《Must I Go Out to Survive This?》Chapter 23 - Suspicion

Someone came and immediately threw something very hard. Something passed over Yamada's head and hit something behind.
Or rather it is a zombie.
Tanaka, he arrived with a very unique welcome.
'Enemy? Reinforcement? Who?'
Yamada thought hard. He is still thinking about who would come because of the summons of his opponent, Yuki.
Only one person came. One person Yamada had seen. The person he thought committed suicide by entering a hospital full of zombies.
Haruka just realized that it was the same person who entered the hospital. Someone who can get in and out of the most dangerous places in the city.
The students except Yuki and the pack girl were surprised to see Tanaka who managed to get out of the hospital intact. Likewise Tanaka who was confused to see who the four strangers in front of him were.
"Who are they Yuki?"
Tanaka asked Yuki who was standing with her MP4. The girl felt that she didn't need to be on guard anymore. She knew that with Tanaka around, she wouldn't be in any danger.
"Impossible. How could you survive!"
Akira who just realized who the person in front of him suddenly spoke. Yamada who is in super careful mode was about to stop Akira. However, his body couldn't move at all.
Yamada is afraid of the person in front of him, Tanaka. This was not due to the fact that the man was able to emerge from the zombie crowd unharmed, but rather because he could feel it.
His wild instincts told him to run away from the man who had just arrived. The instinct that Yamada always used to survive. Instinct that never goes wrong.
"I mean, why not?"
Tanaka answered. The man wearing a drawstring shirt and long jeans put the suitcase he was carrying. The suitcase which made the four students back away slightly in fear.
Tanaka couldn't say anything except astonished.
"Impossible. You should have died in that crowd! Why did you come back here so quickly-"
"You're noisy Akira!"
Akira's words were interrupted by a warning from his friend, the girl with the package. The girl realized that Akira was causing trouble.
"Asagi... Please forgive me, sir!"
Akira looked at the package girl and then looked down apologetically at Tanaka. Tanaka who doesn't understand can only show OK gesture.
The package girl is Asagi.
"Yuki, explain to me what happened!"
Tanaka asked Yuki once more. He still wasn't sure what had happened.
"This happened a few minutes after Tanaka entered the hospital. Four people suddenly opened the truck door and-"
"Ah!"
Yuki was still explaining and was suddenly cut off by Tanaka who realized something. He remembered that he had forgotten to lock his truck door earlier.
"...No, go on Yuki!"
"Okay... these four people came in and one of them beat me half-passed out. When I woke up, the truck was already being driven by that guy with glasses named Yamada. After I got the chance, I made them stop and call you to come over. !"
Yuki explained how the experience was. Tanaka understood that.
However, there is one thing that is still too gray. Why did the four students who looked very shabby want to steal the truck. That's what Tanaka thought.
"So... can any of you explain what happened!"
Tanaka turned towards the four students. He just wanted to get a chronology from both sides. Tanaka wasn't an only-one-side listener.
Yamada, who was under heavy pressure, couldn't move at all. Haruka who often relied on Yamada as the leader is also silent watching because her savior was silent. Tanaka who was still waiting for an answer just stood casually like an ignorant person. Yuki who was a bit annoyed that they had waited too long was about to come forward.

That was until Haruka saw a swarm of zombies appear.
"He-hey, can we change places? I think the zombies are on their way!"
Tanaka thought that the ponytail girl was about to explain. However, it turns out that she told the problem of the zombies that were coming.
"Everyone, get in the truck. Fast!"
Tanaka called out after he saw hundreds of zombies emerge from behind the plantation.
Yuki immediately opened the truck and started the engine. Tanaka opened the truck box to let the students in.
Akira and Asagi stood up. They want to get into the open box-truck.
Yamada who was still frozen was pulled by Haruka. The ponytail girl realized that Yamada was being weird at that time.
Everyone had entered except for Tanaka. Hundreds of zombies were already dozens of meters away from the truck.
"Yuki, everything is ready!"
Tanaka gets into the truck. He is the driver.
"Tanaka, seat belt!"
Yuki reminded. The two of them sat in the front while the students got into the box-truck.
"Yuki... Thank goodness you're okay!"
Tanaka put on his seat belt and rubbed Yuki's cheek. The girl blushed from nervousness.
"Th-It's nothing!"
Out of nervousness, Yuki answered vaguely. Tanaka smiled and returned his focus to the front.
The truck is moving. His goal is to the boarding house where Tanaka and Yuki live.
Base of the Fire-Nebula Camp.
~~~
"Yamada, what happened to you?"
Inside a dark box, Haruka asked the person she is currently holding. That's Yamada.
"...It's okay. I'm just a little scared of something!"
