《A Vampire's Complications》Chapter Eleven

Honestly, I don't know what I had expect to be different when they said I was going to start going to classes to learn more about the Seadonna family. My classes actually took place at a university a few blocks away from Seadonna Tower. It was amazing how out in the open the Seadonnas were when it came to education, but the thing I noticed is that the classes that were meant for just the Seadonna family were considered "special classes".
Some classes were even out in the open with the title like "Mythology of Vampirism". There was even a history class that focused on the history of Romania. I only knew about the none special classes because they were the classes I had to take part in. Also to make things a little bit easier for me to find my way around, Derik shared the same schedule as me. Which also meant that I would be seeing him a lot more than I really intended to.
Currently I was sitting in one of my "special classes" waiting for it to start. Derik decided to sit in a different part of the classroom, much to my disappointment. I was hoping that if the class was boring enough I would at least have someone to talk to. Instead I ended up sitting in a back corner farthest from the door, while he sat in the front at the opposite side. Like he was ready to make a quick getaway if he needed to.
Unsure what to do, I just decided to write randomly in my notebook. We had come early incase we got lost, but Derik navigated through the city like he had been doing it most of his life. He probably has been ever since his father contacted him. Now I had nothing to do until the class started because someone decided he didn't want to sit next to me.

The sound of someone sitting next to me made me look up to see who it was. Annoyance instantly flared up as I saw who it was.
"Why are you here?" I asked David as he leaned back in his chair.
"I was bored," he told me as he started to play on his bored.
"So following me to class sounded like fun?" I pointed out to him.
David didn't answer, making me roll my eyes and return to what I was doing. Figuring that ignoring him was the best option right now. I know a part of me hadn't seen him for a while and was wondering where he was. But the other part was kind of glad that he was finally giving me space. Now he shows up out of no where without any warning.
"I thought you would show up here," I heard David say, making me look up. Seeing Ashley walking up to the row I was sitting in brought some ease to my mind. By looking at her face, I could see that something was troubling her.
"I need to know what I'm doing wrong," she mentioned as she directed David to get up with her hands so she could sit next to me. I was surprised to see him actually do it. Also I didn't miss the sympathetic look he was giving her.
"Didn't Doc explain to you why you are having so much trouble getting pregnant?" David mentioned. Causing Ashley to give him a glare that could literally kill. He sat in the row in front of us and in front of me after getting that look from her.
I ended up laying my hand on her shoulder with concern for my old friend, "Is everything okay?"
"I'm just being hopeful that they are wrong about them saying that I can't have any kids," she responded with a sad look on her face. Just hearing it broke my heart.

Trying to lighten the mood, I joked with her, "Do you want one of my kids. I'm sure two would be too much for me to handle."
David tried to hold in his laugh but Ashley only forced a small smile, "Thanks Leah. But it just isn't the same."
What Ashley was going through was something I couldn't imagine and neither did I want to. It was something I probably wouldn't even wish on my worst enemy. Just knowing that I was having twins just made me feel more sorry for her. The whole time while we waited for class to start, I just wished that there was a way for me to take her pain away.
Class went exactly how I thought it would. It was slow and boring. I'm even pretty sure that I ended up falling asleep at some point. I remember exactly nothing from what was talked about class today. Ashley had to be the one to wake me up and even handed me a copy of her notes. Earning a grateful smile from me.
It took me a while to realize that Derik and David were both not to be found. Ashley explained that they left halfway through the class due to getting a call from Boss. I guess even classes couldn't keep them from their job in protecting the family.
"It's the reason why David still has to take certain classes. Mike and Ricky are the same way. Protecting the family is the priority," she explained a little more as we left the class room and entered the hallway.
"Why Ricky?" I heard myself ask.
Ashley answered, "Because he didn't want to be the weak prince that everyone had to protect. He joined the Royal Guard so he knew how to protect himself."
Just hearing that made me respect Ricky more. It also made me want to make the same move as him, but I wouldn't be able to until after the twins were born. Having them cross my mind had me look down and place a hand on my bump. Making Ashley stop and look at me with a motherly smile.
"If you hadn't fallen asleep, you would know that all Seadonna girls are small for the majority of the pregnancy," she explained, "You don't really start showing until the last two months. You can even ask Amanda about that."
I can't believe I forgotten about Amanda the whole entire time I had been here. Last time I saw her was when Jack was dying and she was just going into labor. Just the whole thought made me feel like a bad friend and know that I should probably pay her a visit sometime.
As we walked closer to the entrance of the building to leave, Derik can through the doors and met with us. He quickly grabbed onto us and pulled us back towards the classroom we had just left. The look on his face told us to not question him until we were in the classroom. Something was wrong.
But Ashley knew what was going on the moment we entered the classroom and Derik closed the door. She grabbed on to his arm like it was her lifeline.
"Is Ricky okay?" she asked him in an almost pleading tone.
"He's fine, Ash." Derik reassured her, "He is the one that sent me to make sure you two stay safe."
"What is going on?" I asked him next.
He looked at me with a serious tone, "There is a shooting at Seadonna Tower. I will give you one good guess on who is behind it."
