《It's hard being the fourth wheel in a love triangle》3 - Giant's Bane

The King's degree came. He wasn't even there in person.
"Leonel and Eliza from Lis village are to be given special training. A special trainer will be dispatched. When they 15 years old, they can go on the quest to kill the Demon Lord."
So, the King delays it by 2 years.
He better has. They are children. And yet, when hearing the news, both children was disappointed.
"What is wrong with you? The King is right. We are still children, at least get training before you go and risk your life."
"I am worried."
"What is it Leonel?" Eliza asks.
"During our two years of training, just how many soldier lives will be sacrificed for that amount of time?"
"Leonel..."
Ayva stares at them. This is not something a 13 years old should be worried about damn it. Last night too, when he came home, even his parents, Leonel and Eliza family was glad that the hero was born in their family.
However, Ayva feels that it is a bit fucked up that his own family was secretly glad that their children was not born the hero, having to risk his life for the country. On one hand, it aligns with his world view, however, he just feels really bad about Leonel, Eliza and their family. And yet the two didn't seem to be worry at all.
Suddenly, Leonel grips his fist.
"However, Ayva is right. All of those people who has sacrificed for us, we have to show them that their sacrifice was not in vain"
Is this really fine?
However, Ayva's voice was overruled by society and the children.
The Knight and the Wizard arrives to the quiet village of Lis one week after that.
Leonel and Eliza immediately went on training. The Knight for Leonel and the Wizard for Eliza. As Ayva remembers, there was not even one healer among the NPCs in the game, so in real life, there was not many priest class magician that can train Eliza too.

However, Wizard could also heal, only, their heal is a bit weaker. That is to say, it is useless in the end game, healing only 30-50 HP every time on one target. However, he is still the most relevant teacher for Eliza.
The Knight and Wizard arrive on serious business. They did not interact with anyone else except for their charge, Leonel and Eliza. Ayva didn't understand. If they were really hero and saintess, wouldn't it be better for them to come to the capital city?
Perhaps the King has a bit softness in his heart, and indeed wanted the children to stay with their family as long as they could.
Ayva didn't care, for the first few days, he could only look.
Then he went home. And then he thought about his life up to that point.
He didn't even learn the Knight and the Wizard's name. He just called them Knight and Wizard. For a time, he has thought about drifting away, letting them go on such a foolhardy quest.
Then the memory floods back and he cries. Ayva was close to the breaking point, however, he remember that he too, is "Ayva" in the end. He remembers all the memories with Leonel and Eliza, his childhood friend. He remembers having fun, but now that was so far away.
The memory floods back, and he stood up.
Equipping with an item from inventory, Ayva shakily stands up. Slowly he moves toward the training field where Leonel and Eliza was.
The Knight saw him from the corner of his eyes. Even though he saw that the child was holding a weapon, he didn't react. It was a rusted dagger that doesn't glint in the light. Ayva knows that this was the only weapon that would conspicuous enough to use.
When he saw him, Leonel ran toward him with a smile on his face.

'You are finally joining us.'
Eliza was clapping too.
"Now now children, I know he is your friend, but I don't just train anybody." The knight states clearly looking at Ayva. He didn't like the boy. He acted too much like a coward for his liking. And the moment, he came, he was carrying a coward's weapon, a rusted knife.
That is to say, he was afraid that this child, this Ayva will have bad influence on Leonel.
At that moment, Ayva was looking at him, or more accurately, his status page.
"Knight
HP: 750
Damage: 50
Hit: 1
Can use: Sword, Mace, Heavy Armor"
An average guard in the capital has 500 HP so he is above them, but Ayva is not sure.
More importantly, he can deal 50 damage per turn. If it landed, it will almost end Ayva in one hit.
But...
"I don't approve of your personality." The knight gestures at Ayva. Ayva stares up at the Knight's dismissive tone.
"One round."
"Huh?"
"One round. If I win, you will go."
"What is this kid saying?"
Ayva was confident with this body. The body of his minmaxed avatar.... even though it was a cute girl in game. Ayva also puts on a special leather armor before hand. Almost everything else was too heavy for a child to wear, so different from the game in that everyone can wear anything if they have the right stat and class.
A Lord is supposed to be able to equip everything.
However, he is still only a children, but he supposes he should be able to put on the armor as best as he could.
He looks up at the knight, the knight stares back
Then Ayva jumps at him.
"Fuck you."
The act surprises the Knight. However, surprises never quite reach.
"Ayva!" He heard someone screams
Then a sword comes near him.
Ayva ducks underneath it.
The sword comes back again because he slows down due to the adrenaline rush
Ayva squeeze through it. He was sure that he was never going to lose a purely physical confrontation to this knight, level one or not. Of course when magic comes into play, Ayva will be useless as he is now. However-
GIANT'S BANE Class: Magic Requirement: 13 STR (Wizard 10) Type: Dagger Damage: 5-15 Piercing: 1 Accuracy: +30% Critical: 20% chance Enhancement: 2 STR
Damage +3 Effective: Giant (x4) A dagger found at a destroyed Giant encampment
One. Connected.
Two. Connected.
Three. Connected.
The Giant enchantment didn't trigger even though he was a child fighting against an adult who might as well be a giant, however, the Knight was on the ground, clutching his chest.
The Wizard immediately rushes over to heal him
"How are you suppose to send us to war if you send such shitter to train us? Did you think we were children and so easily fooled?"
However, after it is all said and done, everyone was looking at him, however, it was not the eyes of attention, it is the eyes that said "What have you done?"

Glitched! Uplift Arc
[Winner of the April 22 Royal Road Writathon Challenge] In 2202 the System reached Earth. Thankfully it had learnt from previous uplifts and implemented an introductory arc to acclimatise the new participants rather than chucking them in the deep end. The previous practice of just dumping unsuspecting beings into a System designed for the growth of the multiverse had led to catastrophic and sub-optimal results. The return on investment was abysmal. That old trope was so over-cooked - after nearly extinguishing itself through negative returns new policy was required. That was 356 trillion local years back. Now over 5600 successful uplifts had joined the ranks of the multiverse. But the System was always learning, always growing. Still there were glitches. Mostly minor. Mere irritants really. Sometimes even they were catalysts, triggering a fresh expansion. Soon the System would understand why. Our Earth was 7912th. - Ascend - Battle - Challenge - Dominate - Expand - Gro... - Glor... - Where’s the eff word? - Glitch... File corrupted. ---END SYN---
