《Legend of Xeor》8 The hundred trees

2nd Day of Gods year 188
They had now entered the Elven forest, a sea of trees now surrounded them and first of all Grour took them with him to his house.
(Xeor)-Is your Village Far away?
(Grour)-It's not really a village
(Xeor)-If it's not a village then what is it?
(Grour)-You will see when come are near it
(Xeor)-Whatever... Shit what is that?
(Grour)-Welcome to "the Hundred Trees"
In the horison he saw countless treehouses, made of wood and rope, some on the ground and some were even hanging from the trees. It was a whole city where many different beastmen species coexisted, he even saw boarmen and catmen, but no lionmen at all. On his way Grour fell on a Rhinoman who was as big as him.
(I might not have said it sooner but Grour looks close to a werebear as he is as hairy as a bear, most bearmen are like that, cause of that its hard to distinguish a bearman from a bear)
If this was Xeor's village they would have had a fight but the Rhinoman Ignored him and went on his way.
The roads (well more like gaps between houses) were crowded and the sun was setting Grour and Fifi let them stay at their place, a large hut at the base of a tree.
It had three sections like rooms as in the center was the tree and thin wooden walls seperated the rooms, there were no furniture but there were some strange wooden bowls where some fish and fruits were held.
They went to sleep without eating but the next morning after having breakfast Fifi took them to see the elves, while Grour went for some business that he had to do.
The elves could always be found near their sacred tree.(A magic tree that can sustain a whole forest under it's care and causes forests to expand rapidly in Allastar)
Seeing them Xeor mistook them for humans and was about to attack them but an arrow froze him in his tracks, Fifi bowed to them and so did Kihina and glori, only Xeor didn't and stood alone, in front of the elf guard who upon seeing the Hawkman's wing was injured, cast a small healing spell from his arm and hundreds of small lights surrounded him making his wing like new. Xeor still wasn't convinced they were gods.
(Xeor)-Are you a god, human?
And the elf answered him in flawless beastman language

(Elf)-No we are nor humans nor gods young beastman, we are elves, a more powerful race than yours and devoted followers of the gods of Light and life
(Xeor)-So they were all lies after all, there are no gods here, and they probably never existed to begin with
(Elf)-Do you really think you can make them angry at you with just that, if you want want to learn about the gods or their true power why don't you try learning magic like Fifi here, although she's just a priestess she has a small link to Althea
(Xeor)-Is that even possible for me to learn magic?
(Elf)-All is possible, but you better go to Fifi's race for that cause beyond this point only death awaits any being but elves.
Glori left first riding on a magic wind the elf created for him, as for Kihina the Elf told her how to reach her tribe safetly but she preferred to stay for the winter and went back with Fifi and Xeor.
The next day although Xeor and Kihina overslept, when they woke up Grour had brought many fishes for them to eat, and they all talked while eating
(Grour)-You are brave Xeor but you should know that the gods exist and the only way to cast spells is to do their bidding like Fifi here
(Xeor)-Then what bidding of theirs is she doing
(Fifi)-I am a priestess of Althea the goddess of health, who heals the wounded or soothe their pain, I help all who are in pain
(Xeor)-Then Is there a god of war for me
Fifi Smiled
(Fifi)- I don't know but we could ask the Head priest at the Temple of Althea, it's a little further
Only Xeor and Fifi left as Grour had a job to do and Kihina wasn't at all interested in Xeor's quest of finding "Gods". The temple was a small stonehedge-like structure made of normal stones. Many young and older beastmen sat there listening to an old Beaverman and as they went closer he stopped the preaching and smiled at them.
(Beaver)-Fifi I haven't seen you for around a year, everyone was afraid you were taken by those brutes and killed like many others, even Grour who went to look for you has disappeared
(Fifi)-You are half-right but we were saved by this brave young man
(Beaver)-May Althea heal all your wounds, ah how curious a lionman, I thought they secluded themselves in the milewoods, but what brings you here

