《Demon Contractor Unknowingly Becomes Less Of A Jerk》Chapter 5:Treating The Toy

"So brat, how old are you?" No answer, huh? Actually no, now that I that I've gotten a better look at her it's obvious she's extremely malnourished, there don't appear to be any bruises on her face, hmm chances are those filthy humans forced her to live like an animal for a while so she's likely not going to be very responsive. I should check her body but if her temperature drops anymore she'll have more than some minor issues when becoming an adult.
"Hey brat, I can't have you dying just yet, so do me a favor and sit still while I make us a small hut." I can't use any of Sylvia's mana since it's likely to cause an extreme and possibly violent reaction from her, so for now, I'll just use some of my own mana and collect some more of the demon kings blood to fill up after. I release some hot air from my hands to melt the snow around us, turning the ground us into a mix of water and loose dirt. Despite the cold puddle that formed around us, my new toy continues to stay still, not moving an inch as her body loses more and more color as the cold water continues to spread.
"Alright kid, come on we're moving to the trees." I grab the kid, collect as many coats as I can from the corpses, moving the kid to the top of a nearby tree after. "Alright, kid I don't follow Sylvia, demons can use almost any magic without having to swear fealty to one of those stupid gods, so don't try to kill me okay. Good." Unfortunately, I have to use a minor regenerative spell to thicken the leaves and raise the branches to make an effective support for the coat cover I plan to make so there's a chance that brat might try to force me to commit suicide. Thankfully she doesn't so I grab her and place her in the center of the tree-top, wrapping her in the least bloody coat. Since she's so small I manage to completely wrap her body in the adult-sized coat.
I begin preparing first raising a few branches and putting them together into a small spiraling spike and light the tip on fire, thicking the lower portion of the branches so that the fire lasts a long while. Thankfully I don't have to wast any mana trying to defend against any of her spells. I use a little over half my mana to forcefully collect the smallest branches straightening and combing them, making several arm thick branches out of wrist-thick branches. Eventually, after several minutes, I successfully turn the upper half of the tree's top into a circular spiked cage. I begin propping up the coats, making sure the small spikes pierce through and latch on. There was only enough cloth to make a roof. So after checking on the kid, making sure she was just sleeping instead of being dead, I collect the rest of the coats of the adult human corpses and continue covering the small dome I made. It's a little difficult since the blood the coats have absorbed has hardened slightly due to the heavy winds, with some of the coats have wide holes.

After forcing some more mana out of my body, I heat the blood on the coats and plaster them on the dome, making sure everything but the door I remembered to make half-way through the process, was covered up, effectively stopping any of the cold wind from entering the small hut I made. "Why do those worshippers get to use as much magic as they want, but demons, who can use magic without having to swear fealty to some old freak get restricted...I swear I'm going to figure out what's responsible for this and kill it...First comes leviathan." Nevermind, for now, I should make sure my new toy is alive and kind of well. Nothing makes a better cover than an apostle of Draumr and I refuse to give it up. Her body has gained some color, but she hasn't improved. I may have heated her up too suddenly, I have to be very careful and keep her recovery slow and manageable so that her body can cope. For now, I should collect some fruits and water, but I can't exactly stray too far away from her.
"Expect hell when you wake up, apostle, or not a filthy human shouldn't force me to do so much." I activate my eyes, pushing them as much as I can, and begin looking for nearby prey. Everything around me becomes visible, as the trees and ground become nothing, allowing me to see a vast ocean's worth of bright lights. The closest animals would be a group of foxes nesting under some tree's a couple of minutes away. I once again make sure the kid is asleep, and use the smallest possible amount of Sylvia's mana as I can, to forcefully grow some Fleisch Verlet, a purple tear-shaped fruit with weak skin, and plenty of juice, on the branch wall.
I pull out the demon king's contract and ask for some blood, once again receiving enough to make a large palm-sized gem. I bite into it receiving enough mana to refill twice, and remove one of the softened branches below me, molding it into a bowl using a minor regenerative spell to soften, harden, and compress it. I remove one of the many fruits growing from the branches that make the wall and remove the pointed tip, pointing it directly at the large bowl I made, and begin to gently squeeze it filling the bowl with a light blue juice. I then remove the skin and chop it into fine bits using the small knife I made to skin the Lupcaines and toss it into the juice. I repeat this process three more times and fill the bowl.

