《The tale of an undead armor (rewrite)》CH 10 the fallen temple : part 2

Why must I be the one to make all the decisions? It is fine for a few days, but it always ends up affecting me in a bad manner. It brings back a few bad memories. I never want to be a king again.
I have been directing the group for the last couple of days. Soldier four and soldier five who are the medics of the group have been trying everything that they can to save soldier three and soldier seven and they have been failing in both cases. soldier three's wounds are too heavy and the dark mana seems to be preventing the natural healing of the giant goblin. There is nothing much I can do in this case, except maybe kill him a bit earlier to put him out of his misery. Whatever the night wolves have done, let's just say he is suffering quite a bit.
Honestly speaking, I don't care too much about his life or death, I barely even know him. It would just be a pity if he were to die so prematurely. Right now, there are very few beings that I trust in this place. I don't trust any of the named ones(jack is the only exception. He is kind of like me, a lone wolf) or the titled ones. The elder is okay, he spends most of his time sleeping nowadays anyways. I think that the last time I talked to him was when I was getting information about the swamp.
He seems to be somewhat trustworthy, his kind of people are pretty straightforward in what they do. The ones that I hate are the type of people that know how to act, the ones that know when to bow and serve. They are the ones that are most capable of stabbing you in the back.
The goblin mage fits that position perfectly. I haven't interacted with her too much but I know that she is a capable leader. I have no ideas what her plans are and that scares me. I have seen many leaders, capable ones and incapable ones alike. I have seen so many that I have at the very least an idea of what they are doing.
Soldier two is getting better but the one that is worrying me the one the most is soldier seven. He is not the sturdiest of the bunch and He has been poisoned by some kind of poison and honestly, I have no idea what to do about him, he has been unconscious the last couple of days and has not shown any motion other than spasming once in a while and he has a fever.
According to the medics, soldier seven is in a critical situation. If an antidote is not acquired then, there is a pretty good chance that he will be killed. Anyway, soldier one is becoming a headache to deal with. He is worried about his soldiers, but right now is not a time for emotions. Right now all he wants to do is send a troop out in search of an antidote. A noble sentiment that will get them all killed. We are being hunted right. I don't know by what or by who, but we are being hunted. The night wolves that were attacking were just a bit too weak, I find it pretty hard that such weak beings were sent to deal with a first step being.

There are only two possibilities, over-eager youngsters or suicide troops. Either possibility does not lead to a good end. Right now I need the group focused and soldier one can't handle it for now.
The only other guy that could have any authority is jack and he is a loner. He definitely cannot keep the troop on track. He has the power to lead the group, but he will do a bad job of it.
That leaves me to take care of all the managing duties and I am hating every moment of it. Well, beggars can't be losers.
Anyway, the remnants of my troop have been working on the wall. It is a sturdy wall, which I must say is pretty well made for a bunch of goblins. These goblins might have the smartness to match with the humans, but their construction abilities in general tend to be pretty subpar, another reason that it is rare to see goblin empires.
But time and tide wait for no one. There are signs of wear on the wall. A few collapses here and there, nothing that can't be fixed with a few basic repairs. Let's just hope the goblins are not as bad of builders as I am expecting them to be.
There are three towers, out of which only two are intact enough for any kind of usage. Each of them has a tower with a turret. It is a kind of bow capable of shooting multiple arrows, at the rate of about a hundred arrows per minute. Not one of them is working, but if possible I want to repair them. It would be a useful addition to our defenses. Maybe that is why the night wolves destroyed the turrets. It has been completely totaled, most of the mechanisms were destroyed.
Other than that there are a few other weapons, but most of them are quite old and quite prone to breaking. Anyway, we don't have an army here, so other than a few bows and arrows there is nothing much that I can do about most of these weapons.
The goblins were very smart about this location. I think that they were expecting to be invaded here. Most of the weapons are stored inside cavities in the wall, pretty well hidden. At the very least the archer will have enough arrows to not run out of it. Though there is the problem that Soldier seven is on the verge of death.
Well, other than all of the logistical mess that came with all of these resources and all the construction work. I have something else to worry about too.
There is a ritual that I know of, known as the soul trap, a necromantic ritual to be more precise. In this particular ritual, there is no god involved. All I need is a person that holds the ability to raise the dead and a person that holds the ability to calculate a lot of stuff.
I can handle the calculations and jack can be the one that can do the deed. This ritual of mine has a very simple purpose. It holds the ability to trap a soul into the corpses of the one that has been targeted and raise that body as an undead. It is a pretty simple ritual and Essentially it allows me to raise a person who has recently died back to life. It is a simple ritual and I have a feeling that we are going to need a couple of these. It might also help calm down soldier one. He has been quite aggressive the last couple of days.

