《This Troublesome Adventure》Chapter 11: Finding The Place

“Sorry Aras, I was just joking before. Teheh.”
“Don’t act cute!”
I gave her a thump on the head for acting stupid before.
“Now let’s just go find the Adventurer's Association and sell your stuff and I’ll get registered to make things easier.”
“Ok ok, from what I was told as a child, Adventurer’s Association had a symbol that looked like a dog carrying something on it’s back.”
That sounds ridiculous already.
“Are you sure? That sounds silly.”
“Of course! I told you where the city was didn’t I?”
“Alrighty then, let’s go.”
~*~
1 hour later…
We are both tired and out of patience, having no luck finding the Adventurer’s Association.
The city is big however, by the sounds of the Adventurer’s Association, it looks like it should be one of the largest buildings in the city.
“So Daami, are you sure about the symbol? We haven’t found it yet this whole time.”
“Uh…. o-of course I’m sure ‘fu fu fu’. Who do you think I am.”
… yep. She actually has no clue. Why did I even believe her in the first place.
“...”
With a face of disappointment I turn around without even reacting and decided to look for a nearby person we could ask for directions from.
“At least say something …” (Daami)
~*~
“Excuse me sir, me and my friend are looking for the Adventurer’s Association. Could I trouble you with directions to the place?”
A man with leathery armour like equipment is window shopping at a shop which looked like a Smithy, given the goods inside looked like weapons and tools from a glance.
“Ohh, you're quite well mannered young man, I just came from there myself, it’s not far, go back down the street, take a right, followed by two lefts and you should be there, you’ll see it, it's a very large building.”

Wait, we just came from that direction… how did we go past it?
“I understand, thanks very much sir!”
“No worries youngster, good luck!”
After the exchange with the friendly guy, I turn back to Daami and shared the instructions.
~*~
20 more minutes later…
“Thi-this is…”
“A-ah…”
This is clearly the large building we went past already! How did you not notice Daami?
Looking at Daami I find her avoiding eye contact.
“Y-you…”
“Ah i-it's not my fault ok? I mean, see look! Look at the sign, it's a different symbol. Maybe the stranger got it wrong!”
A wooden signboard with a metallic plate holding an image sits across the top of the frame of the large double door entrance to the building.
The image…
“That image is clearly a person riding a horse! It's different!”
As Daami keeps arguing for her cause.
“It should be a dog carrying something on it’s bac- ...Ah.”
Looks like the idiot finally noticed.
“Yes, you were completely wrong in the first place, it would make more sense for it to be a person riding a horse than a dog carrying something on it’s back.”
Daami’s looking depressed again.
Let’s just leave her be, it’s her own fault anyways.
Entering the building, the first floor expands in a large open space. Marbled floor tiles, cream in colour, covers the entire floor. Numerous people wearing all sorts of equipment wonders around, leather and metallic armours, robes, some of them in simple cloth clothings as well. Everyone was at different areas, some looking busy, some grouped together chatting at a bar, some relaxing around sofas, chairs and tables and some lined up in queue, awaiting at what looks to be the reception.
I’m surprised I wasn’t taken as aback as I should have, considering I was living in isolation.
Must be because of my other memories/knowledge, how convenient.
“Come on ‘Dummy’, let’s go get registered.”
Hearing herself get called over, she slowly makes her way beside me in the queue.
...
“Quit dragging your feet, you’re not a kid anymore!”
I feel like a parent…

On the Other Side
Sappers lead the way. It was a slogan Jake had heard a million times, but he never thought it would apply to leading the way into another world. Stuck in a new universe with new rules that resemble an RPG, can this former combat engineer with poor social skills survive or even better, lead his fellow survivors to thrive? This was written contemporaneously with Now That's Entertainment, with different characters and mechanics. I've decided to post both in hopes of comparing how they do. Black Wind, White Lotus
In this world, there are haves and have nots. The former are pureblooded humans, some of whom are capable of manipulating qi, the mysterious energy that flows through every living creature, to miraculous results that defy the laws of nature and physics. Wen Feili was one such cultivator. However, she allied with the have nots- the anthropomorphic hybrids incapable of channeling qi-and dabbled in forbidden demonic arts, seeking to change the very composition of reality. This did not end well for her, and she was consumed by her own flames. A decade later, far in the northwestern mountains, her daughter Wen Fengli is working as a lowly servant of the minor Shuangshan sect. In between sweeping the floor and avoiding bullies, she secretly trains with a wooden sword, hoping to become a warrior cultivator at some point in the future. However, since she's part-human, part-wolf, it's just a pipe dream. ....or so she bitterly thought. However, one day a mysterious amulet that belonged to her mother falls into her hands. A deranged old master, a terrible conspiracy, a mysterious past? None of that matters to tomboyish wolfgirl, who only seeks to become stronger. She embarks on a journey of adventure and self-discovery, towards the mysterious southern lands where pure demi-humans are said to live...as spectre of war once again envelops the world of man. This is a Chinese-themed fantasy story set in a fictional world. You can classify it as xianxia, if you wish, but it's a rather low fantasy variant; the heavenly realm is silent, no one reached immortality in generations, and magical artifacts of old are locked away and feared. Magical beasts and spirits have been driven to the corners of civilisation, and "ordinary" abilities such as flying or controlling swords through telekinesis are considered spectacular feats. The main plot of this book revolves around a kemonomimi girl who seeks power, no matter the cost. This story also features multiple character pov, and will not always follow the perspective of the mc- there are two major plotlines, one connected to conspiracy and war ongoing in the political background of the presented world, and the other focusing on the main character's physical and metaphorical journey. The cover image was drawn by minyaxj, per my request, on a commercial license.