"Now how do I go about making the kid drink this?" I can make a small tube out of a branch and Slyvia's mana but it'd be very dangerous as I don't know how her throat is. It seems that she's been kept with low amounts of food and water for an extended period so her esophagus is likely to be puffy and dry making it near impossible to safely swallow solid foods without choking and will likely be extremely painful to swallow anything whether it be a cool liquid or warm porridge.
"Alright kid this is going to hurt but you'll have to work through it." I freeze the juice in the bowl and break it apart into a powder using the knife, tossing it away as soon as the ice has powderized. I lift the kid up and slightly raise her, making sure her head is in the right position, and begin to scoop small portions of the ice and place it on her tongue, making sure it melts in her mouth and only her mouth so that the beginning of her throat can get some moisture. Eventually color begins to return to the girl's mouth and face as the nutritional juice flows down her throat, the coats wrapping her body warming her. Her body twitches in pain every now and then as her mouth begins to grow numbingly cold as the juice flows into her stomach.
"This isn't a fruit you can find in Matria and it's a lot more varied in its nutritional value compared to the fruits grown here so her already weak stomach will have to deal with something it's never been exposed too. Consider this your punishment for making me use all my mana girly."
Eventually after growing more fruits and feeding her more juice night falls. Suddenly a bad smell fills the hut. "Look like she wet herself." It should be expected that she'll wet herself after drinking so much liquid. I remove the outer coat and remove the coat she was wearing and see she's wearing a pair of dirty fur patched hide shorts and a torn sleeveless shirt made from the skin of Lupcaines, it seems that a majority of the fur was removed from her clothes as, unlike the adult's thick clothes the fur on , the small patches on the little girl's clothes are only a fingers length at most. She seems to have recovered enough for me to leave her alone so I go ahead and remove her clothes so I can wipe her down using one of the leftover coats I snatched from those suicidal humans use the coat I stole to wipe her down, and wrap her in the dry adult sized coat I tossed aside.
"For now I should find the nearest Lupcain or Canenane and make something for her to wear. If I can find a wolf that would be much better." I activate my eyes once again and successfully find a pack of Canenane's a few minutes west of our current location but no wolves, but what should I expect, it's not like the common wolf grew like the rest of it's kind. Not hesitating I use the rest of the demon king's blood crystal to summon a sheet of floating ice and fly to their location as fast as possible, finding myself right above them in less than five minutes. Since I can't damage their fur I decide to just send them flying.
I jump down from the flying sheet of ice into the center of the Canenane's pack, filling my leg's with Sylvia's mana, causing trees to explode from the ground around me the moment I land, sending me and the many beasts flying high into the air. Unlike the beast I have a flying sheet of magic ice to catch me, so I come out fine, unlike the injured beast resting on the tall trees. "How exactly should I deal with this?" The trees raised using Sylvia's mana are twice as tall as every other tree in the forest so chances are when the human's corpses are found and the trees I and Sylvia either changed or grew swarms of priest are going to come here in hopes of seeing their god, which means I should probably get out here, but then again I wonder how the priest will react to the mana I borrow directly from Sylvia, for now I guess I'll just bring the brat to a good enough health then investigate a bit, then come to a decision then.

Embers in the Ash
Four ordinary young people from four corners of the Earth wake up on a hill in another world. Here, their very presence is a crime against the Gods. On the fringes of civilization, life is often brief and always violent, but in the Empire's Heartland, implacable hunters seek to rectify their blasphemous existence with Blade and Fire. To return home, they will need to adapt to a place where their life will be earned in steel. But what will they be ready to sacrifice for their goal? Will their flame flicker out like so many others before them? Or will they thrive as Embers in the Ash? Hello, and welcome to my first fiction on this site! Embers in the Ash is an epic fantasy adventure story that aims to span quite a few chapters (I hope!). To set expectations, this isn't going to be a LitRPG or power fantasy-style story. I'm aiming for a fairly grounded story set in a fairly high-fantasy world. I hope you enjoy it! For this first month of publication, my aim is to give you, the reader, something to really bite into. I will be releasing a chapter every day at 9:15 AM EST (13:15 GMT), as well as the occasional double chapter (which will always be announced by a post-chapter author blurb). Check in fifteen minutes after the first chapter's release! After this first month of publication, the aim is to go for either a weekly or bi-weekly release schedule, depending on the sort of time I can reliably dedicate to writing. Either way, settle in for the long haul, and welcome to the story!
