Chapter 7
The inn erupted in yelling, the townspeople trying to escape as fast as possible while the recruits and there Commander trying to gather themselves outside.
Escape the City
You do not have the power to repel the attack rather there is not even a good chance to make it out alive. The more people you help save the greater the reward also valuing the people who want to live compared to ones fighting will increase this (Hidden) the people who are personally saved by you will always remember and see you as there hero and will more likely follow you
Difficulty: X Progress: Accepted
Alright now I have to balance getting as many people as possible out while also staying alive luckily I already know two
Orion thought of Keira and Quintin, more than just completing the quest, besides Brandon they were the closest things to friends and Quintin was just nice to him. The problem laid with the Commander, at first he gave orders and his men gathered outside but now seemed too worried to fight after looking around. The attack the felt inside the inn had been from a single arrow and destroyed the top half of the building next to them.
I would act him to but he needs to at least slow them down so I can get the people who have been kind to me out
Orion decided he needed to push the Commander so that he could gain time. Orion ran in front of him and both of his arms. Before his arms were pulled away Inspire was active.
“Great Lord please you must save the people, show the people of this town the power you command as the only one able to do so!”
The Commander was confused at Orion’s sudden outburst the when to unsure then seemly swelled with courage over the course of the few seconds it had taken for him to speak. For a moment he was not even sure it had done anything but a few seconds later orders were at last being yelled out
“I want my lieutenants around me now! I need to show these foolish townspeople who holds the most power here”
Suddenly a dozen men with outfits similar to the commanders but duller came around him. They wore steel and the Commander wore highly refined steel but none wore War steel since it was seen with wave son the material itself. It seemed his plea worked because it had been a close choice between to fight the invaders or run. What made the difference was the inspire ability Orion used on him was the rare variant making up for the fact its lower ranked.
“Move to the river gates, Warriors in the front and casters in the back. Grab any gear you need on the way”
Close to a hundred men started off passing Orion who was on his knees, they looked down on him in more ways than one. He did not care all that much, he was going to live. People were running in all sorts of directions, the arrows that destroyed buildings still not stopping. After the troops left Brandon, Rodo and Aus came over and pulled him up.
“I know you have many things to say but now is not the time, the three of you need to get to the mana district. Keira is there and see if you can find a man named Quintin”
Orion explained, he wanted to make sure at least she was saved and Quintin had treated him well. With the Town falling apart he could now go and get something but they still needed to split up in two groups.

“How are we going to do this? Are things are in a separate building then where Keira and that guy are” Brandon asked to the group
“That’s fine, me and Rodo will go this way to grab our things sitting in the room and find people. That means you should have Aus guide you to the mana district since he knows the town better than you but you know what she looks like.”
Everyone agreed with the plan and Rodo had one more question
“Where should we meet after?”
Orion had not really thought of that but it was Aus who answered to his surprise since for the most part it seemed his character was to remain quiet.
“There is a tree that is quite large that children after play at, Rodo should also know of it”
“I do, now the four of us should get going there is no telling how long the troops will last”
The two groups split off in opposite direction with Orion’s group heading in the same direction as the troops. As he and Rodo ran they noticed a number of people on the ground, pushed out of the way when the Commander came through. They say people trying to help those injured and others stealing the items that feel besides them
You get to see what people value when they are pushed so what does that make me?
Soon the both of them where in front of the Inn, Rodo started to head in the direction of his forge but Orion stopped him
“No you should go into the inn to grab our things, that way you can stay in this area and gather people whoever you think. I was holding back while we ran and I believe just me going to the forge and getting what you requested would be best”
It was a bold face lie and not a very good one at that. Rodo would of course know what he wanted and gather it faster than Orion and it was most likely Rodo could run faster than him. The one thing he had going for him was Rodo’s connections of the people of the town and wanting to save them because of that.
“Yes you may be right, there are many people who I would like to make sure are saved. There are only a few things I want you to collect”
Rodo quickly told Orion the things he wanted from his forge which had his home in the back. He stressed to not risk his life if it became too dangerous and that they should meet at the tree instead of where they were now.
“There is the woodshop owner, please make sure you look at for him. Also tell the people it’s our group that’s saving them, I don’t want them to think someone else did or they forget who’s helping save their lives”
With that even if he did not directly rescues them as long as Rodo and the others are in a party and he in turns tells them hopefully it should count
The Quest grew more valuable the more people he saves, the question was how indirectly he could. Orion reached the Forge. The sounds of the battle coming disappointedly fast. Based on what the archer had done that was now single handily destroying parts of buildings the effort of the troops was quite good.
Now where is that case?
