《A Vampire's Complications》Chapter Fifteen

I went straight to Ricky's apartment the moment I got back to Seadonna Tower. It took a while for the jealousy of how much bigger his place was compared to mine to wear off. It faded more once he told me that he has always lived in the apartment for his entire life. Mine was like a small bedroom apartment while his had two bedrooms. Other than that everything thing else was the same except his kitchen was more open while mine was a tiny little room.

"So what did you talk to Donny about?" Ricky asked as he sat down on the couch in the living room. I had placed myself in one of the chairs. Ashley was missing from the whole apartment, most likely comforting Amanda.

"He dragged me out to inform me that one of the Seadonna's are mated with a Shidonna," I told him. Making him let out a curse, "Sounds like you were afraid of that."

"I just don't understand how Nana can never be wrong," he mentions, "But she never said who it would be. But it is to symbolize the start of the families finally coming back together."

It made sense to me. During my talk with Donny, he did mention that he wasn't as evil as everyone made him seem to be. All he had was a really bad temper. But how much was the truth out of what Donny had told me?

"Did you find out about your father?" Ricky suddenly asked.

I nodded my head, "Turns out Donny only lied to bring me out of the tower so he could talk to me without starting a fight."

"It was probably something our father taught him when we were kids. Always know your enemy's weakness," I heard Ricky say.

Ricky and I talked a little bit more until Ashley came into the apartment. She looked tired and dragged out. It felt like I didn't need to stay any longer, so I got up from where I was sitting. Ashley directed me to sit back down and told Ricky to leave. He only smiled as he did what he was told.

With a plop onto the couch, Ashley let out a heavy sigh, "Is he saveable or is he a lost cause?"

It took my a while to figure out who she was talking about, "Donny?" she nodded, "He seems fine. Had to explain to me that he isn't as evil as everyone sees him."

Ashley rolled her eyes, "And the whole nearly killing his brother and David in your hometown was just the other evil twin."

Her sarcastic tone made me giggle.

"Anyways, I talked to Ricky about us switching apartments," she suddenly said.

I looked at her in shock, "Why?"

"Because that tiny little 'room' of yours is too small to raise any children in. You need the two bedrooms more than we do," she answered.

"What if you guys need this apartment for you kids?" I heard myself ask and then instantly regretted it.

The sad look on Ashley's face was not something I wanted to see on her, "We aren't having any kids. It's just not in the books for us."

I felt bad for even bringing it up. It completely escaped my mind that Ashley has been having trouble getting pregnant and when she was, it doesn't take long for her to miscarry. It can only be assumed that her life before this one is the reason for that kind of heartache.

"I'm sorry, Ashley," I apologized.

"It's fine. I'm used to it by now but still hopeful for a miracle," she said with a sad smile. The temptation to get up and hug her was strong, but knowing her, she wouldn't want that kind of pity, "Anyways, you agree to the switch? If you do, I'll start making the arrangements."

"Do I really have a choice?" I joked with her. Trying to lighten the mood.

She patted me on the knee as she responded, "Nope. Because I already started."

It was so typical of Ashley to do something like that. She made it look like I had a choice when she already had other place. It was like that when she used to babysit me. She would give me two options of either going to bed or stay up to get scolded by my parents. I always had to choose what was the lesser evil when I was a child. Back then going to bed was a lot better than facing my parents.

Figuring my visit was now over, I got up from where I was sitting. Ashley looked at me and pointed out that my clothes had gotten a little bit bigger. It was true. It felt like over night all of my clothes were to small to fit my growing belly. So far I was lucky enough to still be able to wear the majority of the pants in my closet.

"You're about six months now, right?" Ashley mentioned as she stood up with me and walked me to the door, "They will start growing now and you will probably feel like you can't keep up with them. I'll drop off some leggings for you along with some oversized hoodies. Amanda only had to carry one child in her belly, I can only imagine you will be twice as big with two."

"Don't remind me," I groaned. Making Ashley laugh as I walked out of the apartment and went to my own.

"Expect the switch to be complete after the twins are born. Okay?" Ashley yelled across the hall. I just waved at her before entering my quiet space.

I looked around and still thought my place looked like a small hotel suite compared to Ricky's place. Still wanting to call it a room even after I learned that it was actually a small apartment. The whole building was full of them and the places that weren't apartments were offices. The only floor that didn't have any apartments what the lobby area. That was used to house the elevators and small shops needed to run the tower.

There was a soft knock on the door, that I was surprised that I even heard it. With a sigh I went to answer it, only to see David on the other side. It felt so long since the last time I saw his face.

"Can we talk?" he asked hesitantly, "I stopped by earlier but you were talking to Ricky at that time."

Nodding my head, I let him enter. Making him close the door behind him as I went to sit on the couch that seemed to be the spot I always sat in. David took a seat on a chair nearby and he looked uncomfortable being here. Like he was scared that I was going to chew him out or something like that.

"I want to apologize for my behavior," he suddenly said, "I haven't given you any reason to like me since the day we first met."

That was something I couldn't agree with him more on, but he did have his moments. But for as long as I knew him, he was always hovering and trying to make me see this supposed connection between us. I actually appreciated the space he had given me for the past few days, if not weeks.

"Believe it or not, but Ashley gave me an eye opening talk a few days ago," he confessed, "She explained that the more I try to force you into something, the more I was going to lose you. So I just want us to set up some boundaries. That way we can be on the same page. I really do want us to work, Leah."
