《Challenge System》CH5: Successful Jump

My knife was first to land and slice into the fatty tissues surrounding the organ. The monster turned, and my knife cut, and for a second, I thought I would fall into the monster's depths. Who knew what would happen to me if I let myself fall through? But I was lucky a bone caught my knife and nearly ripped my arm out of its socket. That was ok; I would heal just like this monster might eventually heal.
"You ate us," I yelled and stabbed, punched, and clawed my way through feet of the fatty membrane. I stuffed my hand in knife first, and the monster shook as my knife finally found what it hungered for. Then, when I was sure I had hit something important, I twisted and slashed to the side, making a new hole to free my hand and blade.
I checked my phone to see 3 of the three objectives were completed. From above, Elorael watched me from the first heart. The monster wasn't moving, and she was safe enough. While the air in the heart was probably a little thin, it was manageable. Next, I turned my attention to the depths of the beast and jumped before running down the spine and using my phone light to look around.
"Are there any maps or anything I can buy to help me find the next objective?" I asked.
"For 100SP, you can purchase a pair of augmented reality glasses with a finder function. Do you want to spend 100 SP?" Message said.
I checked my account I had a little over 120SP. Money would be tight, but it would help.
"Go for it," I said.
A pair of sunglasses appeared through a cube of blue data. I snatched them before they could fall and slipped them on. Suddenly the world adjusted until everything became visible; a blue line appeared pointing to my next objective and even as the time ticked away. Then, finally, a moving glowing yellow sack appeared, and I had to kill everything inside it.

I grunted and felt the strength in my legs increase for only a moment before I shot up 10ft and slashed through a lung. The organ collapsed in on itself, and I moved. My augmented reality glasses showed me an artery large enough to swim through.
After slicing the vessel open, blood rushed out even as I squeezed myself inside. I swam through the artery and cut holes to drain some of the blood. All I needed was some space, and I could run the rest of the way. Cleary, my best method would have been taking care of the eggs first.
Through swimming and eventually crawling, I made my way to the monster's reproductive organs and cut my way inside its egg sac. Inside was the scene of a massacre. The beasts were eating their unhatched brethren. Blood poured into the egg sac, and the monster spotted me. It shrieked and charged.
After climbing through the kaiju's body, I realized. I was powerful. Not only was I powerful, but I had a whole 20 minutes to deal with these creatures. Even if it was 10 feet tall, covered in a brown version of its parent's black scales, and hungry as hell. I could do this.
The monster opened its maw, and its giant tongue shot out. It grabbed my left and yanked me off my feet. Instead of panicking, I led with my knife even as it swallowed my arm up to the shoulder. For the first time since fighting these monsters, my knife did nothing. The tip of my knife bounced off, and I was in trouble.
Its fangs bit into my arms, sinking into my flesh and muscle like a hundred hypodermic needles. Then, as my hand shook and my nerves were on fire, I turned to the monster. Even if it was dumb, I had an idea.
I switched my grip and shoved my other hand into the creature's mouth. The monster's eye switched to my hand on its jaws opened wide. My other hand fell down into the monster's gullet, and it lunged. I pressed the knifed down as its wide mouth fit over my shoulders. The familiar coppery tang of fresh blood spilled as I cut into the monster. After the next long, racking, deep piercing slash, I cut the thing into ribbons inside.

I stabbed with my right hand and tore with my left with both hands inside the creature. Soon its blood and guts spilled out of its mouth and piled up at my feet. The infant beast spasmed and died.
10 minutes to go, and I still had another egg sac to finish off. I stomped and slashed every egg I could find before taking another vein artery leading me to the other sac.
Before the monster could even open its mouth, I shot over to it. Unfortunately, its eyes turned to me too late. I couldn't stab it to death, and its neck was too fat to throttle properly. But everything poops, and there were plenty of arteries there too. So I found whatever the thing used for an ass and stabbed.
It shrieked and bled as I shoulder-checked it to the ground and stabbed it repeatedly. Finally, the creature flailed, and I turned to deliver a hard knife handle to the back of its armored head. Blood flowed as I went for the kill kicking through the soft ovum and gutting immature kaiju groin to the skull.
With little more than a knife, I had destroyed a Kaiju. But the counter still ticked down, and the little fucker still twitched. I studied the back of its head until I found a slight separation in its armored scales for flexibility. Then, after lining the tip of my blade against it, I reared back and stabbed true.
The infant kaiju spasmed before going still. I sucked in a breath and let it out.
A happy bag of pills fell in my hand, and I hit the ad for a double-up. What's better than 5 pills each? What else than 10 pills each. I could multiply my strength by 10 after a single challenge.
"Before you get any ideas, pills aren't cumulative. Consuming 10 won't multiply your strength by 10; they will give you greater potential. Techniques or magic that increase your strength will be much more effective on you than anyone else. You should ask your lady friend about her people's breathing techniques. Without it, she would have suffocated by now." Message said.
I took the blue waypoints directed by my interface to get back to Elorael, and together we made the long trek up the monster's gullet. Unfortunately, some seawater flowed in, and when we climbed up through the kaiju's nasal cavity, it was clear we were lost out at sea on a now-dead kaiju.
"How are we floating? Shouldn't this thing have already sunk?" I asked.
"Gods can make themselves lighter with their natural breathing techniques. You must have cut into one of its lungs mid-breath and spilled that breath in its diaphragm. I think we'll be afloat long enough for it to start rotting. We might have up to a week or maybe more of floating before the predators open enough holes in it to sink us." Elorael said.
My stomach rumbled, and she giggled. "We might as well eat as much as we can before it rots and cycle out breathing techniques. I believe a sea god will be quite beneficial for me." Elorael said.
"I don't have a cycling technique; could you teach me yours?" I asked.
Elorael smiled; maybe if you do something for me.

Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