The sole he was putting himself in danger was for the case with what Orion suspected to store a sword based on its dimensions. Luckily it was in the same place as before on the table standing next to the wall. Orion quickly pulled out his own sword and used strike on the lock. When it broke he smiled, sweat rolled down his head. Ever since that night in the forest with Claire he was desperate for more power

I don’t care if it comes down to lying and stealing, what happened to me will not happen again
Orion tore off the bandages of his neck to reveal five recently healed scars where her fingers had dug into his neck. Quintin had used some minor healing to finish so he could have taken off the bandages earlier but did not. The reason being he did not want others to see.
This weapon will give me what I seek
Quickly throwing the top of the case up he rushed his eyes down he rushed his eyes to view the sword. Orion’s heart dropped in an instant, his arms now hardly shaking.
“In…inspect”
Mold Sword
A sword made of unknown materials is it can even be called that. The ‘sword’ is in the shape of the weapon but it’s the mold shape when metal is first poured. The metal seems to have no special qualities.
Damage: 8-10
Is this why Rodo had it? So what he could refine it and make it into something
For a short time Orion just looked at it, crushed over the fact he went to all the risk for no reward for his actions. Remembering the list of things he was asked to bring he realized the case was not one of them. Rodo seemed to indirectly confirm it was worth little to nothing. With that in mind he still resolved to not leave empty handed.
“I came here for it so that’s what I will do, if this was a special order then once finished it could be much better then what I have now”
Orion unbolted his cloaked and wrapped the Mold Sword in it, then taking two long leather strips off the workbench wrapped it from his back and around his chest. After using his bag collect Rodo’s items and ran out to see a sorry state. Men in black emitted an array of colors from their weapons as they cut through what was left of the defense forces of the town. There were even some that ran into the town.
This place was lost the moment the Edians attacked. Now is past time I also left it
Where Orion went was not straight for the back gate but to the mana district. Four people he cared about were there and even if just in passing would enter to see if they had already left. Running so fast he tripped on more than one occasion it was his limit and yet the black men passed by and out of sight within seconds. Seeing the district made his worries come to life. A Black Man was being attack by multiple mages and in between the fire was Brandon holding a small boy.
“This is bad… it’s not even working”
Even with half a dozen mages due to how powerful the Black Man was it seemed he was walking through running water and not constant magical attacks. What they needed was a more powerful attack but if they had that it would have already been used he guessed
They need a bigger or stronger or…
Orion looked to the ruins of the tower and noticed that while much of it had now been cleared there will still large stones close by. An idea came to him using the stone of the tower. Now what he needed to do was to get the attention of the mages. Due to the large area the spells effected he could not walk directly to them so he looked around to see who was closer to them. Good news was finally upon him when Orion saw Keira in the one the buildings watching over the events, he waved in her direction until she noticed him.
“Keira, Keira! Get Quintin’s attention” Orion said then repeated.
The second time Keira seemed to hear him and disappeared form the window but returned a short time later holding a crystal. At first he did not know what it was for but then Orion watch her adjust it in her hand until it reflected a beam of light into Quintin’s face. He jerked back and looked up at Keira who then pointed at Orion. After finally noticing him Quintin stopped attacking and created a wall of wind to protect Orion who quickly ran across before the wall failed a few seconds later.
“What is it, do you have an idea because this is not working”
“Then it’s a good thing I do”
Quintin smiled liked Orion had first seen him, excited at the thought of turning things around.
“So what should we do? Tell the plan our mana will in short time run out”
Orion pointed to the ruins of the tower
“Throws those until he no longer stands”
“Gladly”
Quintin got the other mages attention and started to throw the stones at him one after another. Due to the sheer weight and object that size hitting him the Black Man was pushed back. It seemed to Orion that Quintin was doing the most, considering how often he used the spell that was expected.
“Everyone should throw the largest stone now, while he’s pushed into the wall” Orion shouted
All six mages then pointed their hands to a stone as tall as a man, it moved slowly at first then quickly grew speed by the time it made contact and pushed the Black Man through the building causing it to fall on top of him. The mages fell where they were, Brandon and the boy finally stood up and Keira came out of the building.
“Are you alright and who is the boy?”
Helping the two of them up he looked them over. They were not gravely hurt but some burns could be seen.
“That man… that thing killed his parents right before him so I shielded him then the mages started to attack”
The boy looked to be ten years old with short hair. His cloths dirtied and his expressions lifeless. Orion looked around for Aus but did not see him so he asked Brandon and Keira who were unsure
“I asked him to look around for people then leave so he should be at the tree” Brandon answered
The three of them helped Quintin and the mages get up and left the town at their best speed. When Orion went through the gates the quest updated
