《Survival Story Of A Swordsman In A Post-Apocalyptic World》Chapter 3

"Oh... Souji… huh. Where are you from? I'm from the settlement of G-10 In city G. But… You're powerful enough to slaughter these many level one monsters in an instant. Where exactly did you come from and what are you doing outside the dome of your city? Wait… you're clothing. I haven't seen such clothes before..." Alexander then flew a few more above ground putting more distance between them.
*Is he a monster? No. He looks exactly like a human and even a humanoid monster shouldn't look like that. I'll still have to be cautious about him, though.*
While Souji simply thought. *This person is so chatty. He's irritating.*
"I'm... not an enemy, don't worry. I simply helped you."
"Then tell me where you come from. There's a chance that you're a monster."
"Goddammit. What if I told you I'm from an entirely different land?"
"T-that is impossible! The kingdom is the only existing settlement for humans since the monsters took over the world!"
"I just told you the truth. If you won't believe it, then don't. But I've been stuck in this forest for a day and am hungry. So please take me with you. I'm not an enemy, I assure you."
"O-okay... But…" *His weapon easily cuts through the monsters' flesh. Is that a superior catalyst?* "Fine. I'll take you with me. But first. I must get rid of the level one horde right here. So please help me or else they'll attack our settlement and our dome will be damaged."
"You can count on me. What exactly should we do?"
"We just need to kill the alpha. It should be at least level three at this rate. When the alpha is killed the horde will flee so we just need to find and kill the alpha. We can't fight the whole horde since they are made up of over a hundred monsters. I'll roam to find the alpha and we'll take it down. Here." Alexander then tosses him a metallic device that looks like a wristband.

*What is this thing?* "Hey, wha–"
"Put it on your wrist." Souji simply followed and had put it on his left wrist.
A blue holographic screen then appeared above Alexander's device and after tapping and tweaking on it he spoke.
"Hey, test. Can you hear me?"
"You're talking here too!" Souji's baffled with such a thing. He's really surprised that such a small thing could let others communicate like that.
"Oh. Good. It seems to be working. Keep it on so that we can talk while searching for the alpha.
"Yeah. I'll do just that."
"Okay. I'll go. Don't die or I'll not be able to bring you back."
But before Alexander could fly away. The ground began rumbling violently as if something large has been walking and later the surrounding trees in front of them had been all pushed aside by a large hand. It was that of a bear. Later then it had shown its whole body. It was a large bear with blue zigzag spikes on its back resembling a lightning bolt and tattoos on its body with a similar feature. On its chest is a three embedded with blue fur covering its body. Eyes full of rage and violence. Ready to gnaw on them at the moment's notice.
"It's the Alpha." Alexander mumbled.
"How can you be sure?"
"It's the strongest monster here right now. It has to be."
"Why? Can't there be any other stronger monster here?"
"You're right that there might be other monsters. But a horde is different they always follow the strongest and are mostly together. An **Alpha** is chosen right at birth it is a rare biological feature. They are much stronger than normal monsters or even capable of human thinking. They had the right and power to control monsters lower to their level that's not yet seized by other Alphas to their will. There are not many Alphas in the world and it is rare to find let alone slay one. But I am certain this one is the Alpha. Even if not. Then at least we get to take a pretty good amount of raw materials from this one to sell."

"Don't lower monsters submit to stronger ones even without them being Alphas?"
"No. They don't do that. Only Alphas are capable of doing that."
"Okay. We must take this down then. So that those other pests would leave us, right?"
"You're right."
"Grrrhh… Humans…" the bear Alpha then roared as the two advances towards it with the intent to kill.
The bear also responded by smashing the ground while releasing lightning bolts around from his hand as he does so. As the lightning travel across the forest and almost caught Souji. He simply sliced the ground and the lightning that would have passed through him and zap him didn't hit and dispersed underground.
As he's preparing to advance more. A largely concentrated fireball struck the Alpha, burning a sizable amount of its blue fur.
"Let's try finishing this one quickly!"
"Yeah."
The bear roars out of pain and soon calls down few thunder strikes to kill the one who inflicted the pain. However. The wings keep him protected even when they hit. The wing deflects it so that it would hit the ground. But it will not be able to do this forever. There is a limit to how much the wings could take it, or rather, the **Phoenix** strapped on Alexander's back.
"Crap. If this goes on. The Phoenix will be damaged!" Alexander then molded a barrier made out of the fire around him. With each new strike of lightning bolts. The barrier slowly would fall apart.
"Oi bear. That's enough." Souji then disappeared from his position and appeared right in front of the monster he quickly drawn out his katana to sever its head but it had already risen its arm just a very few moments before to shield itself from the attack. It counters him with its other hand to punch him but when its arm stretches out. Souji escaped whilst mid-air. He appeared behind it and slashes its neck. Unfortunately and he did not know why is that his blade doesn't pierce through much into its flesh. "What the?" Souji then retreats to recover himself.
*My katana easily shredded the other lowly monsters to pieces. But this one… is different. It withstood the strike and I can't cut much deep into its flesh. Fuck, what should we do? This one is really different and is much stronger… Also, the lightning... Should I just strike harder? Will it even make a difference?*
"Move!" He heard from the device and instinctively moved out as an incredibly bright light illuminates the entire vicinity. An enormous fireball then came hurling towards the monster. "This is the last bit of magic i have aside from what I need to keep the Phoenix working! Please let us kill you!" The fire is at the very least three times as big and as bright as the first attack he made to the Alpha. As soon as it came in contact with the bear that is already in a shielding position of its arms with lightning bolts coming down to try to stop the fireball it explodes so large that it seems a bomb detonates into the forest.

How The Weak Live
This was a rough draft. Quite a meh one. The newer version is These Games of Ours. ---------- Lucious is deserter among many, living by dagger and beggary. Argento’s thirst for knowledge is endless, as is his belly. Kora is the perfect soldier, yet her sword grows dull in monotony. Formally known as the Empire's legend, the Captain is now stuck in stagnation. The Gods, grown weary of human deeds, have decided to indulge themselves in a different way. -------------- THE 7 REALLY IMPORTANT STUFF Clichés shall be avoided like the cancerous tumors they are. The world shall not spread its pink butt cheeks for the main character’s convenience. No character shall be thinner than one slice of white American cheese. No female character shall serve to highlight how overpowered and fabulous the main character is. No villain shall serve to highlight how overpowered and fabulous the main characters are. Grammar laws shall be upheld sometimes. I, the author, swear not to be a prick. I, the author, swear not to go away without warning. If other LitRPGs are like Skyrim, then this is going to be a combination of Dark Souls and Total War. Don't expect action for the sake of action. Be warned, this is a slow novel. Read the reviews to see if this novel is a decent fit for you. Disclaimer: I do not own that gorgeous cover art.
