《Must I Go Out to Survive This?》Chapter 10 - Bless & Companion

[Hey, don't you feel weird?]
Say something else from inside the girl.
"What do you mean?"
The girl replied in confusion. Shee herself didn't really understand what her other self meant.
[That man, he's too suspicious!]
"You mean Tanaka-san? He looks fine to me,"
said the girl in denial. The girl in casual clothes is now preparing lemon tea with the available glass.
[No, I mean don't you find it weird?]
"No,"
replied the girl.
[Aghh, that guy is too good for someone like you Yuki! I suspect that he might be more dangerous than a rapist!]
The other's instigated against Yuki. The girl actually didn't really care what the other said at the moment. She was too focused on her drink proposition.
[I know you can already ignore me. However, let me tell you something. Confirm that man's strength and try your best to make use of it!]
Yuki heard that. She is also actually quite curious as to how Tanaka was able to casually come out where people would normally be surrounded by zombies if they made a sound.
In Tanaka's case, he didn't bring any zombies with him at all even though he often came quite openly.
Yuki came out with two drinks and some snacks. It was evening, or rather evening.
Yuki looked to the right and saw Tanaka was there.
"I'm coming!"
Tuki said in a rather low voice, but Tanaka could hear. This high school girl is very careful about the noise she makes so as not to lure zombies around.
"Okay!"
In contrast to Tanaka who was for some reason very relaxed in answering.
Yuki honestly wanted to tell Tanaka that his voice was too loud and might provoke zombies. However, she felt that she should be more polite towards Tanaka because of the various things he had been given. Yuki ignores that and just hopes that the zombies don't come.
Yuki placed the drinks and food beside Tanaka who was sitting on the stairs. It was a seat that for some reason the two of them often used.
"The stars are visible!"
Tanaka said telling about the state of the sky. Yuki who heard it also saw.
The sky seemed to be open with clouds surrounding it. The light of the crescent moon looked a bit dim, but still illuminated the surroundings. On the blackboard of space, that was where the star beads were scattered.
"Yes, it is very beautiful,"
Yuki's impression of the current skyscape. Thanks to reduced pollution, the sky becomes more transparent. This makes stars and other light easier to see with the naked eye.
Tanaka was both excited and nervous at that time. Glad to have someone to accompany him at a time like this. Nervous because the one he hangs out with is a high school girl who has a very good body.
Yuki also felt very happy and sad at the same time. Glad that she has someone she can depend on at times like this. Sad that she couldn't find out about her parents' condition and sad because she didn't know what to do.
"Some of those stars certainly have planets orbiting them. Maybe some of those planets have the same conditions as us today,"
said Tanaka subconsciously. He was fascinated by the beauty of the sky that night.
Yuki who heard it only knew the part that stars sometimes have orbiting planets. Same with the sun. However, she wasn't sure which part of the planet had conditions similar to Earth's.
Tanaka continued his talk about stars. Yuki didn't really understand that, but he listened anyway.

After talking for a while, an important question popped up in Yuki's mind. Did Tanaka actually not care about zombies or what.
Tanaka told a long story, the sound he made was actually loud enough that perhaps a 'neighbor' from fifty meters away could hear it. Yuki was a little worried, but since none of the zombies had come to them, it meant that Tanaka had some kind of special ability.
In times of apocalypse like this, there is a special event that happens close together. It was an ability that some humans had acquired. A special ability like a magic called 'bless'.
Maybe Tanaka has something like that so he can get out of the safe headquarters of the boarding house freely. That's what Yuki thought was about to ask about it.
"...By the way Tanaka-san, are you a blessed one?"
Yuki asked. Tanaka, who had thought about the possibility of a question like this, answered lightly.
"What if I say yes?"
Questions answered with questions. Yuki put on an 'oh, I see' face in front of Tanaka.
Tanaka himself wasn't really sure that he was blessed or not.
Blessed or the owner of bless has the ability with certain physical characteristics. It is a kind of tattoo on the body whose size can be said to be quite large.
However, Tanaka didn't have a single thing like that in his body. To have such power, Tanaka also thought that it was a kind of bless.
