turning one of the bodies, it only confirmed his fears at the moment. Bobbie Smith was dead, along with his father and mother. It was unbelievable that they were dead. It was only yesterday that he last saw them at the service at the church. Who did this?

Raphael suddenly shivered, struck by an unknown emotion as he attempted to comprehend the scene of death before his eyes. Hah, hah, hah,..... Raphael tried to calm himself down, but the feeling only increased in potency. His body began to lust for blood, with no reasoning behind the change. It was such a strange response for a person that has never once seen death, but Raphael couldn't control it. This sudden feeling was raging throughout his body, and his mind was clouded with ideas that were not his own. Thoughts of unknown origin began to crash with his own and jumble his mind into an utter mess that urged him to spill more blood. He was no longer a boy with curiosity on his mind, but a predator on the prowl and with the intent to kill.

"What's wrong with me?" Argh! A terrified scream snapped Raphael out of his seemingly possessed state. Right, he didn't see any traces of the other Smith siblings when he came in. That scream seemed to have come from the barn. Quickly moving his feet, Raphael blasted through the back door outside. Making his way towards the bright red barn in sight, he scanned through the lifeless forms of various pigs and goats littered across the bloody field.

Reaching the barn, with all his strength, Raphael kicked the doors open. What greeted him was John Smith, who laid there torn apart. Growl. And Samantha sat in fear, cornered by what could only be a beast. Perhaps, kicking the door down was a bad idea, as the beast had now switched its attention from the little girl to Raphael.

Raphael could only gulp in fear and anticipation as he stared into the big ferocious eyes of the wolf-like beast.
