《Must I Go Out to Survive This?》Chapter 28.5 - Makise & Okata

Normal school day. Many students go to school as usual. However, on this day too, there were quite a number of students who did not enter at the same time.
"Hehe, red..."
A girl is now holding a wide red cloth. It was the girl's favorite color. The girl is named Makise Yurika.
She is currently in the club room. It was supposed to be normal school hours, but she had to leave because she had an important job at the club.
"Skipping with excuses is kind of fun too..."
She had a vested interest in making gifts for someone. She has a duty to take care of the materials in her club. In the sewing club.
Makise took something out from under her shirt. It was a gift wrap which she had been secretly hiding.
High school girl wrapping gifts in an empty room. Free from rules within that period of school time.
At the same time, in a class, a male student experienced excruciating pain.
"Ahhhh!"
"Anu, are you okay?"
A scream came out of the mouth of the student, followed by a question from the teacher who was currently teaching. The class became focused in one direction. It was the student sitting closest to the classroom door.
The student did not answer. He was now silent, giggling slightly with his head resting on the table. The confused teacher tried to contact the school medic. One of the students came over to check on him.
However, it was a mistake.
"Graaaa!"
The student who was screaming in pain before suddenly jumped at the approaching student. The two of them fell down, and unnoticed by many of the other students, the man was being bitten by a zombie in the shoulder.
"Stupid, stop it!"
The student who was trying to help push the student whose mouth is now full of blood. There was an attack, that is what the students thought.
The concentration of the class was divided into two. Several students tried to freeze the attacking students. Another group of students who were predominantly female tried to treat the injured student.
The teacher also wanted to help. He had managed to call one of the medical officers at the school who often looked after the medical room.
"Who is sick?"
The medic asked the crowd which was divided into two. However, before any of the students who wanted to speak were answering the question, the student who had been injured attacked him.
"Oi, stop that!"
Chaos ensues in the classroom. There were quite a number of people trying to stop. That is until they realize that one by one people are going wild.
They just realized that they turned out to be some kind of zombie. Creatures they never thought would exist.
Several students who were not injured walked out of the classroom. They ran to save themselves.
"Hoiii!, open this gate right now!"
Some of the students who managed to escape the chaos reached the front gate of the school. The crowd of only five people was stopped by the chained gate.
A whistle sounded.
"Go back to your classes!"
He is the gate guard. Obviously, he couldn't let those students out as it is his duty.
"Hey, stop climbing!"
The security guard hit the leg of one of the students who tried to climb over the gate. The student didn't stop even though he felt excruciating pain from the direct impact of the blow.
"You... I'll report this to the principal!"
The security guard took out his cellphone to record a video of the students escaping climbing the gate.

Shortly after, there were quite a number of other students arriving to do the same. Begging to open the door while some are climbing.
"What do you want!"
"Sir, there is chaos in there. People are biting each other so badly... we don't want to be here!"
The security guard was notified by one of the students who was already on the other side. With a bit of hesitation the security guard then took out the key. He was about to open the padlock that locked the chain.
There were about forty disciples standing in front of the gate. They waited for the security guard to open the gate.
One of the students fell, the other immediately dodged a few meters from him. The security guard who saw it immediately tried to provide help.
"No sir, just open the door now!"
"I will open this gate if you help this one friend of yours!"
"Aghhh..."
One of the students who was already depressed finally grabbed the pack of keys from security, which one of the keys is for the gate. He didn't know which was the correct key.
"Sir, where is the key for the gate ..."
He turned and saw that the security guard had been bitten in the neck. The other students immediately dispersed with some running back inside and the rest trying to climb over the gate.
The students who were already outside immediately fled to the street area. Some also fled to the forest area behind the school.
In a bathroom. Someone was sitting in the cubicle of one of the bathrooms.
"Shit, what the hell are they. Berserker plus saber is too overpowered!"
A male student who wasn't doing his normal bathroom activities grumbled. He who had just lost his ga
me could only express annoyance.
"Stop it!"
A low voice from outside was heard. The student who actually skipped class on the pretext of permission to go to the bathroom became a bit curious.