Therefore, Tanaka speculated that the tattoo was on his body organ or some other hidden place. So, for now Tanaka could only confirm that he only had the ability without knowing whether it was bless or not.
"Then that explains why Tanaka-san can be so strong against zombies and dares to go out with things... Ah, sorry, I didn't mean to belittle you because you have a bless. It's just that, well, I can say it was a stroke of luck, didn't it, "
Yuki was confused to explain. She realized that her words sounded like underestimating Tanaka's abilities if he didn't use bless.
Hearing that, Tanaka felt that was indeed the case. He used to be a super weak hikikomori who couldn't even fight a single zombie.
However, it was thanks to this mysterious ability that he was able to survive and even benefit greatly from this phenomenon. Who doesn't want free food and just take it on the spot. That was what Tanaka thought would be the main use of his abilities.
"That's okay, it does feel a bit cheated doesn't it that other people are blessed and you don't. I'm just lucky and with this luck, I will make this Fire-Nebula Camp a place for survivors to live... I want to help others, that's including you Yuki!"
The words that Tanaka spoke reached Yuki's feelings. She didn't expect that the person who was initially mistaken for someone with a certain 'intention' would actually say something so gentle.
However, she didn't let her guard down and tried to appear to believe those words by harboring a certain suspicion towards Tanaka. The hikikomori man didn't notice.
"By the way Tanaka-san, what abilities did you get?"
Yuki asked. It was related to the 'bless' that Tanaka got.
Tanaka was at a loss for an answer. He actually wanted to keep this ability a secret because it was too overpowered for him. However, the time when others would find out about this secret would definitely come and Tanaka felt it would be fine to share that information with his fellow Fire-Nebula Camp members. The only other member in the camp for now.

"I'll answer. But promise me you won't tell anyone and you won't feel weird about me!"
Tanaka told. Yuki who heard that was a little suspicious, but she still nodded her head indicating that she agreed with it.
"I promise!"
Yuki spoke as Tanaka sighed to say his line. Yuki herself wasn't sure that she could say that to other people.
"I have the ability to be ignored by zombies!"
Tanaka said a little loudly. This made Yuki panic a bit because he was afraid to provoke zombies and at the same time think about many things.
'Ignored zombies?'
Yuki asked in his mind. She was currently trying to check around whether any zombies were coming or not. However, her brain processed information differently towards the phrase 'ignored zombies'.
"Ah, so that's the reason why no zombies are coming towards us even after you speak so loudly!"
Yuki said rather softly after some time of thinking. This explains why Tanaka was able to get out, carry a lot of stuff and survive the events.
Tanaka who heard that nodded towards Yuki. He just realized that loud talking sounds can attract zombies around. This answered his question about the reason why Yuki always spoke quietly.
"Sorry, I always talk too loud!"
Tanaka said to Yuki softly. He brought his head closer to Yuki so that his voice could be heard clearly.
"Relax, you weren't detected by zombies, were you? It means that no matter how loud your voice is, the zombies will most likely think of it as the wind, hehe,"
whispered Yuki explained. Some shards of mystery for Yuki have been answered.
Yuki recalled some of the previous events. It was the occurence where Tanaka went outside casually walking like he was on a safe street.
Tanaka however still wasn't sure whether he was blessed or not. He looked at Yuki and thought of something.
Tanaka started to take off his clothes. Yuki reacted in surprise seeing that.
"W-wait, Tanaka-san! Is being naked your hobby?"
Yuki asked. This incident was similar to the first time Yuki met this hikikomori man.
"Ah, no, I'm not like that. I just want to double-check whether I have tattoos on my body or not. You should already know that the recipients of the Bless have tattoos on their bodies,"
Tanaka explained. He wanted Yuki to come check for the presence of tattoos on the young man's body.
"Ah, is that so. Then, I'll go first!"
Said Yuki who almost left her place.
"No, you helped with the search. Yesterday I couldn't find the tattoo and it's probably on the back!"
It was clear which Tanaka while stopping Yuki's steps. Now the virgin girl is also looking at the body of the virgin man to look for tattoos.
A situation that made Yuki's face turn red from embarrassment at the sight of a bare-chested man's body.
After some time checking, Tanaka and Yuki couldn't find any tattoos on the hikikomori man's body.
