Chapter 1

Commencement

Nyeth Alari, the capital of Thalore, a city on the far south. Surrounded by pristine plains, abundant with rivers, vigorous and optimistic blue water. Small villages were spread amongst the wide green. The weather wasn’t too hot or cold, there was a mild gust of wind. And a radiant sun, a scorching yellow ball among the blue sky.

There stood a solitary figure, far into the distance. With broad shoulders, and with masculine features. His body and faces was covered in black robes swaying in the wind. And on these swaying robes was an emblem, it was an oriental symbol, (死). The figure also held a magnificent sword, like no other, its handle was engraved with same oriental symbol. The cross bar was made with extremely rare metal, Adamantine, it was a beautiful pale white substance, and the hilt was made of the purest of golds. The blade itself was not like any other blade, as it was nothing but pure light seeming to emerge out of the hilt, like light radiates from the sun. More and more figures emerged out of the green holding different weapons, some great spears which were so sharp they could pierce to the sky and behind the figures were gargantuan men. The military soon heard of the figures, and responded by sending two of their elite units of fighters, and they also had the legendary Invictus on standby. Invictus was particularly well known amongst the citizens of Nyeth Alari, for it was one of last golden age relics that could be used. It was made of technology lost to this world, a spectacular blend of magic and modern day artillery. Invictus was a suit of armour which was colossal in height and mass, but despite its mass, it moved extraordinarily fast – it could even fly, and when it did, blue light radiated from its feet similar to the sword the figure was holding. When you entered the cockpit of the armour, it was full of hovering screens of light, displaying data which was unreadable amongst the commoners. Its external appearance was like a suit of armour but plated in hard dull metal (iron) sprayed in worn out white paint. When it was activated, it eyes glowed blue, and its body came to life, as it moved, mechanical noises could be heard. When soldiers tried piercing the machine, the attacks could be simply repelled by the push of a button. Its power was feared amongst the world, it was a pillar of hope for the failing government and economy of Thalore. As the soldiers walked out of the grand walls protecting the collapsing city. The mighty Invictus flew over them. And in Invictus, was General Shoji, who came to discuss terms with figures. The General was an oriental looking man, with angular cheekbones, and hardened skin from years of military training, he had unnaturally blue eyes with a white pupil, and he had a very narrow nose, and was very well groomed. He gave off an aura of expertise and tranquillity, and when he drove the Invictus he did elegantly and systematically, as if he was a computer executing a program. As they approached the figures, they raised a flag with the same symbol. And the Invictus landed directly in front of the soldiers, General Shoji exited the machine. He wore a light piece of armour made of iron sprayed in worn out black paint, he also wore white buttoned shirt and a formal white vest with golden stripes going diagonally from the right side to the left side and when the intersected they created cross’s similar to the letter ‘x’. And on the shirt and armour, was the military emblem, the word Thalore in ancient script.

He wore crinkled white pants tucked into his worn out boots. The figures are startled as he pulls out his only weapon, his small pistol like gun, he instantly takes out its’ mags and throws the gun far off into the distance – a sign of peace. ‘I’ve come here, to know what you’re doing here – if it is war your looking for, than you have it, but we rather it not come to there, I’d much rather –‘ The general is interrupted by screams of horror and pain. General Shoji, had prepared for an attack, and in the blink of an eye the mighty Invictus strikes. But the attacked is repelled instantly, they have mages on standby he thought. The general scanned the area where his soldiers should be, but all he saw dead bodies covered in red. What the hell are these guys? In the background, he heard explosions, and when he look backed, the city he vowed to save with his life, was in rubbles. Before the war had even begun, he’d lost. His family, his friends, had died in a matter of seconds.

The figure holding the sword approached the general. He struck his blade into the general chest, the sharp pain along with a warm burning feeling. ‘Who are you,’ the general managed to gasp – as the figure pulled out his sword, he answered ‘I am an agent of the divine selection, preparing for the coming of a new era…’ The worshippers of Ravana cult had revealed itself to be an opponent to be reckoned with, the nearby kingdoms were alerted of such danger. There was a spiral of floating chairs, in the palace of the Zektik dynasty. A heated argument was underway. The nobles were discussing the new problem that is… the Worshippers of Ravana Cult, who had infiltrated and took over the republic of Varthox in a matter of seconds. Many came to the conclusion that no one was to be trusted, and that the cult had ties to the government. The only thing didn’t agree on, was what exactly the ‘divine selection’ was.