"Hmmm?"
The student named Okata heard quite a crowd of people. They are like running and screaming out of something.
"What the hell are they doing?"
He opened the door and found a very unpleasant sight. A female student who was biting a student in the stomach. Blood spurted upwards.
"Damn, this looks dangerous!"
Okata, who realized that this incident was similar to a zombie game in general, immediately looked for a way that could be passed to escape. He found it, but there were some zombies who had already seen the truant man.
"Bastard!"
Immediately, Okata ran to an area where there were no zombies there. The man had been truant and was in the bathroom of the first graders' building. He made it out of the corridor area and turned right.
"Graa!"
The place was already infested with zombies. Some zombies are aware of Okata's existence.
Behind there are zombies. On the right there are zombies, Okata was forced to turn around to the left to escape. It was actually a stalemate because later he would be faced with the school boundary wall.
Okata ran while being chased by a zombie whose movement was a bit slow. On the right, Okata saw a slightly open door. That was the direction he was heading now.
Immediately Okata entered the room and closed the door. Seeing the key still hanging in the inner hole made him immediately move passively to turn it.
Now Okata is safe and alone. Or that is what he thought.
"...Ah!"
Okata turned around and saw in the corner of the room a girl holding a wrapped object. He just stared at Okata with a slightly frightened look.

"Ha-hello, did you have anything with our club?"
The girl who had the name Makise was nervous. Obviously, she was thinking about a lot of things at the time.
Was the unknown man going to rape her or maybe she just happened to enter the room. That's what Makise thought when she saw Okata moving closer.
Okata held the chair next to Makise. The girl tried not to be afraid and calmed herself down.
"Y-you haven't been bitten, have you?"
Judging from the style, the man facing Makise was currently feeling nervous as well. Apart from being nervous, he also felt a bit scared.
"Me? Bitten? I was bitten by a stray cat before. What's the matter?"
Makise, who suddenly received a random question, tried to ascertain what the man's intentions were. Okata who had asked the wrong question could only scratch his head as he couldn't calm himself down.
"No... aghh, you don't know what's going on outside?"
Okata pointed towards the door. The sound of the approaching zombies could now be heard rather softly in their ears.
"I don't know. It's a bit crowded but it doesn't feel dangerous. Is there a demo?"
Makise, who didn't understand at all what was happening, asked. Okata could only forgive the confused innocent girl for not knowing.
"No, this is a zombie outbreak!"
Okata went straight to the heart of the matter. Without needing any proof or anything else, he told Makise about information that was very likely to make one panic or disbelieve.
"Zombie outbreak... You mean parade?"
Makise, who was scratching her head, gave a response that was beyond Okata's expectation. The man had never thought of a zombie parade like the one that came out of that one girl's mouth.
"Aghh-"
"Graaa!"
furious Okata growl that was interrupted by more horrifying zombies. Okata immediately came close to Makise for covering the girl that almost opened her mouth.
"Please be quiet for a moment... By the way, my name is Okata!"
While silencing Makise, Okata introduced himself. He tried to make the atmosphere as calm as they could.
Makise, who didn't know what the man meant at all, couldn't help but be silent. She didn't want to try to fight back because she was too scared. Besides that, Makise also felt that what the man did was not meant to put her in danger.
Makise's female instincts.
"My name is Makise. Is this really a dangerous situation?"
Makise reintroduced herself while asking with a little scared.
"Yes, this is very dangerous!"
answered Okata which made Makise immediately think of her friend. Haruka, her friend since middle school and currently in the same school. It's just that she's not in the same class as her.
"Th-then I'll tell my friend first!"
Somewhat, nervously Makise responded. Okata, who heard that, thought that the girl was desperate to go out and find her friend.
"You can't!"
Okata softly rejected Makise's idea while holding out her hand as if to prevent her from going to the door.
"Using a cellphone!"
Haruka showed her cellphone which was opening a chat application. Okata who saw this could only put on a stiff smile. He just realized that he's not the only one who likes to give explanations without really clear clarity.
