Since there is still more time before the testing of the new Cold-Sleep Machine, I went to the Command Center to observe and hear the report regarding the scavengers

Aside from being a scientist, I’m also the leader of this surviving group.

“Professor Jean, four cyber unit reached other facility and started scavenging the Miracle Metal.” (Command Center Operator leader)

“Excellent, we need those metals to reinforce the walls of this facility to withstand the possible strong earthquakes” (Prof. Jean)

The metal found in the asteroid is called Miracle Metal because it came at the right moment when humanity is in deep despair.

The cyber unit was created to harvest those metals in the space due to lack of time to train a human to do the job, and it’s too dangerous because one small mistake can be lethal and delay the everything.

Today it is being used as guards of this facility or scavenger to find materials need for our survival and experiments that we are conducting.

“how about the other units?” (Prof. Jean)

“Hmmm, Unit 2 is currently under heavy gun fight with surviving humans. Unit 4 to Unit 7 is still currently scavenging and loading the metals in trucks. We lost contact with Unit 10 when they entered the facility. Lastly, The Rest of the units are currently on the way to their respective mission location or heading back here with the materials or with other survivors.”

The CC Operator leader reported the current situation of the scavenger, I gave her the task to lead a group of people to monitor the action of the Cyber Units.

The materials that will be brought here will be used to create new satellites.

I already have the blueprint for the new satellite, but the development of it is delayed because of the lack materials, and thus we made a decision four years ago is to send the Cyber Units to scavenge materials or food since 5000 robots are resting here alone.

Since most of the satellites are still intact in the space, but it will soon fall back to earth, and to monitor the situation on Earth, we need a new type of satellite, a satellite that will never fall back to earth, and the Miracle Metal is the right materials. Certain properties in the metal defy the rules of physics, and it can negate the gravitational pull of Earth.

Right now there are more that 20,000 robots and increasing in the hangar, and I’ve deployed half of them to continue to scavenge things for us and change its program to use all kinds of primitive weaponry to modern weapons.

“Please look at this video, it is recorded by the Unit 10 before the signal disappeared a few minutes ago.” (CC Staff 1)

The staff played the video, and I watched it seriously, after few minutes something attacked them, my eyebrows knitted when I saw the scene and it's attacker.

“What is the mission of Unit 10 and where is it located?” (Prof. Jean)

“Wait let me check the data. . . . . . . . . . . . The mission is to retrieve the computer hard drives located in the facility North of Nevada.” (CC Staff 1)

Now everything is clear, the thing that attacked Unit 10 is a creation of Area 51.

A genetically modified animal, A two-headed dog with a size of 4 meters.

“We need those drives. send ten units to that place and their Priority mission are is to retrieve the HDD’s in the server room and once the retrieval is completed, immediately return and program their software to kill everything alive in their way. ” (Prof. Jean)

A unit is composed of 10 Cyber soldiers wearing synthetic skin, military uniform and armed to kill or to ensure the safety of the survivors.

“Copy sir, Preparation will start immediately to deploy the Cyber Units in 30 minutes” (CC Staff 1)

“Very well” (Prof. Jean)

I learned about the experiment conducted in Area 51 when during the conference about the development of other things needed to ensure the survival of humans in space.

They genetically modified animals to grow faster, and breed faster, but it is not limited to animals, they also changed the Plants’ genetic to grow quicker and capable of living with just weak sunlight to produce food.

I never expected that they left some of those dangerous animals in there and we don’t know their capabilities. The conference made a decision that the failed test subjects will be euthanized to avoid future problems.

As I began watching the contemporary scenes took by our drones that we launch to see the outside world and it's being projected in different monitors. The scene made me feel depress because of the situation of Earth. The earth ground surface become dry, plants withered and the carcass of humans and animals can be seen rotting in the streets, and I shifted my gaze in a digital clock, that indicates the time we have left.

The clock shows 39,420 hours and several minutes left, or 4 years and 6 months.

Clenching my fist hard while inside my pocket

“To give my only grandchild a life, a life he can live free, I must finish this project before time runs out” (Prof. Jean)

I muttered in a small voice to strengthen my resolve while looking at the at clock

When the clock turns zero, catastrophe will happen in all kinds of natural disaster. Such as Multiple volcanic eruptions, Storms that have the capacity to destroy buildings, earthquakes that will split the ground into two and create a tsunami as tall as the world's tallest structure and the chances that it will occur at the same time is high.

