Hello guys i wanted to make sure to put this at the top since it is important i am now using ' for whenever Marcus and the others speak in there head and " for when conversations are out loud just to make it a bit easier! Also i want to clear one thing up Marcus will never be able to use magic like Sakura although he will have something special and there is magic just for monster tamers but ill leave that to your imagination. k well enjoy the chapter.

Chapter 8

We moved as quickly as we could Sakura and I going towards the gryphon on the left while Nox poisoned the one one the one on the right. To start off everything Sakura launched a fire lance towards the gryphon to grab its attention.

“ GRAAAAAAAAAAA “

Sadly though Sakura's magic is not strong enough to kill this beast in one blow. Seeing that Nox was through paralyzing the one on the right I looked at her and said.

' Together Nox ill aim for the chest go for the neck. '

' Yesss massster '

Running towards the gryphon I readied Durandal by pouring my mana inside of him I also imagined the daggers melding into one. A longer weapon was needed after all so I could pierce the gryphons heart in one blow. Its very crucial that you kill gryphons as quick as possible never underestimate an animal on deaths door or you yourself will end up the corpse. Sakura had used an earth spike right under the gryphon it dodged wonderfully but, sadly that's what we wanted. Using the time it took for the gryphon to get its bearings straight we struck.

My blade piercing straight through the gryphons chest I could feel its heart on the other side slowly fading away at the same time Nox had sunk her fangs deep into the beast. Only taking a couple of seconds the gryphons life soon faded away. We moved quickly though we understood what must me done. Right before we were about to strike the second gryphon I heard a voice scream.

“ Stoooooooooooooooooop!!!! Do not kill that gryphon I beg of you please. “

Shocked I couldn't respond completely forgetting who we jumped in to help.

I looked towards the knight that had screamed he looked tired exhausted like he was almost ready to pass out but he held on he looked at me not leaving a single opening.

“ Why would you like me to not kill this gryphon in 8 minutes once this poison wears off it will try to kill you again. “

The knight looked at me and sighed.

“ I know but we have a collar of taming here. It will make the gryphon obedient we must take the beast as we are in a time of war we are training more winged troops. “

Collar of taming sheesh they had something like that why monster tamers are not very popular makes more than enough sense now.

“ Very well I will leave this gryphon here if it kills you do not blame me “

Right before we took off the knight once again screamed.

“ Waiiit! Whats a young boy such as yourself doing in these woods and your a monster tamer no less where is your family? This place is dangerous a lot of Red backed bears around here. “

“ Family you are looking at them my companions here are my family I have no one else. “

The knight looked quite confused at my answer but from the look on his face he wasn't going to let this go.

The knight slowly got up and walked over to me as he did Nox got ready to pounce on him.

“ Woah calm down there I'm just here to ask you one thing won't you come with us? We are headed back to the palace we are royal knights for the King Belanius the 3rd. “

I thought about it for a second and spoke to the others about it.

' What do you guys think about it. '

' Whatever massster wissshesss. '

' I agree with Nox master it is your decision as long as we are togethere. '

' Master I have not seen the world in a very long time I would like to explore more of it with you the one who has freed me. '

They all seemed in agreement and I really was kind of growing tired of this place being in a forest is only fun for so long I missed toilets. Looking up towards the knight I gave him a firm answer with no second thought.

“ We will go with you my name is Marcus what is yours knight. “

“ Marcus huh the names Nile I am personal knight of King Belanius lets go

with the others so we can pack up and start going back. “

We started walking towards the other 4 knights 2 were badly injured and I couldn't help but ask Sakura.

' Sakura do you think you can heal them? '

' Ha easily master I have been training after all. '

Once we reached the others I said out loud for the dramatic effect of course.

“ Sakura heal them. “

They looked confused at first until she walked over to the 2 injured knights and cast water magic on them. They looked much better after Sakura was done some of the color had even come back to there faces.

“ Wow that tamed monster of your can use healing magic where did you find this one I bet the King would pay a fortune for one of these on standby. “

“ Strange never seen one of these things before what kinds of fox is this. “

They all had something to say until Nile walked over and said.

“ Okay okay no one is paying nothing for anything. This here is Marcus hell be coming back with us to the Palace. He is also the one who saved your asses so any moves to try and take his tamed monsters and ill let him do whatever he wants to yah. “

They all sighed and continued with what they were doing 2 of the knights went over to the gryphon and put a large collar looking thing on him after that they chanted a few words and the beast whole attitude had changed it started listening to there commands.

What a strange device ill have to learn more about this collar of taming when I have the time. Hopefully there is a library in this palace. Nile was a strange guy offering this to a complete stranger one that looks like a child as well. Nile looked almost average he seemed about 6 feet tall average build he did have a scar running across his right eye it didn't prevent him from seeing though. The only thing that made Nile stand out was his bright red hair the others all had brown or black hair but his was bright red his eyes were also a deep green I have never seen this combination before. Strange guy but there's no use dwelling on that he offered me something I plan on taking.

Soon enough Nile looked towards the rest of us.

“ Everything is loaded up in the carts lets go you rascals hop in the back of the cart I'm driving. “

I didn't know where to go so I followed the rest of them we walked about a minute out until we were met with a huge cart it seemed full of food and supplies. Hopping in the back with the rest of them I looked around there was enough room for all of us to sleep. There however wasn't enough room for Nox to come in she was just too large so she opted for staying in my shadow until we arrive at wherever we are going. The others were surprised for a minute but no one said anything.

I sat in my corner with Sakura on my lap stroking her fur waiting for us to take off. Soon enough after about 3 minutes we started moving but as soon as we did one of the knights sitting next to me leaned over and said.

“ The names Jarvis nice to meet ya but I gotta ask whats a little boy that looks young enough to still be on yer moms teat doing out here in the woods with such strong monsters. “

The other all looked over whenever Jarvis had asked that. Thankfully I had though of a response.

“ I was raised by wolfs. “

“ HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA “

They all started laughing but I was quite confused I thought that was a valid response until Jarvis looked over and said.

“ Boy wolfs eat children for breakfast its ok you don't have to tell us I just wanted to lighten the mood is all ill leave ye alone now. “

Just like this with the occasional conversation coming from Jarvis a week had gone by. Our routine was simple eat after riding for 12 hours switch drivers then continue driving. We made pretty decent time but I still had no idea where we were going. Today though something seemed different everyone was awake and looked ready if your wondering about the gryphon it always walked 3 meters behind the cart. However today was different I didn't know how but I soon found my answer. After driving for about 2 hours I heard Nile scream from the front.

“ There she is boys home sweet home. “

The others all looked excited as did I looking through the front of the cart I saw it. It was huge the walls on the outside were at least 40 feet high I was amazed it was beautiful and I haven't even seen the inside yet. Just like this is how I came to my first city in this new world.
