《Demon Contractor Unknowingly Becomes Less Of A Jerk》Chapter 3: Found the humans!

The beast corpses tell me exactly where I am, as the wolf fox mix beast in front of me is unique to Matria, the kingdom of eternal snow. Their pure white fur is incredibly thick, especially around the upper portion of their legs and their body seems to be more muscle than fat. Each beast is either older or younger than the other, the size and length of their necks and snouts being the greatest indicator. I look at their teeth just to make sure I'm correct. Their frontal teeth are thick and their fangs are long and pointed, Each tooth except the fangs has a rounded tip and each tooth follows a pattern of short to long.
"Since I used some of Sylvia's mana no beast will come within sixty feet of this tree for the next few days. I guess I'll take a nap, can't let such a good opportunity go to waste." I strengthen my legs and leap to the nearest treetop, using some more of Sylvia's mana to make a semi-comfortable resting spot, making the leaves grow wider, thicker, and more durable, adding some wisteria flowers so I can sleep a little better, making the perfect plant bed. "I'll go ahead and skin those Matri Lupcaines in the morning."
I close my eyes and start humming a slow lullaby, enjoying the purple wisterias weak but strong scent and the weak chilly winds, hoping tonight's dream will be a good one. Seeing as the gentle tune slipping through my lips wasn't helping I decide to add some lyrics.
"A calm mind, its energy spent he wants to sleep but he simply can't.
The sun becomes the moon and the clouds become the stars.
Everything changes and rests for the night so why can't he?
Surrounded by calming scents and cool winds he struggles.
Maybe he should just hit his head.
Or maybe he should eat a strange flower.
But he decides to simply rest on his special bed."
Slowly my mind begins to weaken and my consciousness begins to fade as my incredibly beautiful, gorgeous, and inexplicably sexy voice spreads throughout the forest.
-Moving To Dreamland-
I open my eyes and stand up, finding myself in a rather familiar place, seeing an endless sea of golden pillars reaching beyond the star-filled sky my head has conjured. I move my right hand above my head and begin to drag it around influencing the inky black star-filled void above my head. Where my fingers move purple ribbons appear and wiggle if my hand moves down so do the ribbons, dragging the bright green star-like lights the ground level. [Why hello there Solmein how have you been?] Suddenly a giant beast appears in front of me. Its name is Draumr, one of the sixteen ancients as well as one of the four gods. Its body is long and slick similar to a serpent, though instead of glistening scales its body is covered in gray, white, and black checker and eye patterned feathers. A pair of bat-like wings extend from its back, suddenly all that exist in front of me is the giant bird's head and its six gorgeous crystal-lined raven wings.

"We're in my dream you can use your voice." I look up at its dull eyes, expressing clear annoyance with its stubbornness. [Will you give me more of Sylvia's mana once again or do you have something else to offer?] The damn bird, of course, wants me to offer something so I guess I have to oblige, though it is a little annoying that every time I sleep I have to gift this bastard something. "I have some tears I collected from the demon king will that be enough?"
[More than enough!] As if responding to the beast excitement the pillars begin to glow and the lights floating around us begin to contract and expand. "I have ten drops in my right coat pocket." My personal subspace can contain a limitless amount of contracts but nothing else, so, unfortunately, I can't just carry around whatever I want. [Good, I will need your body for a moment. I shall return in a moment's time.]
"Of course master."
[No need for that master servent talk. As long as you fulfill your side of the deal I will continue to provide my services.] The beast closes its eyes, and suddenly my mind shuts down. An unknown amount of time passes before my thoughts return to me. The beast appears in front of me, its beak wide open, its head moving backward, its monotone eyes shining. [I can send you to another three hundred dreams and can curse a few more people. Bring me a few more tears and I can convince a group of my followers to go on a murderous rampage.] He pulls his hed back, smiling as he enjoys the pure mana he stole form my shirt pocket.
"I'll save it for another time."
[Do you wish to leave already?]
"Is it morning yet?"
[It is now.]
"I'll go ahead and leave then. See you again!"
[Goodbye.]
As soon as the beast finished speaking the golden columns began to rise and the lights began to dim, the purple ribbons flowing around us disappearing as the void above us collapses.
-Back To The Forest-
A familiar scent suddenly appears, digging into my nose, slightly reducing the massive head-ache I'm currently experiencing. I begin to rub my head, further messing up my hair and slowly sit up, struggling to support my body with my arms. After several minutes the headache vanishes, being replaced by a pleasant sensation of clarity and warmth. Slowly I open my eyes, trying my hardest to ignore the blindingly bright light, and see the same snow-filled forest I was wondering through last night. Today the clouds aren't as thick allowing more sunlight to pass through and annoy me.

