《Shattered Realms - A Pathfinder/D&D game》Prologue

Many generations ago, the world was torn asunder, ripped apart and parts sent floating through the void. Even the eldest of the elves, the longest living mortal race, was born after the shattering. Stories of the great war still filter through more than four hundred years after the event, though no one knows the main cause, whether it was gods, mortals, or both.

After the shattering, changes started to afflict the races, Dwarves, Orcs and Elves had very similar responses. There was a divide amongst them that caused some of the population to go back to their reclusive xenophobic origins (The Duruk Har, Orcs and Sylvan) whilst some wished to remain part of the greater society (The Duruk Lur, Uruk and Eladrin). Gnomes for the most part simply continued as they always had though slightly more morose than their ancestors. Kobolds evolved and grew to fill the void left by the erasure of humans and halfkin and took to calling themselves Dragonkin, Kobold becoming a rather heinous racial slur. Trollkin emerged from their less evolved heritage to great prejudice still largely untrusted and somewhat feared even today. Tieflings and Aasimar are relatively young races, having been around for little more than 100 years. Their emergence was met with mixed emotions. Aasimar generally good natured and a little naive were welcomed warmly though they have only started to learn the harsh realities of the world. Tiefling on the other hand, typically mischievous become world weary quickly. Often shunned due to their appearance being similar in description to demons and devils of legend. Finally, anthromorphs, humanoid creatures descended from animals, came into being, their variety greater than most of the major races combined. Some were canine, lupine, feline, avian, reptilian and more, all met with mixed feelings by all the denizens of the world.

Communities exist on these floating islands in the void and, with careful travel, crossing the void between islands is still possible where the islands are close enough. Most times travel is smooth, but occasionally, inexplicably, things happen. Mutations occur, whether it be something minor like hair or skin colour, or major, like extra arms or legs. There have been reported instances of whole groups going missing while void travelling.

The largest known island is the city state of Nonhatten, the most advanced and urbanized area pre-shattering. It has been hypothesized that, due to the cities established size and subway network that it was held together during the shattering, where land with no civilization had been crumbled down to masses barely large enough to hold a person.

Nonhatten is the home of many people from many walks of life, including our group of misfits, living in the slum district called Bridgerock.

Zagthaan, a tiefling warpriest, raised by dwarves and pushed to travel by divine influence. Ragnar, a dragonkin viking, a ruffian who grew up on the seas, shipwrecked and now on the streets. Stigr, a trollkin bard with amnesia, denied from bardic college, seeking to make a name for himself and Abs, a gnome rogue, son of the Cents merchants, pushed out of his family by his paranoid brother.

Thrust together in a group, scraping the bottom of the barrel for a paycheck, this is their adventures.