For a few moments Okata looked out
the clubroom window. It could be seen that the zombies were starting to decrease. Makise beside him just kept on typing. The girl who was worried about her close friends tried to contact all of them.
Okata, who only had two parents living on the mountain without a signal, could only fall silent. He has sent important messages regarding information such as the danger outbreak. However, the message had clearly not been received by them.
Okata looked back at the window. From there it appears that the zombies have been greatly reduced. There were still a few that were close to them, but Okata felt that he could get past them if he was very careful.
"Okay, now it seems safer!"
Makise nodded. She was walking behind Okata and put her cellphone in her pocket.
Very slowly Okata opened the door. Seeing that there are three zombies on the left side which is quite far from them. About ten meters from the location of the opened door.
Okata gave Makise a hand to follow him. He moves to the right.
Suddenly the phone notification sound sounded quite loud. It came from Makise's shirt pocket.
"Sorry, I forgot to turn off the notification sound!"
The three zombies directly faced the two of them. Okata immediately grabbed Makise's right hand.
"Shit, let's run!"
Makise was pulled running towards a place that was directly accessible to the back of the building. It was a place that students rarely passed by.
They entered the bush. The zombies who had lost their way now just returned a strange growl while walking around following their senses.
"We're safe!"
The peeking Okata told quietly. Makise, who was beside him, nodded while turning off all sound settings on her cellphone.
"... Hey, what are we going to do now?"
After being silent for a while, Makise started to ask. Okata who was still trying to figure out his way was still speechless. Makise is waiting.
"Okay, Makise. Listen to me. Firstly, nice to meet you..."
Okata, who realized that they hadn't greeted each other like he normally did, now stuck out his hand. Makise understood what Okata meant and she caught Okata's hand.
"Nice to meet you..."
They shook hands.
"Then, I have a plan. First, we'll go to the warehouse in the corner over there... After that we'll try to find a ladder or anything that can help us climb the walls of this prison!"
Okata explained while pointing towards the West. He could only think of this one plan.
"Okay, speaking of prison walls, these are made to protect us from possible tigers and wild animals that are still scattered around!"
Makise tries to straighten Okata's understanding of the high wall surrounding the school. The girl read the full school pamphlet.
"Aghh, it's the same. Then, let's head over there!"
Okata while signaling Makise moved towards the West. Only bushes and empty space are behind.
There is an intersection between the two buildings. Luckily the place was covered by an iron door which only the school staff could open. On their left is a place to burn trash.
Their journey was going very smoothly until they finally arrived at a corner which was closed by a metal door just like the one at the intersection. However, this one does not use a padlock key, but a manual key from the inside.
Okata opened the lock and tried to look outside. There are a lot of zombies surrounding a place.
Okata locked the door again for fear that a zombie would notice them. Okata gave a signal to Makise that the situation there wasn't safe. Makise was just pensive because she was worried about her friend, Haruka.
They both sat there for a few minutes. There were quite a few escape plans in Okata's mind.
Starting from looking for a car to go through the gate, climbing walls with the help of Makise or secretly heading to the school gate which is very dangerous because the area is very open.
Unfortunately, all of those plans had a low probability of success. The car is only owned by the teachers and obviously the key is in their hands who are most likely already became zombies. Reaching a wall over four meters high was something that really relied on luck and strength. Okata wasn't sure about the strength of his hand. Heading straight to the gate was clearly an action that was very unlikely to succeed. He didn't want to risk it unless it was really urgent.
Makise on the other hand is also thinking about an escape plan. With her quite strange mind, she thought of digging the ground that made a curve to come out from underground. Or by destroying the wall using a cell phone. Or even think of disguised as a zombie in order to pass smoothly.
Even though she thought of such a plan, Makise knew that it was just her fantasy. She never thought that it would actually come true.
They waited until suddenly there was a very loud ringing tone.
"Graaaa!"
The sound of countless footsteps headed towards the sound source on the other side of the building. The zombies moved away from their place.
Okata quietly opened the door again. Makise
also peeked.
It was seen that there was a ladder that was bent and unusable with two zombies stuck there. The zombies dragged the object the two of them were looking for away.