I stand up and stretch ignoring the large amount of snow falling off my head and onto my knees, jumping down to the ground after cleaning my self of snow. I gather the frozen and crushed corpses of the beast I killed and begin processing them.I dig my right hand into the snow and cast a simple heating and freezing spell, turning the snow into water and the water into ice. Then I smash the small ice block I created with my fist and cast a simple molding and compression spell, using the heads worth of ice shards I make a centimeter thick knife. After a few minutes and several failed attempts to salvage the crushed organs and damaged fur, I manage to collect enough materials to make a simple covering and mask.
"Bones crushed and organs splattered it was still so difficult to properly remove anything. I wonder if they're bodies were reinforced my Sylvia's lingering mana." Where ever Sylvia goes there's a noticeably large increase in the overall quality of the land. Whether it be an increase in the effectiveness of the soil in raising plants or increasing the mana density allowing higher grade plants to grow. Nobles welcome her and hunters fear her as the animals that devour the blessed plants grow in strength and the animals that successfully devour a small herbivore after Sylvia's visit experience an explosion in strength. She is the leader of the four great titans and the ancient who reigns over the land, bringing a great blessing wherever she steps.
After making a makeshift Braccea, loose trousers made of animal skin and a pair of wrist protectors from a combination of the Lupcaines skin. To further add to the disguise I create a makeshift spear with the most intact remains of the Lupcaines hindlegs, using magic ice and tree bark to reinforce it. "With this, I can act as one of those Rakasha worshipers. Now all I need is to make a helmet out of the Lupcaine corpses." Rakasha worshipers are known to wear clothes made from their first hunt so I should pass as one with the slightly damaged clothes I made.
I look to the pile of bones and organs in front of me, my eyes twitching, seeing that anything that hasn't been completely and utterly squashed to powder, was already turned into the hunter's clothes I'm currently wearing. Seeing the ugly white cloth with fur longer than my hands attached to my legs and arms I feel a sudden urge of sadness knowing the best way to blend in with the humans is to toss my treasured suit. From a slightly weak-looking noble to a lanky and weak looking warrior...karma's doing its work I guess. I bury my treasured suit inside a nearby tree and once again begin my walk north, thinking about what would be the best way to kill humans in the snow.
"The most fun would probably be to feed their leader to the Lupcaines and replace her with someone I raised. There's also the option of creating a fake disease by poising some elders with some plants raised by Silvia's magic then moving onto the children, assuming they don't have a good enough doctor I can just slowly scare them into murdering each other with the fake disease. The issue is I would have to keep myself unknown until the halfway point and that just wouldn't be as fun would it." I really want to go the divine wrath route with some of my borrowed mana but I can't risk any of those religious freaks finding me. Oh well, option number one it is then. Eventually, when the sun reaches the sky's center I manage to find myself in front of a large wooden fence. Men and women begin to move out the entrance to the forest each person holding a large ax in hand, seeing this I ignore the village and decide to follow them. Immediately I run away and hide in the treetops. Hopefully, I can get a better understanding of the village through the strength of its people. I must never underestimate a human female again.
Due to the mana spread across the world by the four leaders of the sixteen divines many creatures have been blessed with powers beyond their original species capabilities. The elves have gained longevity and the ability to cast spells, dwarves have become immune to sickness and have gained an abnormally strong body, and humans have been given the ability to strengthen their body giving them better reaction times, a greater strength, and increased speed. The humans have essentially become the barbarian tribe of legend in terms of combat ability so even a weak human child can pose a significant threat to a demon soldier if their mana absorption and production rates are high enough
on rates are high enough

Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!
