Ehren Yard...
The time is still a while before the dawn come. Therefore, the sky upwards is still dark without the sun hanging in there. While the temperature out here can't be called warm at all, even when this is summer.
In the mid of this supposedly calm situation, a loud thud is heard in the middle of the yard. As usual, its the time for our sparring session of our young master Yoro and Chad.
That thud voice just now is the sound of one of them fallen to the ground, because out of stamina. And there is just no way that person who fell is the battle freak Chad.
Chad: "Ceh, already gives up? Such a shame" with a ridiculing tone, he approaches Yoro who is lying in the ground on his back. Yoro's arm is stretched to his right and left. And on his face, Yoro is wearing an expressionless look, all while he stares at the dark sky upwards.
What was Chad said just now is only passing through one of Yoro's ear before escapes from the other. It is because right now, he seemed thinking about something on his head, but yet nothing at the same time, and Chad there doesn't like this type of calmness at all.
So, he stabs his sword to the ground and gets on a knee beside Yoro. "...hey, sup?... You're somehow...become quieter than the usual, young master" like he wasn't sure himself, Chad is clearly trying to start the conversation with him. Even if he is failed badly for it.
Yoro: "...nothing...there is nothing going on at all, Chad" he lies through his teeth right there, all while he doesn't care if Chad can see through his lies or not. At least this way, Yoro can back to his own thought for some time.

That quietness is continued for some time, that is until Chad there can't hold it anymore and try to open a topic for one more time. "Hey young master, I've already seen your new sword. It seems you've got a nice one for your first own sword, huh? Congrats" He said with a grin.
But Yoro didn't respond at his words at all. He just continues to lie on his back there while staring at the sky, not sure what is exactly he looking at, out there.
But unfortunately for Yoro, Chad here is a known person for his stubbornness. And now, he is really persistent to try and starts one or some topic between them. Opening his mouth, he then said: "Hey young ma-"
Yori: "Chad," but before he can finish, he is instead interrupted by the very person he wanted to talk to. Yoro turns his head at him and stares at his eyes. "You've heard about the slaughter in the city?" He said with mixed feelings in his voice.
Chad: "hmm?... Yep, I've heard about that. Why do ask?" Curious, he asks Yoro back without realizing his weird expression.
Yoro: "Then, have they found the culprit behind that all?" He said while diverting his eyes to the side.
Even if Chad sees Yoro is kinda weird right now, he would just disregard it to the side, before then answers him: "no, there is too little clue over what was happened. But again, even if they found out one or two hints over there, the victims of this whole mess is just one gang" Raised his body up, he then dusts himself up and pulls the wooden sword he stabbed to the ground before.
Chad: "well, don't you worry about it. All this incident just looks like a normal dispute between some gang. Maybe they all were ganged up on this pitiful one gang and destroyed it completely" said Chad while practice swinging his sword. A very basic practice for all swordsman.