Me - soldier nine, Can You call soldier one and The named one to my room.
Soldier nine - yes, troop master.
(After about five minutes. )
Me - good, both of you are finally here.
Soldier one - troop master, allow me and my troop to venture into the swamp. Soldiers four and five can find the plants needed to remove the poison from the body of soldier seven. It will be pretty risky but at the very least we can save Soldier seven.
Jack - doing that would be too risky soldier one. I know that you want to help soldier seven, but right now were are being hunted and I can't let you take a risk. A group half our size managed to leave behind so much damage, what do you think a larger group with stronger wolves can do.
Me - I have called you both for that very purpose. Jack, I am going to be needing something from you.
Jack - troop master, I have no more corpses to provide you. I have already raised the two that I have.
Me - no, no my left hand is already fixed. I don't need any more bones. I'm here to give you something, something that you shall find very useful in the coming days. Get me a couple of papers, you are going to find this ritual very useful. This is known as the soul trap.
Jack - yes, troop master.
(After a couple of hours)
Me - here you go, young one. Have you understood everything? If you did, explain it to soldier one once. It will lessen his worries somewhat. We can't have the only one truly capable of leading among us to be overly emotional these days.
I say pointing to Soldier one. Soldier one has been sitting bored in the tent, waiting while Jack tries to understand the spell that I have given him. He can't understand most of the technical jargon that I have used.
Soldier one - what is that ritual, troop master.
Me - well, it is a ritual that is capable of reanimating a person. Even if soldier seven and soldier three were to die, we can bring them back. If you want the exact details, ask jack.
Jack - but, troop master now do you even know such kind of magic. Even the elder does not know such kind of magic.
Me - are you sure about that, your kind is pretty scared of those weaker than them. Such kind of magic will be pretty useful in a rebellion.
Jack - then why are you giving it so easily. You barely even know me and you are already giving me such important magic.
Me - right now I don't know what the hell is even going on, your elder was the one that somehow managed to summon me to this land. I am not even supposed to be here. Anyway, I can impart such kind of magic to you. This ritual that I am giving you, is very basic stuff.
Jack - you did not answer my question, troop master. It seems to be a very unfair trade for you to do such a thing.
Me - well, I can get your loyalty. That is a pretty useful thing to have. There are not many people that I trust here. The troop is another force that I can trust or at the very least command without too much worry. I don't want the troop to be destroyed for that very reason.
Jack - okay, troop master, but I don't think that I understand half of what you have written here. It is just a bit too confusing for me.
Me - don't worry about all of that, I will handle most of the calculations needed. You only need to listen to my command.
Jack - how do you even know the magic of this world. You are supposed to be from another world, aren't you?
Me - the magic that I wield is very adaptable. It is mainly dependent on math, which makes it useable in most worlds. You would be surprised just how constant it tends to be in most worlds. Anyway, I only need to change a couple of things for it to become effective in your world. It takes only five minutes for me to complete.
Jack - Okay, then. I have a few doubts, if you are willing to entertain me. .....
And he continued to ask me few doubts, which are quite obvious for his people. The beings of the great wilderness are too reliant on the knowledge that the system provides, if you ask me.
In any other world, this kind of knowledge would be too common. Here, this kind of knowledge is unheard of. Anyway, if there is anything that I hate more than being a leader is to be a teacher.
There are just too many emotions involved in the process, if you get the drift of what I am saying. Anyway, my master would be proud of what I am doing. He wanted me to spread his legacy as far and wide as possible. Well, if that was the case he did make the wrong decision. I do not like necromantic magics myself and I never really had a reason to spread it out. There is a reason that my style of magic is not very common. It is simply not very effective. Other magics are more useful and more powerful.