There was a long pause before Yamada answered. Haruka knew that the bespectacled man is a serious person. She still wanted to know what is on his mind right now.
"Afraid of what?"
"That man!"
Haruka fell silent hearing Yamada's answer. Yamada's short answer made her realize many things.
The girl knew that Yamada is a very strong person. In addition to having strong strength and reflexes, Yamada also relies on his instincts. This is information that only Yamada and Haruka might know.
"Why are you afraid?"
Haruka still wanted to know for sure. She knew that the man who could survive the zombie crowd is strong. However, to Haruka, Yamada wasn't someone who was that easy to bully.
"He's no ordinary strongman. I can feel it! He's hiding something behind himself!"
Haruka still couldn't understand what Yamada was saying.
The only light that came in came from a few small gaps in the truck's metal wall. Darkness predominates all around.
Even so, Haruka still knew that Yamada was still shaking until now.
"Yamada...it's okay. I'll take care of you now. For this ones, you can leave it to me!"
Haruka tried to comfort Yamada. She was about to take on Yamada's responsibilities as group leader.
The bespectacled man back to his mind. He was about to ignore his responsibilities as group leader. He couldn't do it.
"No Haruka! I'll still take that responsibility!"
Yamada convinced himself. The feeling of terror that the man named Tanaka would become an enemy vanished for a while. He returned to his true self. Someone who is calm.
"But, Yamada. You-"
"Thank you, Haruka!"
Haruka's words were cut off by Yamada's thanks.
"I'll try to keep us safe. Anywhere we will be!"
Yamada slightly exclaimed. The group leader returned to his vision.
~~~
"Are you feeling sick, Yuki?"
Tanaka asked as he drove. He wondered if the girl had been injured or not.
"No... Just a little numb in here..."

Yuki answered as she showed the back of her neck. Tanaka didn't see any external wounds.
"Here, let me cuddle it..."
Tanaka's left hand slipped off the steering wheel and landed in the area indicated by Yuki. He petted her.
With no other moving vehicles on the road, Tanaka doesn't have to worry about being more relaxed while driving. His right hand can move the steering wheel agilely.
The streets are full of zombies and corpses. The corpses were zombies killed by Tanaka.
The road after the bridge. The street where Tanaka often passed to pick up things at the convenience store.
"Hey Tanaka, there's a zombie whose chest is open. Don't forget to kill it later okay!"
Yuki saw a female zombie who was not wearing clothes. A zombie that Tanaka didn't kill for some reason.
"Haha, fine..."
Tanaka stopped stroking Yuki's neck. He knew that right now, Yuki is in a bad mood after seeing that beautiful female zombie.
Not a long drive from after the bridge. After all, it was a path that Tanaka often took.
The truck arrived in front of the boarding gate.
"Ah!"
Tanaka realized something.
"We have to hide that mutant hand... right?"
Yuki tried to guess while turning her face. Tank's mutant hand that Tanaka put in the middle of the field was something too flashy.
"Wait a minute... okay!"
Tanaka came out to get rid of the thing.
There is a hidden motto in Fire-Nebula Camp. It is the non-members of the camp should not know the secret of the strength of this camp.
Obviously, the existence of that mutant hand was a very striking proof. Thus, Yuki and Tanaka knew what to do.
The mutant hand has been removed. Tanaka put the truck into the boarding house.
Not a single zombie dared to enter. This is because there really aren't any zombies around that can even move to do that.
"Alright, everyone out!"
Tanaka opened the box door. Tanaka could see the piercing gaze of a girl inside. The girl named Haruka.
One by one the students came down from the stuffy place. Tanaka ushered them into a downstairs room.
"Okay Yuki, as usual please cook something for them to eat. Even if it's the end of the day, we still have to give food to the guests. I'll go upstairs to see Taki's condition first... okay good!"
Tanaka explained to Yuki. The girl who had just put down the MP4 nodded, understanding Tanaka's order.
After Tanaka left, Yuki picked up some food from the warehouse.
"Huh... you really are too kind, Tanaka,"
Yuki muttered. She remembered her first experience when she met Tanaka. The person who are too kind to be able to survive in the world full of chaos.
~~~
"Are you sure about this Haruka?"
"Yes. If I don't return in ten minutes, you must force your way out of here, Yamada!"
Yamada and Haruka were currently discussing very quietly. Akira who was near them joined in.
"Hey Haruka. I think this is too dangerous. If they find out about you, we could be affected too!"
"Then do you think I will allow myself to be their prisoner! I don't want any of that fucking thing be happen!"
Haruka replied while fiddling with the keyhole. She tries to open the door to get out of there.
Prisoner of villians.
That's what the students were thinking right now. They end up being held captive by a camp which is likely to conspire with villians.
