《Fantasy into Fallout》Chapter 6

It’s been a few days since we came here. Just, the town was all desolate.
Jason and I were in a pub, drinking water.
“Why isn’t there any alcohol in a goddamn pub?” Jason asked. “This is close to obligatory!”
I stared at Jason. What the fuck is alcohol?
The bartender seems to understand what Jason was talking about. “Look here.” he began. “If you’re looking for trouble, then go elsewhere. This town doesn’t have enough sugar to waste on stuff like alcohol, no matter how keen you are on it.”
“What is alcohol?” I asked.
“Alcohol is something that numbs your mind.” Jason replied. “Tastes damn good, but only if it’s distilled properly.”
The bartender stared at Jason. “You seem to know your stuff. Well then, I used to be a distiller for the Federation. If you can get me some sugar, I guess I could brew a glass or two.”
“Why sugar?” I drank another gulp of stale water.
“Because that’s how you make alcohol.” The bartender filled my glass to the brink again. “Now scram, you had enough, and I doubt Thomas is willing to pay for everything.”
Ever since we’ve arrived here, Thomas has been helping us a lot, offering us sleep and meals whilst talking to Glenn about all of their recent happenings. Meanwhile we took the initiative to explore the town.
The town wasn’t that big, compared to Manhattan it was just a speck of dust amid the storm.
But, it had its charm. Like the old fortune teller also known as, the bartender, Max. His predictions were mostly correct, so that’s why everyone was worried when he said.
“Death’s coming to this town, we must evacuate!”
After that, almost everyone started packing all of their belongings and left the town.

That’s why Glenn and Thomas joined us in the bar.
“Why aren’t you leaving, Max?” Glenn asked as he readied his rifle.
“This is my home, I’m not leaving it. No matter what!” he said as he grabbed a pistol on the armories shelf. “People don’t even know how many of my visions fail.
“Alright people, when that shit bird gets here, let’s show it hell!” Thomas said as he grabbed a large gun lying underneath the counter next to him.
Glenn nodded. No matter what, he wasn’t leaving one of his old soldier buddies.
“Ash, grab the rifle on the top shelf, Jason you should grab that grenade launcher, if we’re unprepared against this cunt, we’re all gonna die!”
“Okay!” I said as I grabbed the rifle and the ammunition.
“Got it. What’s a grenade launcher?” Jason asked.
I sighed, grabbed the grenade launcher and gave it to him.
“If you pull the trigger, an explosion will occur, so don’t shoot it inside!” Thomas said.
“Imagine a bigger fireball when it hits. Bigger than yours.” I added.
Jason readied the grenade launcher. “Alright. Anything I’ve got to pay attention to?”
“The recoil.” Glenn said. “Kills all newcomers. Proper procedure says I shouldn’t leave you alone with a grenade launcher, but who cares.”
“Wow, you’re such a caring man, Glenn” Jason joked. “Is this the reason why your wives left you?”
Thomas laughed.
“Fuck you too, Jason!” Glenn just got grumpy.
“Let’s go!” Thomas stopped laughing.
“Ha ha, alright” Jason said as he continued laughing.
We left the bar and… we saw nothing.
The entire town was gone.
Crack
“Oh no…” Jason whispered.
“What the fuck is it?” Max said
“DEATH BRINGER, RUN!!!” I shouted as I fired my gun at the cracking noises.

BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG
“THE FUCK’S A DEATH BRINGER!!??” Thomas shouted over the gunfire.
“The scariest fuckers you’ve ever… not seen.” Jason said.
“What do you mean?, not seen?”
“They are invisible, fast and strong. ” I shouted over the gunfire.
“Shit!” Thomas said as he started shooting in the same direction.
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG
After what felt like ten minutes of shooting no further sounds could be heard.
“I-Is… is it dead?” Max whispered as he took a glass of water.
“I don’t know” I said, scared
“Can’t hear any cracking anymore” Thomas said, only to be interrupted by a loud
Crack
“FUCKING RUN!!!” Jason shouted as he shot fireballs towards the cracking.
“FIREBALL FIREBALL FIREBALL FIREBALL FIREBALL!!!”
“WHAT THE HELL!? YOU CAN FIRE FIRE!?” Thomas shouted.
“Don’t question it!” I said as I ran.
“ICICLE FIREBALL ICICLE FIREBALL!!!... Summon Skeleton” Jason said. A skeleton rose from the ground and stabbed at the invisible monster, some blue liquid came flowing out.
The liquid was just slightly glittering under the sun, but even from here I felt the depth of darkness contained within.
“JASON, RUN!!!” I shouted.
“Shit!, Summon skeleton. Summon skeleton. Summon skeleton.” Jason raised multiple skeletons from the earth. “They’ll distract it, GO!”
And we ran. The ground changed from sand to mud, water was streaming down from the Everfrost Mountain. Behind us distinct cracking sounds could be heard. I looked behind and saw water splashing around, running towards us quickly. It seems like the skeletons weren’t distracting it enough.
Until Jason stopped for a second and raised several skeletons, letting them run away from the river. “Let’s go over the river. I don’t know how good it can spot tracks, but his eyes seem to be good. How else could he see us through the settling dust? We might be able to shake him off.”
Did Jason just now say something intelligent? We crossed the river anyways.
After a few hours of running, Jason suddenly stopped and said.
“My base is around here.”
We are in front of an abandoned mine. Up front there were a lot of weird looking turrets, at least not shaped like our turrets at all.
And a familiar looking green troll.
“Welcome, to Valhalla.”

8 197The Fundamentals
You hear of many tales out there. Some depict worthy heroes wielding tremendous power, noble personas that fight to save the lives of their close friends, family, and all the rest. Good triumphs over evil, that is simply the way the world works, no? While this premise is something inherent to nearly all stories, what exactly the heroes used to attain success can differ greatly. Perhaps they've trained themselves to the limit, pushing past boundaries nobody else could hope to achieve. Others still, have merely inherited the grand legacy of another legendary being, but what they have done with such a legacy would cause their names to be passed on for generations. Rowan is one of the heroes who have ventured beyond the horizon, tempering themselves on a perilous journey all the while and succeeding in attaining strength beyond measure. However, in an unexpected turn of events, this strength caused him to tear open and fall through a hole in the realm he resided in. Now he has ended up in a completely foreign realm, whose inhabitants utilized strange powers that eclipsed his own. Fortune would smile upon him this day, however, as he discovered that they were not hostile, and even offered to teach him their ways. Rowan could see that this was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and eagerly accepted their invitation to learn what would come to be known as: The Fundamentals.