Even so, Okata and Makise still thought that there was another staircase inside the warehouse. Their main problem now is how to open the warehouse.
"Makise-chan, we have to make the most of this time!"
"Humu!"
Okata and Makise, who judged the situation as a safe one, immediately moved outside to try to find another ladder.
Okata and Makise silently moved. They saw that there were also people who had reached the warehouse first.
The stuck zombies noticed that there were people marching into the building. They growled loud enough to make the other zombies turn towards him. In the direction where Okata and Makise were sneaking around.
The door was almost closed by someone from inside the warehouse. Okata and Makise were silent for a while as they were confused about whether to go back or try to head to the warehouse.
The ringing sound that had been heard before had now stopped. The cessation of the ringing tone made the zombies move towards where the sound of the crawling zombie was calling.
"Oiii! Over here!"
The man who was about to close the barn door stopped moving. He called out to Okata and Makise who were in danger.
Immediately without further ado Okata pulled Makise to run towards the warehouse. The zombies who saw this immediately moved in groups towards the warehouse.
The door is closed. The burly man then locked the door while adding objects such as shelves to further block it.
Okata and Makise, who had never experienced such a stressful experience, could only breathe very fast. They felt very panicked.
"... Thank you!"
Makise said while leaning her forehead on Okata's shoulder. The words were also followed by Okata who addressed the same person.
"You're welcome... is it just the two of you?"
The burly man named Rakiru stretched out his hand. He pulled Okata's body to his feet.
"Yeah, we're not with anyone else anymore!"
Okata answered. The two men are now facing each other in the sense of trying to understand each other's conditions. Haruka is currently opening her cellphone to search for information as well as contact other people.
"... Hey, have you guys been hit by their attacks!"
A new man came in while asking loudly. It was both a question and a warning in Okata's ears.
"We didn't get hit at all..."
Okata explained while showing his body parts.
"Do not lie!"
The man named Kuro couldn't believe it at all. He who had seen for himself how people changed with just a small bite clearly couldn't believe it.
"Calm down Kuro, let me check it... nothing at all!"
Rakiru intervened and checked the two people's bodies. He didn't find any wounds or even any traces of blood.
"...Good. Now, the most important thing for you is not to come near me!"
Kuro turned around. He who is not easy to get along with strangers speaks directly like that.
Moments later Rakiru also left. A knock on the door could be heard behind them. The clear knocking sound is not from just one zombie.
"Come on, Makise-chan!"
Okata took Makise to a safer place than their current position which was very close to the door. The two of them sat on the side of the wall of the building.
"Hey Okata, do you know what really happened?"
Makise, who stopped typing on the cellphone, turned to Okata and asked. The girl thought that Okata might know something about this incident.
"Ju-just called my name right away!"
However, what entered Okata's brain wasn't Makise's important question, but his nickname that immediately sounded as if they had a very close relationship. Call without formality.
"Don't you like it? Would you like another nickname?"
Makise, who doesn't really like formalities, tries to ask for another nickname for Okata. She knows that some people don't like being called by their real names and prefer names that sound cool.
"N-no, that's fine too... But well, I only know things like this from movies,"
Okata, who was still not used to the call, answered somewhat nervously. He returned to his normal serious tone as he was about to explain what he knew about zombies.
"You mean Mamarika's film is real?"
Makise responded in Okata's sentence breaks. Although she looks innocent, the girl also likes watching horror movies.
"No, I didn't say anything like that... I think it's more like a biological weapon than a country’s film!"
Okata, who understood the reference Makise was referring to, denied. Instead, he steered the topic in a more conspiratorial direction.
"Ahhh, when I get into politics I'm not that smart... The point is we can only trust the government, right?"
Makise responded while typing something. She is still trying to contact everyone close to her.
"Hah, the government will never save us!"
said Okata which made Makise's face a bit gloomy. The man who realized that his words had a negative impact then fell silent an
d touched Makise's hand.
The two of them along with the other students inside the warehouse would try to last as long as possible. Try to survive from dangers within time rather than facing those dangers outside.
The danger that comes from oneself. The danger of the name necessity.