The lock successfully opened. Now Haruka can go out to find something that can save them.
"Listen Yamada. When they come in here, you should knock out of them as much as possible!"
"Okay, I understand!"
Haruka went out. There was no one guarding the front gate of the camp.
"Haruka... be careful!"
Haruka looked at Yamada.
Haruka's goal now is weapons. She was looking for it to guarantee her group safety.
The weapon Haruka was looking for wasn't just any weapon either. It is a firearm which most likely stored in one of the rooms.
That's what Haruka thought.
One by one the rooms on the first floor were peeked at by Haruka. She used the window at the back to peek.
"Not in here,"
Haruka had already peeked into three rooms. The three of them didn't have anything there.
That was until Haruka peeked into room number six. She saw something that is too strange to be called normal.
"Isn't that the body part of the Tank Mutant!"
She saw it. The secret that the Fire-Nebula Camp is trying to hide.
Hands that are roughly the same size as an adult's body. Hands covered with very hard iron.
Haruka thought of something. Something she was trying not to remember.
"Makise..."
She remembered her friend.
"He's not just a lucky person!"
Haruka remembered the incident earlier when Tanaka entered the hospital. Haruka thought, he was just lucky to be able to survive the crowd. A lucky person wasn't something Haruka was looking for.
She needed a strength. The girl was really desperate to find someone strong. Yamada is indeed very strong. However, Haruka needed something stronger than Yamada for something.
Haruka found it. He is Tanaka Hijimori or what Haruka knows as Tanaka.
"First, he can go in and out of the hospital intact. Second, Yamada is afraid of him. Third, the Tank Mutant body parts in the camp he lives in... this is not any fucking simple mere coincidence!""
Haruka found it. A conclusion from her initial doubts.
"I have to use this as advantage!"
Haruka said in front of a window of a room. She was now peering into the other room. She found nothing but a food warehouse and a tool shed.
"Shit, there's no gun here. Maybe it's on the top floor!"
Haruka failed to get the thing she needed. The voices of the people at the top continued to be heard. Yuki didn't dare to try to go there.
In Haruka's ears, upstairs there was the sound of something like someone cooking. Also, the voice of a woman who seemed to scream in pain.
The voice of a girl being tortured, that's what Haruka had in mind.
Stifled voice.
"Shit, will I be able to do this?"
Haruka had doubts. She is currently under mind of consideration.
Can a villian as well as a torturer be negotiated to help her?
That's what Haruka thought.
She thought that the woman's voice was a prisoner that being tortured or perhaps being raped. However, in reality it was Taki's voice being treated in her infected part.
Haruka then moved to return to the room. Tells that the mission failed.
However, before she could return to the front door, Yuki walked out of the room and was already on the stairs. A place that allows someone to see the entire front of the first floor room.
"Damn it!"
~~~
Yuki walked leisurely up the stairs. Descend the height of the stairs one by one.
"Fu~fu~fu~"
Still with terrible Yuki's do the whistling. She then put the food outside.
"Yosh. Just call them and Tanaka!"
Yuki went to the front door of the room where the students were gathered.
Yuki then unlocked the door. Or maybe not.
"Eh, I haven't locked it yet?"
Yuki asked herself. She remembered that the door was locked.
Light comes in. It was Yuki who opened the door.
"All of you come out. I've prepared food for... Wait, where's that rude girl?"
Yuki enters and tries to tell the students. However, the number of people she saw inside was three. The original number should have been four people and the ones that disappeared were Haruka or the rude girl according to Yuki.
Yamada had wanted to attack Yuki. However, seeing that the woman's hand was so close to the gun made him hesitate.
"Aghh, you just guys go out first. I'll find that girl!"
Yuki exited the room and headed to another room. Yuki thought that Haruka had managed to get out because of the door she forgot to lock.
Yamada approached the back part of Yuki's body silently. That was until Haruka came up from behind the boarding house.
"I'm here if you're looking for me!"
Haruka told her the location. She's at the bottom of the stairs.
Haruka and Yamada looked at each other. Haruka shook his head indicating that their mission had failed. One nod, which meant that Yamada didn't have to do what Haruka asked him to do.
A request to knock out anyone who enters the room.
"What do you do there!"
Yuki asked. She felt suspicious towards Haruka, aka rude girl by her viewpoint.
"Didn't do anything. I was just going to the bathroom and-"
"The bathroom is over there!"
Yuki cut off Haruka's words while pointing towards the bathroom of the boarding house outside.
Haruka couldn't reason.
"Also, each room has a bathroom... Aghh, forget it. I already made some food for you guys! Hurry up here!"
Yuki again carried out Tanaka's orders. It was an order to give the students food.
