Alice Windhorn POV:
Today I decided to clean a room of the house by myself, I didn't want the maids to clean it for me, because there, my husband and I kept various items that have a certain importance to us and we don't want the risk of someone breaking them.
I'm taking care of Elizabeth today, she changed so much in just 3 years... She was capable to talk already, then her eyes were like her father's, her eyes grey and they were brighter, they almost seemed inhuman, in all my life a color like this in some human eye was incredulous. Her eyebrows were arched and her nose was tiny.
Somehow her face seemed confident and almost like she knew most of the things she saw.
Her hair fell in a wavy motion, when she moves her hair their motion is like waves, then her hair is like mine, a very bright red. Since I was a kid many people told me that my hair color was
unreal, yet I was born with that color.
I'm taking her by her hand, she grew enough dependant and she doesn't need to be carried.
Meanwhile, we were walking towards the room, she was looking everywhere trying to analyze the entire house and corridors.
*She is curious...* I think in my head and smile.
it's not a bad thing to be curious, however, sometimes it can lead to something bad...
I shook my head trying to not remember.
Then, I feel the hand of Lisa tightening a bit.
Watching me in the eyes she asked, "Mom are you all right?" it felt like her eyes were watching through me when she asked me that.
"M-mh." I answer her trying to be convincing as I could.
Still, how could she note that fast that I was anxious?
We reach the door leading to the room, and I open it.

Inside there are various things that I and Josh used various years ago when we were still having adventures.
I started rummaging and cleaning, the room was full of dust, and cracks in the walls and it was dark even though a little small ray of light was coming from the only window, when I breathed the smell of mold and dust made me cough a few times, every step I do the floor creaks.
I started cleaning and seeing all those items felt nostalgic.
Then, I heard a sound.
*What is this sound?"
It seems like water is falling on the pavement.
*Wait... Please don't tell me that Elizabeth was the fault for this sound."
Gasping I say,"Lisa!" quickly walking towards her.
Then, I saw her raised hand, it was the cause of the sound.
Water was gushing out from her hand, I stare at her dumbfound and look around her and see a book.
I get closer to her and take the book that she was reading, then I realize it, this was the book I used to study mana from when I was 12.
"This book... My parents used to teach me about mana and magic when I was 12, do you... Understand what it's written in this book?" I look at her dumbfound while saying that.
"Not at all... Mother, I only read some words written in the book," she says with fatigue.
*How can she read something like that already? I and Josh indicated to her how some words are written but I never imagined that she could already say something written.
"Mom, can I borrow the book for studying it?" She asks.
*I don't know if I should make her take writing lessons, she has only 3 years and maybe taking writing lessons could stress her...*
"Mhh, I don't have any problems giving the book to you, but if you want to properly understand this book and many others, you will need other lessons to learn properly how to write, are you fine with that?" I said doubtfully.

"S-sure!" she says enthusiastically.
Some weeks passed and Lissa started to study how to understand writing.
I was in the main hall of the house with my husband and then heard a knock on the door.
I start to get up from my chair but Josh stops me.
Smiling he says, "Don't, I'll open the door." he gets up and reaches the door for opening it.
Then when he opened the door a tall man stood there.
"Hey there." He said in a somewhat menacious tone.
Then I realized who he was.
"Luke Clemence," Josh says.
We didn't were in good rapport with the Clemence family, they were nobles like us, and they didn't like us, one of our maids that worked there said they treated her in a bad manner.
Josh watches him in the same way and says, "For what reason did you come?", they were both spreading killing intent, the air around them felt heavy.
Smiling arrogantly Luke says, "Well, I just wanted to do a simple sparring with you, are you in?"
Smirking Josh responds, "Sure, why not."
"It's not a problem if my family sees the sparring that we are going to do, right?" Luke says.
"Not at all, well? Let's go." Josh responds annoyed.
They decided to do the sparring in our garden Luke called his family to come into our garden, meanwhile I take Lissa and Aria with me to watch the fight.
Josh and Luke are one in front of the other.
Luke was equipped with a sword almost as big as him, while Josh had a short sword, my husband wasn't the type to use swords to destroy or slice in a fight, he is a mage.
Luke had a full armor of iron and with various minerals that were only for decorations, Josh has a leather armor with just some iron plates in various important body parts.
A subordinate of Luke's bloodline walked into the center of the garden and announced the start.
Suddenly Luke dashed towards Josh at a monstrous speed counting his size, the blade wasn't for slicing things, but it was only immense and resistant to throw blows with big destructive power.
Josh dodged the hit of the man and rashly cast 3 fireballs that appeared behind him, the man parried two of the fireballs using his shoulder and arm and the other fireball with his sword.
Mana was surrounding their body, I see it really well.
Luke was slashing his sword, a red aura swallowed half of his sword and when he released the slash the mana that was in the sword reached and broken the ground towards Josh, my husband noticed the attack he raised his sword and the sword started to shine as if it was full of energy and it started scintillating, he dodged and hurled at the same time an electric beam from the point of his sword.
The electric beam reached Luke and destroyed most of his armor which caused his body to hurt under intense force.
Josh suddenly dashed towards him and cut up more of his armor so that his future attacks of him would injure him easily.
I was holding Lissa and Aria in my arms, Lissa is really surprised and Aria looked assort in the fight.
In the end, my husband won the sparring, Luke looked really angry while he was returning to his house.
The garden got destroyed, so later the maids adjusted it.

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