(Fifi)-Xeor this is Denim Davis the head priest of our temple of Althea he is the only beastman to have seen the godess and he was granted her favor as well as the ability to cast the healing spell(Heal light wounds)
(Xeor)-I didn't come to make friends, I want to know if there is a god of war and how to earn his favour
(Denim)-There is no such god but the one responsible for it would be the god of destruction, known as "the Destroyer" or the goddess of misfortunes
(Xeor)-Tell me more about "the destroyer"
(Denim)-I don't know much, however earning the destroyer's favor is impossible, as he wants everything to burn and die, no mortal creature could gain the destroyer's favor
(Xeor)-Whatever tell me how do you cast spells and I'm out of here
(Denim)-You should come tomorrow at dawn and you will learn what you seek cause today the theme of the sermon Is the beginning of the world
Xeor left before Denim started preaching again, Fifi would have stayed if she hadn't to escort Xeor back.
Xeor couldn't wait the next day he asked Fifi many questions most of which she didn't know the answers for and lastly they went to sleep.
The next morning even Kihina and Grour came as Xeor had piqued their interest with all the talks about magic. They were the first ones to arrive at the temple and Xeor waited for a few minutes until Denim arrived and the Seminar begun.
(Denim)-Magic as some of you might already know comes from the fifteen gods, four of whom rule over the four elements composing our world, Earth that houses us, water that quells our thirst, air that refreshes us in the summer and fire that burns at summer.
(Xeor)-How are you sure they exist?
(Denim)-You believe that magic exists no, so why no the ones who give us that power, so where was I, oh yes, the next four are the gods of creation who shaped our world.
(Xeor)-Can't we just skip to the important part?
(Denim)-And what might that be young Xeor?
(Xeor)-What is magic and How can we use it?
(Denim)-Okay just for you Xeor I will explain, Magic is the power of creation and destruction, with it you can make any element manifest or wounds heal but all this is only possible with the favour of the god responsible for that type of magic, which are Earth, water, air, fire, life, death, creation, destruction, order, Greed, health, misfortune, light, darkness and space.
(Xeor)-woo now you lost me, you had me and you lost me
(Denim)-Look here to cast a spell, first you need the favour of a god and secondly you need to know how to cast it
(Xeor)-fine till now but how do you do it
(Denim)-I only know two spells and both are healing ones but the rest of the spells are cast the same way so listen carefully, First you Imagine the form of the spell, mine for example is
in the form of a light that heals wounds, next you focus on the thought of casting it, I for example think about kindness and the pain of that person and third I think of how to help the person best, for example how the wound closes or the blood loss stops like that, but all I can do is cast the healing spell "heal light wounds" as much as I like but I can also cast another more powerful spell "Heal wounds" which leaves me unconscious for a day or two, Fifi can only cast "Heal light wounds" and faints just by casting it once but in ten years from now she won't faint anymore, So would you like to try?
(Xeor)-ready and able
Denim called Xeor next to him, he closed his eyes and he thought of the most terrifying thing he knew it was fire, he thought of burning and he saw the black smoke in his mind he opened his eyes and it was the morning of the next day, Grour and Fifi told him he had collapsed before even casting the spell so nothing really happened, it seems he hasn't the favor of the god of the element of fire. It was quite a scene as a small spark of fire appeared and he collapsed as if hit on the head but at least he knew how to do it now.
Xeor didn't give up the next day he woke up after learning he hadn't the favor of water god,
the next of air and the next of earth. He then tried the death god's spell and fell asleep for three years and if not for Denim's help he would have been dead in a week. but for now he sleeps in a comma as days fly him by.

Journey of Infinite Steps
Science Fiction/ Low fantasy Iliad. Oliver just wanted a job that could keep his family fed, and himself sane. Was that so much to ask for? Apparently. As he instead ends up facing monsters and dodging his way to another world instead. Competent as he views himself figuring out how to reopen a portal back home by himself is defiantly above his knowledge base. Of coarse it would be vastly simpler if he could keep 'getting back home' as his primary goal. 'Staying alive' is unfortunately a far more immediate and relevant goal. I will post any content warnings on a Per Chapter basis. Divisive content will be as skip-able as I can reasonably manage Discord Link will be available for those interested in assisting editing/ coauthoring. Especially character writers/those willing to work out the math/ economies and world building even if only as a wall to bounce ideas off of.-----Full Synapsis contains serious spoilers----- Looking to take care of his family, Oliver finds himself flung into a faraway place. Try as he might, his Iliad will not be simple or peaceful as he'd like. Alas the slow and unending war of Chaos and Order has long memories and longer reach. If Oliver is to make his way back home it looks like He'll have to solve the universe one fight and mystery at a time. Especially as the Laws of Physics shift, often on a per world basis. Hopefully there is still a home to come back to.

The Designated: Out of Control
It happened quicker than anyone would have imagined. Multiple hurricanes were one thing. People had dealt with that in the past. But, like kids playing dominoes, one thing crashed into another. Areas affected by hurricanes needed resources all along the Gulf and East Coasts drew rescuers and resources away from other parts of the country. When wildfires lit up the Pacific coast and mid-west, those areas were already understaffed. Driven by hurricanes in the Pacific basin, uncontrolled wildfires burned through towns, destroying everything in their paths. Across the Pacific, Asia didn't escape. From the Philippines, across China, into Indochina, and Bangladesh and India. Typhoons and cyclones pounded the coasts and far inland. Widespread flooding forced millions from their homes and across international borders. Mexico was hit hard and thousands died in mudslides as Katia slammed into their East Coast. The refugees fled north and west. Rumours started that hundreds of thousands were headed for the US border. Instead of running out of steam in the southern US, several hurricanes tore up the eastern seaboard, devastating cities and renewing their strength before veering east across the Atlantic. Maria and Ophelia veered east and slammed into Europe, reaching as far as the Netherlands and Russia before finally dissipating. After that, too many weather stations were offline to provide any form of co-ordinated information or warnings. Wildfires in Portugal burned ahead of the storms, fanned by hurricane winds. They sparked wildfires leapfrogging across Europe, beyond any one country's ability to cope. Already uneasy from multiple terrorist attacks over the summer, anti-refugee groups seized the opportunity to stage protests across Europe. Some turned violent as they clashed with police forces. Several governments declared martial law to quell the rioting and enforce evacuations along the path of the storms. Rumour and speculation overwhelmed facts. Unrest spilled over into widespread violence. Then sickness broke out in the displaced populations. Within a matter of a dozen weeks, tens of millions died. In the coming winter months hundreds more would follow. The Designated Project was activated.