But if what Chad just said is true, then the one who investigate all this incident were actually hidding the truth from the mass. Yoro can say this because he already seen it with his own eyes
In all of the gang base he checked before, all the people there is killed. And oddly enough, they were killed by the same means. Yoro is suspecting this all were done by just one person. But as unbelieveable as it is, Yoro himself is a prove that doing all this masacree alone is actually possible.
It's very unfortunate, but he can't find the person who did this all and his reason for doing this. 'Sigh... initially, I want to test the limit of this cheat of mine, but it seems fate has chosen that this wasn't the right time for that' sighing dejectedly, he get up and mimic the move Chad used right now.
Yoro: "by the way, Chad-" still swinging his sword, Chad giving out "hmm?" sound as a sign he is listening. So Yoro continues: "How is...how is your feeling when you killed people for the very first time?" Yoro said with a mixed feelings.
And hearing his sudden question, Chad there couldn't help but to furrowed his brow at how random is this young master thinking for a topic "My first time at killing people?...hmm" he stop swinging his sword as he places his hand at his chin in a thinking manner. Closing his eyes for a while, he then said,
Chad: "ah!-" placing his fist at his palm, he conclude: "I can't remember at all!" He said with a voice full of realization.
Yoro: "wha!?...are you serious right there?" Hearing how dumb it is, he couldn't help but said with unbelieving tone. His stance there is become unstable for a second before back becomes solid once more.
Chad: "yep, why the hell I want to remember something as troublesome as that?" He said without turning his head.
Yoro: "...I think I started to understand how your mind works, Chad" shakes his head in hopeless manner, he added in a low voice: "and I envy you because of that..." He trailed off.
Chad: "I am sorry, what?" Can't hear Yoro clearly, Chad turn his head to asked him and stopped his swinging.
Yoro: "nothing, I just want to asks if you want to investigate this incident with me?" Yoro also stopped swinging his sword and stare at Chad. Seeing him wanted to deceline, he then added "I think some adventure is waiting for us!" His tounge feels weird after saying that, but whatever.
Chad: "adventure? I am in! Wait, I mean, I can't leave you alone investigating while a killer is free out there!" With convincing voice, he pat his chest in a reliable manner. "I must protect you as the honorable Ehren guard!"
And Yoro there can't help but to shake his head in amusment at this muscle head antics

An Unwilling Monster
In the city of Kholakel, the highlight of the year for the upper classes is the annual monster pacification of the misty woods. Ostensibly it's a culling of the monster population to prevent them encroaching on urban areas, but it's an open secret that it's actually treated as more of a blood sport, the participants competing to score the most kills. After all, why else would the politicians and elites of the city bother to attend personally? Given the intense competition and high-tech weapons and gear in use, one might wonder how the forest has not yet been completely depopulated. As this year's culling approaches, a group of unfortunate children are about to discover the answer first-hand, but thanks to an unexpected twist of fate, one of them will score the chance to play the role of the hunter instead of the prey. This was an attempt at writing something darker than my usual fare. The story I actually ended up with isn't as mean to the MC as I'd originally planned out, to the point that I'm not sure the story deserves the horror/grimdark tags anymore, but this is still an unfair world with unambiguously evil antagonists. Chapters are short to start with, but get longer once the first act is over.

The Badboy Prince Just Can't Resist
"Why are you so nervous?" "I'm not.""Your pupils dilate every time you look at me. What are you so worried about, sweetheart?" He asks me, his warm breath fanning my ear. I rolled my eyes, and he took that as a response. "Why are you so afraid of me, Annalise?""I'm not," I repeated in a firm tone, trying to stop my body's temptation of leaning into his touch. "Then why can't you think properly while so close to me?" Damien's lips were now grazing my ear. His strong arms expertly pull me in, arms crossed around my waist ready to spin me back out. I despised the way he made me feel when we would dance, as if I liked being under his lead- it infuriated me. "I can think just fine." I spin myself back out, trying to take control. He chuckled,"This is why I find you so intriguing. You want to resist me, and I haven't found somebody like that before. It's quite frustrating, having someone who doesn't bend to my will."The nerve of this man!I scowled,"I'm not just going to follow your every command. Being a Prince doesn't mean you gain-""I could give you anything. A title or land, and any other girl-""I'm not just 'another girl' who will bend to your standards. I don't have time to pamper your ego as if you own the school.""In fact, I do. Thank you for reminding me sweetheart, sometimes I forget." Arrogance laced his tone, sending my fury into overdrive."I am nobody's sweetheart, especially not yours."His laugh sent vibrations through my body,"You have never failed to amuse me. I think we should get to know each other better." I felt his lips against my ear curl into a sly smirk.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*Cover by @afranticdreamer#4 romance #1 royal 9-29-2020#1 kingdom 3-30-2020#3 king 4-3-2020#1 princess 4-13-2020#1 new 5-14-2020-All rights reserved -Kick back and enjoy a book with a little bit of mystery, magic, humor, and don't forget romance
