《A Peaceful World》chapter 11 - barely managing

Quill walks through the forest with Yuki on his shoulder, glancing around and changing direction every now and then. He said he was going to kill the wolves but he had one big problem standing in the way of doing that.
“just where are the wolves?”
After wandering around for two days Quill has managed to find a pack of two-tailed monkeys, a herd full of rainbow coloured zebras and even a rock with wings! But not a single wolf has been seen. If there’s any good news then that would be his firemaking skill leveled up.
’how come whenever I don’t want them to show up they do and the one time I want them to show up there’s not even a trace of them?'
Quill suddenly flinches, a large rumbling can be heard, getting louder, louder and louder. Getting out a javen with his right hand and holding his spear in left, Quill prepares himself. Yuki on his shoulder looks worried. Throughout these two days not once has a fight occurred. Most food has come from berries and plants so not even one animal has been hunted. It’s natural for someone who never even fought before to be frightened, let alone worried.
’what the hell is coming’
A wonder of colours suddenly appear in front of Quill covering his entire vision. Quil jumps towards the side to escape whatever it is. Quill looks towards the attacker. It’s gone. Whatever it was is gone but the sound is still there. More colours start to appear and rush past Quill not even minding him. Now Quill knows what’s going on. Its zebras, rainbow zebras. An entire herd of rainbow zebras running through the forest like their lives depend on it.
’so many zebras, it’s a wonder they don’t hit any trees, wait, not the time to think that. They’re definitely running from something and I feel it might be dangerous… could it be? wolves? are wolves chasing them? Finally! after two days, I finally found some wolves!’
After the rainbow zebras pass Quill prepares himself into his previous position to take down the pursuer of the zebras.

The pursuer not long arrives and slashes it’s claws at Quill. Quill barely dodges the strike while simultaneously throwing the javelin.
’fast!’
Quill finally gets a good look at the pursuer. Six foot tall, four thick limbs, thick red fur, stubby snout and a stubby tail.
’that’s not a wolf, that’s a bear!’
right, a bear. A bear has appeared in front of Quill. The bear and Quill stare at eachother. Quill grabs his spear in both hands, not daring to grab another javelin in fear of creating an opening. The previous javelin seems to have missed as it’s embedded in a near by tree and the bear has no apparent wounds.
The bear stand on his hind legs and roars as an attempt to intimidate. Quill takes this chance to attack, stepping forwards and thrusts towards the heart. The bear counters with his claws, attacking from the side. Barely seeing the attack from the side Quill ducks, the claws slash just above his head, catching a few hairs. Quill aiming his spear upwards to pierce the stomach but it barely pierced the skin!
’what kind of skin has the goddamn bear got!’
Jumping back Quill yet again stares at the bear. it didn’t even looked injured at all, while there was a trickle of blood, the bear didn’t even look like it was in pain at all. Shocked at this Quill started to think of his options.
’should I run? no, this thing was capable of taking chasing down those zebras, there’s no way of outrunning it. Then how do I fight it, I can hardly do any damage and I can just about see it’s movements, maybe I can wear it down from a distance, it’s risky but if it doesn’t know the threat of javelin the I can atleast get in a free shot, hopefully I can get it’s eye or something.’
Quill takes a few steps back and takes his right hand off his spear to reach for a javelin behind his back. As the bear is oblivious to the meaning of this action, it just watches Quill for any actions of getting closer. Though the bear doesn’t look it but it is very wary of Quill. The choice to attack instead of running when there is no chance of winning is a completely unknown concept to the bear. Anything that chooses to fight is a potential danger, that is the law of this forest.

Quill takes out a javelin, aims at the bears head and launches it with all the power he has. As he does so Quill feels something strange flowing through him into the javelin. The javelin pierces the air as it spirals towards the bear hitting dead center in the stomach piercing through.
The bear roars in pain as fifth of the javelin is stuck in it’s chest.
’what the hell was that? wait, now’s, not the time, I gotta take this chance'
Quill quickly grabs another Javelin from behind him and tries to do the same thing.
’ok, same thing, no idea how I done it but hopefully it’ll happen again’
Quill throws the javelin and feels that same strange feeling flow into the javelin again. The javelin flies through the air again, soaring straight past the bear and embeds itself into a tree.
’again!'
Quill throws the javelin filled with that strange feeling again, It yet again missed the bear, embedding itself into a tree.
’dammit, again’
Quill throws another javelin only for it to miss again. Repeating this process for a second, third and even a fourth time still ended up in misses.
’again!’
Quill reaches back for another javelin but to only grab air.
’out already? damn, only got the option to get in close with the spear’
The bear who till now has been roaring with pain finally comes to it’s sense and towards Quill. It now knows why Quill didn’t run. It now knows what makes Quill so dangerous. In close range Quill can hardly damage the bear but from a distance he is a deadly existence.
Grabbing the spear in both hands Quill also charges at the bear. The bear seeing this is quite confused, why would a creature who’s weak at a close range run towards him, it’s like he’s running towards his death, but as the bear has already experienced one of Quills close ranged attacks, it know they didn’t hold much danger so didn’t falter and still charged. After getting close enough Quill striked out with his spear with all his power willing that strange feeling into the spear but nothing flows.
’eh? where is it? why isn’t it flowing?’
The spear pierces towards the bear but does barely any damage. The bear swings his claws at Quill.
’crap, can’t dodge in time’
Quill watches as the claw moves towards him to inevitably take his life. As the claw gets one inch from his face the claw stops and the bear has roared out. Quill looks back at the bear in surprise. The javelin that was in his stomach has been pushed further in.
’what the?’
As the claw was closing in on Quill, Yuki who was on his shoulder the whole time jumped towards the bear and headbutted the edge of the javelin further in causing the bear to roar out in pain.
’a chance!’
Quill jumps onto javelin, using it to propel him upwards above the bear, brings his spear behind his head and stabs downwards piercing the bears eye. The bear roars while swaying it’s head left right trying to chake Quill off but only causes the spear to twist causing it even more pain. Quill kicks the side of javelin as he is swayed about as well causing excruciating pain for the bear two different places. The javelin snapped from all the repetitive kicking from Quill and along with the snap the bear finally collapsed to the ground.
“hah, hah, that was a close one”
Quill catches his breath as he looks at the dead corpse of the bear then looks at Yuki.
“Yuki, you saved my life there, thanks, and from now on we should fight as a team”
As Yuki nods the usual window stating the end of combat pops up but another window pops up right after it.