"This is weird. Is there any chance it's in other parts of the body... say..."
Yuki looked at the part of Tanaka's pants which revealed that there was a possibility that it was behind that place. Tanaka who noticed it laughed slightly at Yuki's blushing face.
"You saw it yesterday too right, it wasn't there!"
Tanaka's teasing which made Yuki hit him in the leg.
"In that case, the possibility that it is inside the body?"
Yuki said trying to think of other possibilities.
"That's what I thought too!"
Tanaka replied who agreed with Yuki's words.
Tanaka put his clothes back on and sat down next to Yuki.
"Well, no matter where this come from, I'm still very grateful for this ability. If I didn't have this, I wouldn't have survived my first encounter with zombies in front of the convenience store,"
Tanaka said casually. Yuki listened and they grew closer in terms of socializing. At first the two of them were not easy to talk casually with other people like this.
Apocalypse changes people. Or indeed from the start, a quiet person would be suitable to talk to other quiet people.
Tanaka took another drink. It was the last sip.
"By the way Tanaka-san, do you want to make some kind of rule in this camp? A camp needs rules, right?"
Yuki asked. It was her way of ascertaining what she had to do in the camp.
"Hmmm... the rules. Let's just say that the rule for now is to be nice to fellow members. That's what we're doing too, isn't it,"
replied Tanaka casually. He actually hadn't really thought through the rules that would be applied since this camp only consisted of two people.
"All right, then what is the purpose of our camp?"
Yuki continued to ask. The thing that caught her attention was still unanswered.
"Is that so. For me it's just survival like we're doing right now. Gathering food, other items and enlarging the base. That's the goal of our camp, Yuki!"
Tanaka explained.
Yuki tries to figure it out while figuring out what she must do to help the camp's cause. She couldn't come out because she was too weak and too scared. All she could do in the camp was clean and cook. To her, those two abilities weren't useful enough to help Tanaka.
"Then do you have any work for me to do, camp master?"
Yuki asked to be more certain of that. She was originally a rather selfish girl and tried to survive at all costs in this apocalypse state.
However, her meeting with Tanaka really made her feel more at ease to be her normal self. Become a new person who is not tied to the past.
"Hmmm, whatever you do as long as you don't mess with our base, this boarding house, just what kind of abilities do you have?"
Tanaka asked to be sure. He, who was not clear about Yuki's abilities, asked her so that he could give her assignment more clearly.
"About skills... um, I can only do simple housework like cooking, cleaning and know a little bit about hydroponics and fast growing plants!"
Yuki explained.
Tanaka tried to analyze. To him, it was quite a formidable ability for a high school girl.
"Okay, then I can leave the homework at the boarding house to you. You can, right?"
Said Tanaka which made Yuki feel more relieved.
"Fine, I'll do it every day!"
Yuki answered. She felt very happy because she could be useful and recognized.
"By the way Yuki, if you want to plant or make a project, tell me what items you need. You already know that this ability of mine is perfect for gathering things from around."
Tanaka bargained with Yuki. The man also wanted to try to be useful to the camp in his own way.
A way that only Tanaka could possibly do.
"Hehe, that's a good thing. Then, I'll just ask for vegetables so I can make a healthy meal. We can't keep eating cup noodles right,"
Ask Yuki towards Tanaka directly. Tanaka felt a bit offended since he was a person who in at least half a year had only eaten cup noodles.
"Alright, just leave it to me!"
Tanaka said it proudly. Just as Yuki felt that she had become more useful, Tanaka who was a former hikikomori also felt that way.
"It's good to have a bless,"
Yuki's impression was feeling a bit envious. She looked at Tanaka and froze for a moment before her eyes blinked.
"Yeah, I'm very lucky. I'm sure this is meant for something too."
replied Tanaka who avoided Yuki's envious gaze. The girl who said that had just realized that her words sounded too offensive.
However, Tanaka's gaze convinced her that he had no problem with that sentence. Tanaka was the type to know that it was normal to be envious of others.
After all he also often felt that way. Envy of other people's lives and success.
That way the two of them spent some time together outside for a bit longer. Now they know each other better.
That's how the relationship between the two members of the Fire-Nebula Camp is. The relationship has just entered a new stage.