“Sir, it’s all set, we’ve completed the reconfiguration of the machine, and waiting for your signal to start the test.”

A young boy with a husky voice informed me via radio that we could test my idea that I thought last night.

‘Okay, Prepare everything, and look for a volunteer, expect my arrival within an hour.”

I left the command center and proceeded to the testing area

The testing area is 30 minutes’ walk from the control center because this place is huge enough that can hold several hundred of thousand of human and animals.

The facility is located 250 km beneath a cave in the Amazon forest.

The whole place spans 150 km in all cardinal directions, but there is a mystery surrounding this place.

It was built 100 million years ago.

When this facility was discovered 1000 years ago, There is no signs of life, nor any tools or equipment left behind to give a hint what kind of technology was used to build this place and why, but the only thing that was left was a map.

The map indicates 51 locations including this one, whereas it is currently being used as a bunker and research facility for the most dangerous experiment in the world.

How did I learn all about this, because of my forefather the first researcher and scientist in our lineage, he’s a Geologist and studying the reported weird earth formation inside a cave in the middle of the Amazon forest. There he stumbled upon this place by pure coincidence when the wall of soil crumbled after he took out a loss rock.

Everything is written in a book that he wrote, and it’s an heirloom of our family and the pride.

While admiring about this place, I reach my destination

I quickly wear my lab coat and enter the Cold-Machine Testing Area.

“is the preparation done?”

“Yes sir, the volunteer is also ready, we can start any moment.”

I only nod at him, walk straight toward the volunteer.

“Are you sure about this?, This is really dangerous, and the current probability of success is less than 50%.”

“Yes, I’m ready and all aware of it, if I didn’t survive the experiment, i know my death will not be in vain, because my death will create data, and that data will be used to perfect this machine.”

The girl around 18 years old answered my question with great conviction, and she is ready to die.

“Okay, once you entered pod, we will begin.”

The girl nodded at my instruction, and slowly entered the pod.

Before she entered the pod, all cold-resistance sensor attached to her body to monitor the vitals working properly.

“Okay, You all know what to do!! Let's Begin!”

I gave my instruction, and all the operators started.

“ Initializing operation, Closing the pod and shifting its angle to 45°. “ (Main Operator)

“Angle corrected, starting to release water.” (Sub Operator)

The pod is now diagonal position, and the water is increasing, and it will stop once it reaches the chest area.

“Water level cleared, Releasing the sleeping gas and starting to slowly decrease the temperature.”

“Sleeping gas released and the temperature is starting to drop.”

The operators are regular people trained inside the facility to handle different works to compensate for the lack of specialist to operate machinery or computer and that same goes to the young scientist here, they learned things through consulting book while doing experiments or been thought by the senior scientist who stayed here on earth like me.

Several tens of minutes passed

“Temperature is down to 10° Celsius and still slowly dropping.”

Watching the actual operation makes my heart beat faster, makes me feel anxious for the success and safety of the subject.

“The vital signs and brain activity showing signs she entered hibernation,”

“Decrease the temperature at fast rate and maintain it -150°” (Prof. Jean)

I gave the command because of this is the most crucial moment.

“Decreasing!”

It only took 2 minutes that the temperature inside the pod reach -150° celsius

I took a peek inside through the glass part of lid. The girl inside peacefully sleeping with smile on her face, but I'm unable to determine if she is still alive or not.

Her face doesn’t have any signs of freezing, so the helmet and clothing probably work.

The water didn’t freeze is a good sign that the combined distilled water with antifreeze substances such as Ethylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol worked.

We didn’t need to worry about the corrosion caused by the content since the Miracle Metal is durable it doesn’t corrode due to its natural anti-corrosion properties it has.

“How her condition?”

“I think she already entered suspended animation, since the monitors cannot determine if she still alive or not since her vitals are giving flat signs and the brain activity stopped” (Operator 1)

“Sigh* is that so, but then will do it like the procedure leave her like that inside the pod for 30 mins” (Prof. Jean)

I shrugged my shoulder and made a big sigh and issued a command to monitor any changes.

30 minutes later

“Open the pod and all personnel prepare for the extraction!” (Prof. Jean)

“Copy sir! Beginning extraction ” (Operator 2)

The whole place becomes rowdy again.

The pods’ lid made of glass slowly opened and exposing the girls inside.

Everyone gulp their saliva, unable to hide the excitement or anxiousness

To break the silence, I shouted

“REVIVAL BEGIN!”
